Wonderful dinner for birthday celebration!
The food was great. Service was average. The views were outstanding.
This was our first visit to Chart House and we were not disappointed. Beautiful location. The food was superb. The prime rib was the best I've ever had. My wife had fish and it was excellent. Salad bar was also very good and had a wide variety of items on it. Our only gripe was that the service was rather slow. Yes, the place was busy, but this was a Saturday night and busy is to be expected. We expected a little more snap in the service at this caliber restaurant. Still, we'd go back.
Service was awful. Food was good but overpriced for what it was.
Always good food. But they never seem to get either enough waiting staff or they get the wrong ones. Really makes me not want to go back!!!!
Celebrating husband’s 60th birthday. They made us feel so welcome and we enjoyed every moment. Even had a surprise mud pie at the end with a candle. Service was exceptional. Salad bar out of this world. The crab legs are to die for. I guess you’re getting the feeling that I love this place. Absolutely right we come here every time we visit Dana point
Waiter was very attentive and had good knowledge of the menu and special of the evening. Food was wonderful although the fish portion was very small. View was amazing.
Birthday was amazing
Been here numerous times, this time the food was a little subpar, but none the less it’s still my favorite restaurant and I will 100% return.
Service was excellent but drinks were sub-par. Value was fair. Excellent ambience. Food was good. Waiters (bar & dining) made the night enjoyable as they were both very friendly, helpful and professional
The fish is cooked anyway you like it and is very fresh. We love the salad bar and wine list too. Great view of the harbor and beautiful sunsets are extrodinair! The bunnies are also fun to look at on the grass outside! Enjoy!
Unfortunately this birthday dinner for a group of 6 turned out to be quite a disappointment from the moment of check-in with the hostess. While booked on Open Table, the app apparently has difficulty changing the "number of guests" from the seemingly "default" setting of 2, although we tried and thought we had succeeded. We additionally wrote in the "NOTES" section that we were a party of 6. To no avail, as upon arrival there were no available tables for 6 and we had to wait over 30 minutes. After we were finally seated, in a way back room, the service was pretty dismal, from waiting forever for our wine and cocktails, to waiting for our meal. No one in management bothered to come over and ask how our dinner was. Maybe they already had an idea. The entire dinner took over 3 hours; way too long! Even though we are Landry Club members, we'll re -think any impulses to eat at the Chart House in Dana Point.
The meal was good as usual, but the service was slow and the timing of the delivery of the food was off. No one to fill water? App came way too late, and our entrees arrived too soon after. Something has changed.
We had to wait for 60 additional minutes after our reservation time. I had to keep reminding the staff that we are continuing to wait. Very poor service at checkin. Seems they overcommit on reservations and under deliver.
Great location - food and service but avoid the mixed drinks from the bar.
Beautiful restaurant! The food is excellent. I had the swordfish and it was cooked perfectly! Been coming here for over 30 years. Love it!
This place has great views, amazing service, and good food. The views are definitely what you are paying for.
The Chart House in Dana Point never disappoints. My wife and I continue to frequent it and have for more than 40 years. The waitstaff is always attentive, courteous and appreciated. The food is also very good. Our waitress this past Sunday, Bree, was terrific.
As usual, the food was exceptional and the views are spectacular!
Love the food -- love the view. when you have a reservation you are seated promptly,
We had a lovely Easter dinner. The service was excellent!
Food, service and the view were all excellent! We will definitely be coming back soon!
MY wife and I have been there many times and it's always been great.
Spectacular view, great food, fantastic for Happy Hour or dinner.
Fantastic view, fantastic food!
Everything was great other than the waiter sending out our food when we barely got started with the salad. Rookie mistake I guess. I let him know about it and it went back to the kitchen. Not the best way to kick things off😐
Fish preparation was good. However, the remaining portions of the dishes were uninspired. Your chef can be much more creative.
Delicious food, but small portions. Great wine list and the waiter was very helpful and attentive.
Food was all over cooked and very mediocre. They had a wedding in the restaurant, which is very nice, except the bar in the kitchen we're backed up, and food was very overcooked. I love chart house normally, this was not a good experience.
Always great service! View of harbor is stunning! Booths give some privacy in otherwise busy space. One of my local favs.
Are waiter Justin was fantastic , he loves his job, the Resturant and his customers. All his recommendations where outstanding.
Chart House Dana Point has never let me down. Was there for wedding anniversary with my wife and it couldn’t have been better. Excellent food and service with amazing view of harbor and coastline. Great for romantic evening. Thanks Chart House!
We often take out of town guests here for the view and the food. As you leave the car with the valet and your guests walk toward the door of the restaurant, they see a breathtaking view of the harbor below the cliff. Everyone wants a picture with that backdrop. Then you walk down a circular stairway into the restaurant that is unique. Seafood is perfectly prepared. Staff is friendly and timing is great. View is worth the $$.
We had a wonderful time here and our food was delicious.
Been going here since it first opened. Best Salad bar. Best location. Food is good. Honestly, We miss the way the original owners ran the business. Locals felt like it was OUR restaurant. Sad last night to see yet another menu price increase for this Spring and Summer. It means we will visit Chart House 5 times this year’s instead of 10.
Lovely view. Cory was attentive and personable. Except for “sizzling Mushrooms “, food was served lukewarm but tasty. As we dined early on a Tuesday evening, we enjoyed our ability to carry on a quiet conversation.
Over priced for the meal. Waiter forgot appetizer and then charged for 2 desserts when only one was ordered. Service was poor. Food was somewhat tasteless.
We have dined at Chart Houses in Portland, Maui, and now Dana Point, CA. All are known for stunning views and wonderful food. This was no exception. Starting with a Cosmo for me that was one of the best I’ve ever had, a shared appetizer of lobster spring rolls, moving on to a Caesar salad (the perfect amount of dressing - not dry but not drenched) with a good balance of tang and garlic. I had a mild white fish (sorry, I don’t recall the name) with a peanut sauce and chopped mango, Asian green beans, and sticky rice. Oh my, it was delicious.
My only complaint was that we made the reservations through Open Table, received an email confirmation from them and when we arrived the restaurant could not find the reservation. They were able to seat us and the view was spectacular.
My wife and I were celebrating our 2nd wedding anniversary. The Chart Hous ranked up there with Gladstones and The White House for best restaurant in town. Best view of Dana Point Harbour. Book your teservation for sunset. Ample menu we ordered Prime Rib and Filet Minion and it was great along with lava cake.
This time a visit with family; and it was perfect! My Uncle loves artichoke and it was cooked exactly like he likes, my cousin had the prime rib with a side of coconut shrimp and raved about both, my spouse had the lobster ravioli (only complaint he had was that he ate them all and wanted more), and I had the mahi mahi. Just - Wow! :)
