Chart House Restaurant - Golden Ratings and Reviews
Disappointing to say the least. Charthouse is our Go-To, semi-elegant dining place. For appetizers, we had 4 and 1/2 fried asparagus (why 1/2?-- embarrassing) and our usual hummus but it came with no plantains (we were going for a veggie outing, we got more pita after we complained but would have changed order if we thought there were no plantains ); the glass of wine took a good 20 minutes to come to the table each time we ordered, the salad bar had no lettuce when I arrived to fill my plate. We came at 7:30, ordered nothing that needed to be cooked but the fried asparagus and did not get away until 9:30. The service was excruciatingly slow.
The shrimp was tiny and so not meaty at all. The prime rib served was over cooked and the aujou was very salty. The sea bass was delicious. One good dinner out of four isn't very good. Dessert of Creme brûlée and apple dry cherry crisp was very good.
We will try other restaurants. This one is too expensive for the food delivered.
We were hoping it would be like Cafe Diva in Steamboat Springs.
I wanted to express my disappointment at my recent dinner at the Chart House Restaurant in Genesee. I was taking out my girlfriend for her Christmas present and had prepared weeks in advance for this occasion. We do not dine out often; so I have been saving my money for this special event. I booked the table through the Chart House website on Open Table and also called the restaurant to create a custom menu that read “Happy New Year Gemma!” to put a personal touch on the evening.
Upon arrival, we were brought in and taken to our table. There was no custom menu to be found, so I went to the hosting stand and asked if there was any chance they misplaced them. They explained that they could not find my reservation, and just sat us down anyway. They apologized and offered to print up new menus with the message, and said it would take 5 minutes. I never saw or heard from the host / hostess again.
My girlfriend ordered a filet and I ordered the House Special “Prime Rib”. When the food came out, my girlfriend’s food was perfect, but the prime rib did not look like it had even been cooked. I have waited tables for 2+ years, and have never seen a steak that cold. Our waitress noticed my shock when I bit in, and offered to return the prime rib and swap for a filet.
On top of the lost menus, cold prime rib, I was not pleased with my experience at the Chart House. I have been to this location several times, and have always had an A+ dining experience. I have no idea what happened in the kitchen, but I cannot believe they approved that prime rib to go out.
Our waitress, Keliani was the only positive experience about this dining event. She was every attentive and supportive. I made sure to tip her 20%, due to her excellent service.
I wanted to create a special evening for my girlfriend, but was surprised how unprofessional the experience felt.
Had a great experience for a Saturday night date with my bride of 24 years. Our server was Jake- very helpful with suggestions; great guy. Meal was leisurely paced as fit our needs. Each course was delicious and well presented. Started with the Shrimp, Crab, Avocado & Mango appetizer. Amazing- could have made a meal on this alone. Chop salad followed and was large enough to share. My Bride had the Mac Nut Mahi- Divine! I had the Ahi Tuna special and would eat it daily; perhaps the best tuna I have ever had! Jake recommended the Molten Chocolate desert even before we ordered dinner, as it took 30 minutes to prep. We went for it and while we were full before it arrived, we powered through and managed to eat it anyway. Well paired with fresh made ice cream. Delicious meal; can't wait to go back.
Unfortunately our experience wasn’t anything we expected. We had a party of 8 adults and 1 toddler, and had 2 servers, we were there for almost 3 hours, and our tab was about $350. We felt like even with 2 servers it was very difficult to get someone’s attention, my husband had asked for A1sauce towards the end of his meal, for the filet mignon that wasn’t good(hence needing the A1) and they never came back with anything, leaving him with a half eaten cold steak by the time they did remember, to which he didn’t even eat any more of it. It took them multiple times to get our tab right, charging too much or not enough. And we left feeling as though WE were the ones causing the inconvenience for the mistakes they were making. Unfortunately we won’t be eating at this ChartHouse again.
We celebrated the first day of the New Year by having dinner at The Chart House. It was a wonderful experience. We only live minutes away from the restaurant and enjoy feeling "special" when we go there. Food and service were very good. Lava cake was AMAZING!!
This was a very disappointing experience. Our food was not worth the cost. Our waiter was inattentive and uninterested. The general feel of the restaurant was apathetic, and disappointing for a Nee Years Eve. We will not be returning to The Chart House- we have enjoyed dining there for nearly 20 years, so this is very disappointing.
Tried this close to home restaurant for New Year's Eve. Good service, good atmosphere and food was tasty but felt it was way overpriced for what we got. Wine was not bad at $27 a bottle, but each dinner was just at $40. Salad bar was on top of this at $9 per person making the dinner a whopping $50 each. View is great but will not be spending over $200 for a dinner for 3 in a hurry again.
We went to the Chart House for New Year’s with our kids (twins, age -10). We made reservations because we’ve been their several times and know it’s busy. There is a great view overlooking Denver when seated in the dining room. We were seated in the bar, when we questioned why we were in the bar, with the bartender as our waitress, we were told they were very busy and that was where we landed in the rotation of seating. We watched countless groups come in and get seated in the dining room, we were with 7 empty tables in the bar that didn’t get filled, one group was seated in the bar after us. Because the bartender was so busy, we had to ask for bread and drink refills. Also, we were still eating our salads when our meals were delivered.
We have spent a few special evenings at the Chart House (past New Year’s, a 50th Wedding anniversary and our children’s birthday), and have enjoyed it and felt it was a good experience. This time we felt like we were not valued, pushed aside and rushed through. We talked with a man who was managing twice and both times, he acted like we were a bother. Our waitress was very busy bar tending and was doing the best she could.
Since we have been to the Chart House in the past and know we like it, we will go back at some point, but not for a while.
My partner and I are frequent guests at Chart House and this was our worst experience thus far. Our waiter Brandon did a great job given the circumstances. You could tell he was overwhelmed and understaffed. He did mention they were also down one chef. It is usually peaceful, calming and quiet in Chart House however that was not the case this time. Everyone was rushed which resulted in underperformance. There was also food and a hair in one of our forks. The food presentation and quality was the worst it’s ever been. The chicken looked like it was poorly put together and the lava cake ice cream was melted and fallen over onto the plate by the time it reached us... there response was it all tastes the same. The wait time for our food and constant items that were forgotten along with presentation and quality of food made us disappointed. We’ve never felt this here before. We will be returning but are hoping for a better experience next time.
I’ve been disappointed in the food the last few times we’ve eaten here. The food has been just average, this last time my salmon was over cooked and I had to add salt and pepper. If I’m paying $40 a plate, I expect perfect. The server was really nice, but I think he had too many tables to handle, service was a little slow. Probably won’t dine here again, which is too bad because we’re Landry members.
Very disappointed, as I’ve had great dining experiences in several other Chart House restaurants. In this case, the sale was not fresh at all, and my swordfish was not fully cooked. Granted, it was a holiday, but several menu items were unavailable. Service was good, despite the poorly prepared food.
It's been many years since I last ate at the Chart House and I was expecting a lot. For the travel time and money you pay at a high end restaurant, you expect your meal and experience to be excellent. Unfortunately, our's was not. Which is extremely disappointing since it was our Christmas dinner. We had reservations at 7:45 but I called ahead to see if they could accommodate us early, which they did. Upon arrival, the parking lot was crowded and ice packed and there were several parking lot lights out, which made it difficult to see where it was icy. When we were seated our waitress came over and took our drink order. When she returned we ordered soup. That's when things went downhill. It took forever to get bread and when she dropped it off she made a passing comment that our soup would be out shortly. Finally the soup was dropped off and then our food. Since she wasn't the person who delivered our food to our table, I had to remind them that we also ordered a salad. We also had to ask for more bread (which we never got) and to please fill up our waters. Our actual waitress came by only once during dinner to ask how things tasted and then started to walk away. Again, we had to ask to please fill up our waters. While she was never rude, she also was not attentive to us and she seemed unhappy to be working that night. She never smiled or said Merry Christmas and we felt very neglected. We were prepared to leave a hefty tip since it was Christmas. In the end, we left less than 10%, which is what we felt was given to us. If this is how their staff treats customers on a holiday night, I cringe to think of how regular nights are. The food was good but not outstanding and for the price, it definitely wasn't worth it. Considering this was an extremely expensive dinner, we were very unhappy with our overall experience. I will never go back to the Chart House and I will not recommend it to my friends or family.
I should have known not to come on a holiday. The salad bar needed more staffing. It was a disaster— empty, messy dressing bowls, olives all over the place, no crackers, no Caesar, warm plates, not worth the cost. I used to work there in the 90’s and I think the servers should have helped the salad guy out— No manager tending to the salad or to us, but I did see his blinking holiday necklace. Drinks came after we finished the appetizers, and we had no plates to eat them on. Also, soap dispensers in the women’s bathroom were empty. I tried to pick up my brandy from the bar because I saw it sitting there, but the bartender just looked at me dumbfounded— someone should have been running drinks. 5:00 seating and our reservation (made weeks in advance) only got us the cocktail lounge— who knows what the conditions were like by 7:00! I won’t be back.
We went to Chart House to celebrate our son's graduation from Colorado School of Mines. When we sat down and started reviewing the menu, we noticed that our menus were printed specifically for us with a congratulations note for my son at the top. What a wonderful touch! (They really do look at the special notes you can include when making reservations via OpenTable.)
Service was a bit slow at first... our oysters took quite a while. But our server was wonderful and let us know that they were working on them.
Dinner was very good. Most ordered Prime Rib and were not disappointed. My Chilean Sea Bass was only OK. It was a bit undercooked. Our server offered to have a new one cooked, but I declined.
Dessert (molten chocolate cake) was delicious. And to make up for the sea bass, our server brought us an extra dessert. It too was delicious.
Overall, our experience was very good. I would go back. And I would certainly recommend it as a place to go for a special occasion.
