Chart House Restaurant - Daytona Beach Ratings and Reviews
Have dined at chart house many times. My favorite place in Daytona Beach. However, this time was very disappointing. Took quite a while to get food which was not a big issue. The issue was the food quality. Two in our party ordered twin lobster tails. One tail was undercooked and one tail was way over cooked. Also one person did not get proper order.
Probably should have complained but didn’t. Very busy night at the restaurant. Waiter was not very attentive either
At these prices you expect excellent quality. Will have to think twice about going to Chart House again.
Already reported my complaint...the Bar was booked for a Private Function...so we had arrived at 4:30PM when the Restaurant was scheduled to open. So we left and went to another Bar and then came back...Sorry we love your Bar but if you need to Book a Private Function...I get it.
However you should tell us when we Book a 6:30 Table.
Sorry again...but we spent $100.00 in another Bar and, then came back to the Chart House for dinner. Oh thanks for the “On the House” Coconut Shrimp HorsDeouves”.
The food was excellent, as were the cocktails, but definitely on the expensive side. Even with an appetizer split between 2 of us and 2 of the Chef’s specials, we both were still somewhat hungry. The place was super nice, but I didn’t really feel like I got my money’s worth. If you have the money to spend, I’d highly recommend it.
Usually we come here and enjoy our experience 100%. Tonight, wasn’t one of those nights. The table we were sat at was close to the kitchen entrance and the light above the table was like a strobe light (similar to a halogen bulb flickering because it’s on a dimmer). We had the hostess move us. The same thing at the next table but it was tolerable. I would suggest they have an electrician come in and look at the bulb types and repair.
The salad at the salad bar was very tired and slimy (black and spotty too). I skipped the salad and just had some of the other vegetables. When my fish came I could see oily fingerprints around the rim of the plate! Yuk! And during flu season makes it worse. It was almost like they spilled something on the plate and attempted to wipe it away but did so very poorly. Then there were several other prints around the plate (prints not glove marks). That's just rushing an order out and being careless about presentation. It is unfortunate as the fish itself was tasty.
The kitchen area (on the way to the bathroom) was a mess. I get places get busy - but there was food on the floor, cooks without gloves, one guy was sweating and wiped his brow! YUK! I hope he was the one who put fingerprints on my plate! .
Oh well - not a great experience tonight. Not sure if we will be back as this restaurant has gone through lots of change over the year. Its good, then great, then bad...
Beautiful restaurant, beautiful setting. Prime rib wasn't very tasty. All meat portions were on the small side. 1sixth glass of wine for ten dollars is taking advantage. If efforts placed on ambience, were equaled regarding the food, this would be an exceptional dining establishment.
Our meal was very good. I had the stuffed founder and my husband had the "early bird" fish and chips. My fish had a little too much lemon shallot butter which they put on all their fish entrees. If I ordered again I would ask for easy on the shallot butter. The fish and chips were flaky and tasty. The early bird includes the salad bar which makes this a choice less expensive one.
Awful, I ordered short ribs they were greasy and apparently encrusted means fried. Horrible value for what we got $150 later. Our server, we saw three times and he was clearly frustrated everytime we saw him. The bar drink came out to the table before my coke did. Below u can see howuch grease was on my plate. Needless to say I wouldn't have paid if I wasn't on a date. It's a shame I heard so many good things about this place. I guess it was all hype because of the expense people think they are getting quality when u lay that much. Oh an GM I called Chris the GM he just simply said sorry and blamed me for not telling him while I was there. Needless to say I won't recommend and won't be back McDonald's quality would have been better.
We had a party of 6 for a birthday on 1/27/18 which coincided with the Rolex 24 hr car race event in Daytona Beach. This limited the menu options from their regular menu and took away the early bird option. That would have been nice to know beforehand, although we would have still gone. Two members of our part ordered the filet and wasn't really impressed as they'd had file at Hyde Park the month before which was exceptional. I had the twin lobster tails which I thoroughly enjoyed, one person had the Ahi tuna which was a generous portion and well liked. Another party member had the stuffed shrimp which was tasty although she indicated she thought the shrimp would have been larger. The last party member had the Snapper Hemingway which he did enjoy but said he couldn't really taste the fish as the topping overwhelmed the dish. All in all though it was a good experience and for the first time had a table with a really nice view.
Although our table wasn’t ready when we arrived, the host staff kept us well informed and offered us several options as tables became available finally settling in to a nice waterfront view! Food was excellently presented and tasted even better. Service was very attentive but not obtrusive. Key Lime pie is amazing! But be wary of sticker shock when the bill comes!
Above average! The service was smooth and they tried to be accommodating.
Great ambiance, in my opinion one that works for most occasions.
One reason I reserve giving a 5-star rating throughout is for a couple reasons: 1. Our table ordered the charcuterie and cheese board - to accommodate the vegetarian in the group we wanted the meats separated but were informed the platters were per-made. Understandably restaurants need to prep, however with such a limited menu for vegetarians, they may want to, at a minimum, arrange the platter differently so that they can still prep, but at the same time ensure that the meats and cheese are separate. For those people who may be rolling their eyes: some people may have an intolerance or like me, not like the taste - so I don’t want to taste salami on my cheese. 2. You guessed it: lack of vegetarian options. The chopped salad was lovely - though a little heavy on onions (for me), but it would have been great to have something a little more substantial than cheese, bread (excellent bread) and salad.
Again, for those rolling their eyes: why did we pick this restaurant - well, the answer is in the question. Have you ever been to Daytona Beach and tried to find a good restaurant? It’s a challenge.
And, in all fairness, CH does have some vegetable options - oily options but a vegetarian wouldn’t starve.
The Chart House has an interesting menu, especially their seafood dishes, but the preparation doesn't match the potential. The crab/avocado/mango stack contained little crab and it was shredded - not a chunk in sight. The snapper Hemingway, with crab and a lemon shallot sauce (which seemed to be served with most of the fish dishes) was overcooked. My partner's spicy Ahi tuna wasn't properly seared and the center was cold. The creme brulee was okay.
In general, everything was tasty, but not as good as expected, especially for the price.
Although the Chart House can get quite pricey for us "regular" folks, their Early Dining menu (before 6) is a great value, with the excellent salad bar included, and a nice variety of entrees available in the $22 to $26 range, including the terrific Prime Rib, or Salmon, or Chicken, etc. Portions are more than ample. Before dinner, the Happy Hour downstairs is a terrific value, and very nice if you can sit outside. Beer and drinks are in the $4 to $7 range, and appetizers are $4 to $5. Great for sitting down with somebody special or some friends and enjoy the ambiance without spending a fortune.
Although very expensive, the old adage you get what you pay for really applies here. First, you are greeted by someone that really appreciates your being there. Next, the wait staff cannot do enough to make your visit more enjoyable by prompt service, knowledge of what is available and attention to detail. Further, your meal will not disapoint you for its looks, taste or portion. Finally, when leaving the staff makes you feel they were glad you came. Again, you get what you pay for.
The noise level was very high and it was difficult to talk to my husband sitting next to me. The mashed potatoes and vegetable came out cold and we were told we were not the only ones for this to happen to so they replaced them with more cold food. We ordered the Lava cake that they make up to order and then it was put on a refrigerated plate which made it cold by the time it got to our table. I have eaten here before and was excited for my husband to enjoy the atmosphere and good food and we were very disappointed. Wont be going back there again. The employees seemed mildly distressed by the fact that they could not produce hot food and only bought us our cold dessert.
Wow! This place looks a little dated from the outside but what a view. The restaurant sits on or possibly over the water and is in a curved shape- so views of the water and scenery from and of everywhere. Service was exceptional. Between the two of us we ordered: salad buffet/clam chowder/ house type salad/ filet mignon 7 oz (comes with garlic whipped potatoes)/Lava cake/ Pomegranate mojito. My first steak arrived med well instead of medium but the quickly prepared another and all our food was incredible. They also serve several types of warm rolls which are excellent. I believe we could have cut everything in half and had a very filling meal the next day. However, we ate it all and were uncomfortable for a few hours lol. I highly recommend. The views as the sun is setting are amazing. We arrived at 4:45pm and had the most amazing sunset. Highly recommend this place. Also, the steak with the potatoes was only $34. A steal for a great steak and a side to boot. Loved it!
We had dinner at Chart House on Friday, January 12th. There were 6 of us celebrating our friend's upcoming wedding, and let me just say the service was wonderful. The hostesses were so nice and hospitable, taking pictures for us without us even having to ask! Our server, Jesse, was amazing and his recommendations and service were stellar. We had the calamari and lobster bisque to start, I had the Baked Crab-Stuffed Shrimp for my entree, and we all had the chocolate lava cake (which was to DIE for!); everything was DELICIOUS. I would recommend Chart House for any occasion, be it lunch, a romantic dinner, or girls night out!
We have been dining at The Chart House Restaurants through the years and though not what they once were back in the day of the Salad Bar Feast, still a very nice experience. Ahi Tuna was outstanding, hubby had the Snapper and it was good but he also thought my meal was better so he helped me finish it off. Small pour on the wine which is typical for fine dining, the Not So Old Fashioned, very good. Thomas, our waiter was wonderful. The chocolate lava dessert is worth it, loved the decor, view is great...a very enjoyable evening.
