Chart House Restaurant - Ft. Lauderdale - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
This was one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. I suppose it is to be expected that when you go out for a Mother's Day buffet, you should expect to be fleeced as far as the price. I suppose you should expect the food to be substandard and cold. This is why I never choose a restaurant with a brunch or buffet for Mother's Day. So imagine my surprise when I arrived at Chart House to find that the only option for our 6 p.m. reservation was a $45 buffet. Nowhere on Open Table, nor on the restaurant website did it show that this was their only Mother's Day option or that it was even an option at all. Nor did anyone mention this when I was called to confirm the reservation. But there we were, held hostage to this exorbitant price and disappointing food because where else could one go on that holiday without a reservation? So, the food. Apparently, since we came at dinnertime, we didn't even get the same choices that the earlier crowds would have had, since all breakfast/brunch options were gone. The "carving station" offered tough, cold roast beef, there was mediocre chicken & salmon, fried tilapia (I couldn't eat my piece, as it tasted extremely fishy), fair peel-and-eat shrimp, some mundane sides. The worst was the desserts--a huge carrot cake that might have been the only real dessert left from the day, some creepy brownies, industrial-looking sheet cake, and what could have passed as Chips Ahoy cookies. And cotton candy. No idea about that one. All this to say, if I am forced to pay this price, I would have expected a decent meal. No mimosa/champagne even included. A huge rip off. Also, while the indoor part of the restaurant was half-empty, tables that were dirty when we arrived were in the same condition when we left. Finally, to cap off the evening, we were subjected to a loud argument: a manager threatening to call the police on a group of people who were being accused of not paying their bill. I could sympathize with them...
I was disappointed that they did not have the regular menu available. The buffet was OK, but not as good as the food they normally serve on their menu. However, the gal we had as a server was the best I ever had, so that was a surprise and I hope she returns. Hopefully, they will bring back the great food too when they reopen. Has always been my favorite spot to dine by the water!
We have gone to their Mother's Day brunch for 5 years now. This year the food was awful. We also found from out from the hostess that this location was going to close. That should not be an excuse for poor food. The service was good. It's a shame because it's a nice location on the water.
it's been many years since I last went to a Chart House. The 80's and 90's it was top drawer and very, very good. Decided to go to Chart House Ft L as I was in town for Mother's Day. On Saturday night, took daughter and wife to this CH. I remembered the Chart Houses of the past and their great food, drinks and ambiance of past meals. That's the problem, CH at Ft L, it was just like it was in the 80's...and has not really moved forward with the changing times and tastes. If you enjoy the menus of the high flying late 80's and 90's, then this is the place for you and there is nothing wrong with that but I personally have moved on.
Service was very good. The food was just OK and not to the level that I remembered. Caesar salad was mediocre. The Crab Cake app was very good. The hemingway parm was good but after after a few bites..well, just was "old". Ordered Prime Rib "as rare as possible" and it came to the table just the opposite...very well done. ??? Server and manger took care of the replacement very quickly but just a major mistake by a kitchen that maybe is not paying attention to the quality that they are putting out to the dining room. That may be the reason for the lack of 'oomph" on the other dishes..not a lot of caring by the kitchen?
Tables right on the water are really nice. Sit outside and enjoy the "boat watching" and the sunset. Stick to some of the apps and have a few cocktails and it will be a good time. If you want to harken back to the '80's order the "famous" Molten Chocolate Lava Cake.
Sorry CH, I've gotten older and so have you but I think I am not as tired as you are.
Went there for my birthday dinner. Wasn't overly impressed. Very slow service and the restaurant was not at all busy. Server spent more time talking to friends at another table completely ignoring us. Food was very bland and overpriced for the quality. Will not be going back.
Not like it used to be! Food was good tho but the service was not the way it should be! The restaurant needs to be refurbished as it looked shabby and needed to be cleaned . I was promised 1000 points for my reservation and only got 100. The location in the water is nice but I hat was it. No manager was around to talk to. We spent 300.00 for a bad time. Not fun
Chart House has in Ann Marie their hostess the best hostess we have ever encountered. Personable, people oriented she is all energy, always remembers the patrons and goes out of her way to take care of the clientele. She is a very special person.
The Chart House is located on the intercoastal waterway and is an ideal spot for a beautiful evening watching the sunset and boat traffic. Generally the dishes we have ordered have been outstanding.
Took several minutes to get greeted once we were seated. Ordered 2 drinks and soup with 2 spoons. Soup had 1 spoon. Asked for 2nd one. Again, several minutes for a 2nd spoon. Soup was almost gone at that point. My husband ordered chicken Caesar salad and I ordered a Caprese chicken salad. Food came out and my salad was dry with NO mozzarella at all. Tracked down the waitress and she said she didn't know if a Caprese salad came with mozzarella. She actually left my salad there and got the menu for us to review. Of course it came with mozzarella and dressing. She finally took the salad back. My husband finished his and then mine came out. It had mozzarella with almost no dressing. Very dry. Had to track the waitress down yet again. Needless to say it was a frustrating meal. Won't be back.
We came here for a birthday celebration. CJ was our server. He gave excellent service - he was very attentive, funny and on top of everything all night long. The food was delicious. The lobster bisque is one of the best I've ever tasted. We had Snapper Hemingway and Mac Nut Mahi. Excellent dishes. We really enjoyed our experience at the Chart House.
Been to the Chart House several times for lunch; this was the first time for dinner. Food was great, ambiance excellent and the service was OUTSTANDING! Ricky was always there when we
needed him but he was never intrusive as we celebrating my wife's birthday. He made great recommendations, was friendly, polite, knowledgeable, and professional in every way. He is the best we've experienced anywhere in south Florida! We will definitely return......probably this weekend!
Went for brunch on easter Sunday with a reservation. Got to restaurant and found out it was a price fixed buffet. It wasn't advertised on their website or listed on Open Table either. Food was just ok. Host seated us at a bad table then annoyed when requesting alternate.
We had a wonderful time as the food was outstanding and the service was even better! There was a wide range of food offerings and the service was so friendly and helpful as they provided us items before we even requested them!! Great job and we will be back again!!
The service was NOT very good and i found the food only soso. They had oyster Rockafeller on the bar menu but not on the dinner menu. I inquired of our server and she said they had no oysters, that they weren't good so they didn't have any in stock. I thought every other place in town has them. I inquired on the way out and they had to ask the bartender and they had to "check", but they did have them. what gives??
When i made the reservation i noted it was for our 26th wedding anniversary. They printed up special menus just for us to wish us happy anniversary! They also made sure we had a great outdoor table with a view. Bartenders were great, food was spectacular. Waterfront views were amazing. Waiter was super nice and apologetic for any extended wait times die to Easter weekend volume. Would definitely visit again!
The atmosphere on the dock is beautiful; right down the inter coastal. Service was disappointing. We just got our salads and the main course arrived. We sent it back saying we felt rushed. When the brought the dinner out it was warm not hot. The server was rude when he brought the dishes out.
Un-chart-ed House Management
The Chart house is part of a chain that promotes itself as an upscale dining experience. We have been there twice in a month because it is at a pleasant location on the Fort Lauderdale Intracoastal waterfront and it is nicely appointed. But, oh the management! Despite reservations, we waited for a front desk person to appear. She did and with a manager who ignored us as they settled some computer reservation issue and a large party. But just like the the first time and a relatively empty dining porch, seating was slow. Unfortunately the harbinger of the slow food service from a kitchen and bar that might need some re-training as to the customer mission of the restaurant. Our waiter was forced to continually apologize for delays and our 7:15 start dinner lasted until 10+ PM. Fortunately, a lovely night.
The food was decent-- good choices and tastily prepare. The ambiance is good, the pricing reasonable, the wine list very nice.
Food and drinks were great! Loved the table on the water. Nothing beats having dinned the watching the sun set from your table. Be sure to hit the bar for happy hour before you go to the table. Good value for the money and very nice service staff. You won’t be disappointed.
