The food was delicious. But it was cold, it was so windy that the heat lamps didn’t help much. But over all ambiance and food was great. They were kind of short on staff and the men’s restroom soap dispenser was broken. They could have had hand sanitizers as a back up but they didn’t. Tables were far apart unlike at other restaurants and servers had masks. We felt safe but I wish that they had hand sanitizers around the restaurant. Also, it was a Friday night and there was no manager on duty so not sure what happened there.... food was great but everything got cold real quick cause it was 60 degrees with cold wind factor. But if you want to pretend you are on an Alaskan cruise eating on an open deck, this is the place to go on a chilly night!
Outdoor lawn wasn't level for dining. food was cold and the quality of food just wasn't like it used to be. heaters did not heat up enough around the table and seating. It just isn't a quality restaurant anymore.
It was a beautiful evening. Say outside but plenty warm with heaters. View was stunning and Prime Rib was perfect.
The best thing of course, is the view. The food is good but I would say my mahi mahi was a bit tough but tasty, the beans were great and I enjoyed my spinach salad. My husband liked his prime rib but didn't care for the taste of the mashed potatoes. The lava cake was tasty but could have a bit more "lava." Chris, our waiter, was attentive and friendly. Nice meal!
The view was pretty and the service was good. Overall wonderful experience
Great outdoor experience above the harbor at sunset!
Great ambiance and the food was delicious!
The food was delicious, ambiance was perfect! Can’t wait to go back
Excellent service. Excellent food. See you again soon.
Wonderful evening with beautiful views and delicious food!
Beautiful views but with the wind it was pretty chilly. They have heaters at every table but for some reason ours didn’t seem to work that well. Would go back when indoor dining reopens.
Excellent view, amazing service and the food has always been worth coming back for! Keep up the great work!!!
the COVID outside arrangements are the best I’ve seen yet! Organized, classy and safe! Truly impressed
I made reservations for a 46th wedding anniversary dinner for two. We were seated outside, which we knew beforehand, but not on the patio, which was a cool atmosphere with wooden tables and overhead lights. Instead we were off to the side in a makeshift annex on grass with a few tables with white plastic chairs and white tablecloths. I guess I falsely assumed that since I had a reservation we would get good seating. Wrong. My mistake was that I made the reservation for 5:30...I think most of the good tables were taken before then. Anyway, food was up to par for the Charthouse. My husband said he had the best steak he has had in a year. But for me, the wife, the disappointing ambiance overshadowed everything else and it was a dinner that didn't feel special at all. Blame it on Covid, I guess.
My husband & I celebrated a late Valentine's at the Chart House. This was our first visit.
We got the prime rib and chicken, both of our dinners were delicious. Our server was ON it, usually my husband has to ask for more water or condiments but not tonight! Drinks were good too. It was already dark when we got there, but the harbor lights were nice to look at during dinner. We will definitely be back.
The Chart House was outstanding and met our expectations for ambiance, beverages andfood. However, the $7.00 parking fee was ridiculous. We aren't talking valet(that was available) siimply a place to stick your car. Come on guys thats sticking it to your guest. Yes I would recommend the restaurant to a friend but with this disclaimer,
The food is nothing special but the view is amazing. It gets really cold after 9 make sure dress warm.
Disappointing! Before I arrived my guests were greeted by Scott who acted like he was in charge. They were scolded for being an hour early for our reservation. My guests informed Scott that our plan was to have a cocktail before dinner. Scott informed them drinks were not available without ordering food and there was no place to wait for our reservation time except on benches by the parking lot or the patio. When I arrived, I was informed of the conditions and observed other guests being informed by Scott what his conditions were and that they are overbooked. We secured bench seating. By now I could really use a drink. I suggested to Scott that I was happy to order an an appetizer with my drink order if that was okay with him. He said he would send Matt over. After an hour- no Matt. Scott was less than happy and he eventually made the rest of us less than happy.
Chart House is wonderful option to dine at, when in Dana Point.
We had THE best experience at Chart House. We sat outside under a heater, due to Covid. It was perfectly comfortable though.
We told the staff about our engagement (which happened earlier that morning) and they brought out a complimentary mocha chocolate cake! YUM.
For our meal we got: small clam chowder bowl, the two lobster tails entree and the Mac nut mahi - all of which was unbelievably delicious.
At the end of the dinner when we went to pay, our waiter informed us the couple behind us, who had heard we’d just gotten engaged, paid for our entire meal!!! It was unreal. It made for the cherry on top of an already special day.
So, yeah. Chart House rocks!
Patio was great unfortunately the service and the food was subpar. My Seabass had so much butter on it that at least the bottom of the plate had no flavor except for the butter could not eat it
We set in the patio. Service was slow. Kitchen is a long trip from the patio. There was not enough help. Felt sorry for the server. Our food was excellent
Server had to constantly apologize for poor service...bar backed up etc. You didn't have enough staff, obviously. Food was pretty cookie cutter... not excellent, but okay. Bottom line is we spent more time waiting for service than we did dining. You can do better!!
We have reserved through Open Table and added this was an Anniversary dinner. This was not acknowledged at any time at the restaurant. We were seated, not in the inviting section of the patio. Our table was in the overflow section that included a stock pile of extra benches and bare table. The view was grand overlooking the harbor. We ordered cocktails first, then chowder. We were finished with our chowder by the time our cocktails arrived. We ordered wine. The wine the waiter brought out and ready to uncork was the wrong bottle.
We ordered bread twice, never received. The seabass was not the typical thick portion, very flat grilled piece and loaded with butter. The two top table directly behind us ordered the seabass and commented as i commented. They did not even eat their seabass. The Prime rib needed salt. We requested a salt shaker, never received.
Overall, very disappointing, especially being a long time local. We sure miss Cannons Restaurant!
We always look forward to taking our granddaughters to dinner here, but this time we were disappointed in the service. We had to ask for sugar for our ice tea 3x. When we asked for another glass of wine, it never came. We asked for straws 2x & glasses & plates kept piling on table. He kept apologizing but nothing changed
Excellent service, wonderful food. A spectacular evening celebrating our 35th anniversary. Well done Chart House. We’ll be back
Wonderful place to take a date and enjoy the beautiful scenic view of the harbor. The staff was very respectful and polite. I will definitely come back for another meal.
Great spot! Beautiful view even at night over the harbor and lights along the coast.
The view of Dana Point Harbor was spectacular! I had the New York strip and it was to die for. My Fiancee had the herb crusted salmon and that was also fantastic. We followed up with the key lime pie and lava cake and we're very happy with them. Great service all around!
Went here for valentines dinner while seated outside due to Covid-19. I did appreciate that the tables were set up 6 feet apart covered with white linen table cloth, candlelit and heated patio beside us kept us warm. Wonderful view overlooking the ocean, had great service, food was amazing. I had salmon with a side of mushrooms and asparagus, and chocolate lava cake to end the night. Wonderful evening.
Fue una experiencia muy bonita, El ambiente estaba muy romántico... La comida muy deliciosa 💯 recomendable!
Very nice place to take your significant other or family for a special occasion. The view is breathtaking. Its an upscale place so the menu prices are what you would expect. I will definitely consider this restaurant again.
The outdoor experience add another level to the restaurant ambiance. I hadn’t been to this Chart House previously, but will return for the indoor experience. Food quality par none. Food buzz for sure when leaving.
Great!!! Will be back!
Everything was wonderful from the service to the food
Great venue with a great view!
Food was prepared very well. Service was fantastic!
The view with the outdoor dining is unbelievable and the food is excellent!
Not a good experience for the money. Please read full review in Yelp. After giving this restaurant two chances they fail to perform. Basically something is always wrong with the food. This Chart House location can't seem to put together a flawless event for their guest. The Lake Tahoe location hits success evertime. Again, full review in Yelp.
It was great.
Celebrating Valentines Day
Everything from the service, the ambiance of our table w a view and the food were outstanding!!
