We love CHart House. Love the Happy Hour and the service was great at our dinner table. Food is so good. Great for our anniversary!
Waiter was erratic so we weren't completely satisfied with him, but everything else was perfect and we were pleased.
It was for my mom’s 89th birthday. Service, food and views were awesome 👏
We had 7:30 reservations and were seated at 8:15. Then when finally seated and ordered dinner (we were so hungry by then) the meals took another hour before coming out to us! The waiter had an attitude and was a little snippy as he was taking our order and then forgot a few sides that we had ordered.
We left the restaurant at 10:30 pm and had 7:30 reservations...not good!
We love Charthouse atmosphere, food, and noise level (lower, thank God!). We cannot stand loud restaurants. The views from many tables are beautiful, but really the atmosphere is what we enjoy. This past weekend we had a 7:15 reservation; unfortunately, we were not sat until almost 8:15. It was very crowded, we believe with lots of prom students, etc. as well as just overly crowded. We were irked by the wait, but in the end we still enjoyed what is always a good meal and service from Charthouse.
Wonderful dinner. Food was superb and location was super cute, charming restaurant. My family loved it!
Everything was absolutely perfect. The view, the food, the service. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Beautiful view! Great happy hour. Good service. A bit pricey for dinner.
We went to dinner here to celebrate our anniversary. The food was excellent! The service was attentive, and the prices were very high. Our only complaint was - they were out of lobster tails, even though they were on the menu. How can they be out of an item??
This is a beautifully set Restaurant set up in the cliffs of Dana Point. Chad was our Bartender/Server and he was just awesome. He really made our experience wanting to come back. Food was great the ocean view calming. Took me away for the day. We will be coming back.
Always love the Charthouse. It was Mother’s Day,so understandably crowded. Service was good, but slightly inattentive.. The food was delicious and well prepared as always and of course the salad bar was excellent. My one major complaint is that I ordered crab legs and while they were delicious, none of the shells had been presliced to make it easier to access the crab. I had to wrestle with the legs armed only with a butter knife and a useless shell cracker. A pair of kitchen shears or a sharp knife would have made the task much easier, but alas the waiter was nowhere to be found until the very end. When I asked him why the shellls hadn’t been presliced, his comment was that it was busy and that the chefs never preslice crab shells unless it is slow. He also said that it was also a big complaint of his and that if I had asked, he would have sliced the shells for me, but of course he was nowhere to be found after serving the meal.
Our party’s only other complaint, and its a big one, was that the restrooms were in a filthy state with water and other liquids all over the floor and paper towels overflowing the containers and just a general state of being unkempt. But of course it was Mother’s Day and busy and I guess that’s an excuse......
Check in process unorganized. Server was very slow to come to our table. Never brought soup. Service just not great. It was Mother’s Day so maybe that was the problem?
Valet greeted us with a smile and carnation for mom, hostess got us the best booth in the house. Server Nico was flawless and took great care of us. After the salad we went out to take great photos of the Dana Point Marina, then had a perfect early dinner. An exceptional Mom's Day at a top notch cliff-top restaurant. Couldn't be happier about the entire experience.
Tried to add two people to reservation three days before and open table said nothing available until 8:30. Restaurant was half empty when we arrived at 3:00 and 3/4 empty at 4:45 when we left. Really bad management and you lost out on $$ Landry’s should be ashamed
I always love this restaurant, but this visit had a couple of issues,
We had a reservation for 6, but illness in family we ended up with only 4, this freed up a good table, but instead of nice table they stuck us in the farthest table from a view back in a corner. Also at 2:30 they already ran out Ahi, oh I got a Bloody Mary, very plain Jane , not a normal brunch drink
Lovely Mother’s Day lunch.
The view over the Dana Point marina is as picturesque as it gets. We were lucky enough to have a window booth on a busy Mother's Day that was sunny and beautiful. I had to send my overcooked filet mignon back but a new one came out in reasonable time perfectly done. Scallop and Shrimp entree was good with the shrimp slightly overcooked but delicious. The calamari appetizer with a nice glaze is different but wonderful. Service was spot on. Suggestions from Mark helped to make it a perfect dining experience.
We went to the Chart House for Mother’s Day. Got a great table with an amazing view. The food was great, I feel like they upped their food game, and they even gave my mother a carnation for her special day.
This was an awesome Mother’s Fay experience! Restaurants are usually over crowded and service is horrible on Mother’s Day. Not in this case.
Ron was provided excellent service and suggestions. The food and drinks were fantastic.
First time but not the last.
We made our reservation for mother’s day. We love this chart house. However, we could not find out the menu for our 11:15 am rsvp. So we went anyway, assumed it was brunch. It was not! It was dinner. Very disappointed! Chart house should make this clear.
Called in the reservation a week in advance with a request for a window table. Secind request when i arrived early. Disappointed we were unable to get one except GB or one at the far right which really had no view. The service was exceptional and my dinner very good. Just one big disappointment espicially when i explained twice how important the evening was.
The views are beautiful. The restaurant has a very unusual and interesting configuration. I didn't really feel that the service was all that attentive, considering the expense of the dining. The food was fine, nothing exceptional.
Food was as expected have lived in the area over 30 years. Never such poor service here. Asked for water with our cocktail, it never came. Ordered a bottle of wine that took a while even saw the manager bring it towards the table stopped the server a few tables before and walk away without presenting it. Came back with the wine 2-3 minutes later after chasing away the food runners with our dinner. Requested a dipping sauce with my meal after it was brought. It got to the table after everyone else was about finished with their main course. This was a Monday night. It was not busy. First time ever written a review, but service was so poor I had to writ3 this.
We arrived before our reservation time, yet got seated promptly. Our server recommended the Filet Mignon with truffle butter, which was delightful, and our view of Dana Point Harbor was unmatched.
We had dinner here after returning from the Pantages Theater in Hollywood. The food and service were both excellent! I ordered the halibut and my wife got the crab mango stack. And, we requested and got a window booth! We are locals and we will keep returning.
We had a fabulous dinner and drinks. The service was excellent. We have always enjoyed ourselves at chart house
Great food and excellent service. Loved the ambience. Will definitely return.
Would definitely recommend The Chart House Dana Point!
Great service from arriving at the valet to picking up from valet. The host was very friendly and accommodating. Waiter could have been a little more attentive but otherwise friendly. Great experience overall. Food was great and the view, exceptional. Would definitely recommend!
When we first moved to SOCAL about 6 years ago, we went to the Chart House in Dana Point and had a below average meal on a very busy night. It took us six years to go back which we did on Saturday, May 4th. We had a table reserved but decided to have a drink first on the patio. We had some signature cocktails and an appetizer and decided to stay outside as it was a nice evening and a spectacular view. We have dined in many places with great views and average food. The menu here was equal to the view; our server Jordon (GREAT)explained the flexibility to mix and match different topping and sides with our fish and beef selections. All in all a special evening, well done and we will be back. In fact, next weekend we reserved another table for our daughter and her boyfriend who are visiting us from Colorado and I am sure they will enjoy the spectacular view of Dana Point Harbor as well as the menu. Thanks, Chart House! Another shout out to Jordon who knew the menu as well as all the local info on Dana Point Harbor.
Our server Michael was the best! The food was delicious and the service was exceptional!
We were seated at a table and it was freezing cold and no view. We ordered drinks that took 20 min to get. We then ordered dinner and 15 min. Later they told us they didn’t have any Mahi Mahi or Halibut left. We then tabbed out and left. Went to another restaurant.
Just isn't what it used to be. Menu has changed and very limited and expensive for what you get. Great service. Beautiful restaurant. It was a real bummer that the food has declined.
We love coming to the Chart House for the view and the food. Our service this time was not up to the level we've come to expect. First we had to wait 20 minutes for our 7 pm reservation. Once seated our waiter came over and went over the the menu specials and asked if we wanted drinks, but all in a robotic manner, speaking very quickly without pausing or taking a breath. The biggest disappointment was that the light in our booth was out, making it difficult to see your plate. It should have been obvious to the staff since this was the only booth in the dark. We pointed this out to our waiter and it took 20 minutes to find a manager to replace the light bulb. In fact, my wife had to leave the table to search for a manager. We received free appetizers as amends, but our celebratory mood (my birthday) had been dampened. Hopefully this was an aberration and that our next visit will be up to par.
Had a great night with old friends, food was great. Our waiter was very busy but still managed to be attentive. And with window table view was spectacular. Chart house has been go to favorite for many years and it still delivered.
A fine restaurant, with excellent food and very good service. With its beautiful location on a cliff overlooking the sea, it is one of our favorites.
One of these days, the decor could use an update. Maybe when they redevelop Dana Point Harbor.
The service was mediocre. Our oysters and the soup were delicious. My main course arrived, it was lukewarm at best, and the side dish was not as described in the menu (no bacon, very bland). I should have complained, but didn’t want to ruin dinner. My husband’s prime rib was also cold. For the price, I expected better. The most positive thing I have to say is the view was fantastic.
Good food good service. Celebrating 46 years of wedded bliss.
It’s a lovely restaurant with good food and service. The view of the harbor is amazing.
Stunning views, delicious food, great service. I would definitely recommend.
