Chart House Restaurant - Dana Point Ratings and Reviews
Made reservations at6:30 pm and arrive on time. There were severe people waiting in the small waiting area, no place to sit. I was told that there was a delay in the reservation times. Everyone one waiting was called before us. I assume we all had reservations. When we were finally called, we were seated in back with no view. Two large tables in the middle area were filled with large noisy groups. Food was good and service was good. Overall experience was poor and the value was below average that evening.
Wife and I went there for Valentines Day. We had reservations for 10pm. We’re 15 minutes late do too car trouble. The staff were very nice and friendly. The meal was terrific, and the view spectacular. I would highly recommend The Chart House in Dana Point.
Overall experience was great. Place reservation a week in advance and staff honored it. Valet parking isn't expense either. The scenery is very nice. It regrettable we didn't a window seat to fully enjoy our evening. The noise level was very loud but that was due to the cramming of many smaller tables in center of room. The food was fantastic, prime rib was very flavorful.
Overpriced chain restaurant is what Chart House really is. Nothing great about the food, in fact the chef over cooks salmon. Not sure how that’s even possible. Clearly, this place isn’t familiar with high volume as it can’t keep up with the demand on a busy evening. Hostesses are friendly and act as if they are in Hollywood. Bar tenders can’t get a glass of wine out in under 15 minutes and food is just boring. We will only return for burgers and an outdoor seat during the late afternoon for the ocean and marina views. Outside of that, this place is simply mediocre with a high and unjustified price tag.
Overall it wasn’t to bad. However it took the waiter 15-20 minutes before he finally showed up at our table. The lobster bisque wasn’t as good as previous. My prime rib arrive Luke warm. I didn’t dare send it back because it would have taken forever to get it back. The ambience was awesome and the view was fabulous!
The Chart House was great! Mac Nut Ahi was delicious (that peanut butter sauce - mmmm), and the Filet Mignon with Blue cheese was amazing. Our server was awesome (knowledgeable, great recommendations, and overall on top of it) and the atmosphere was lovely. Will definitely be back!
We were celebrating our anniversary and we completely enjoyed our experience. We had a great view of the harbor and they acknowledged our anniversary with menus with our name on them and a dessert. We had two managers come over to make sure everything was good. We really appreciate places that go above and beyond to make sure you are happy and they did that for us. The atmosphere is perfect and very comfortable and we will definitely make this one of our go-to spots!
We were in Dana Point for one night so made a reservation at Chart House close to our hotel. We were seated right away, no wait. Our Server Candace was very professional and provided excellent service. Lots of non-meat selections, I had carrot soup and crab stack, my husband had the ahi tacos which were delicious. The Lava cake is a must!! We had dined at several Chart House, however this was the best one in terms of service and food.
The Chart House used to be one of our favorites in Dana Point. Our latest experience on 2/3/18 has changed that opinion. We ordered appetizers and a bottle of wine to start. The oysters Rockefeller wait was about 30 minutes and they made it to the table before the wine! We sat waiting for the wine and we're told that the manager had to get it. Really? for a $60 bottle of wine. After that, our dinner wait- time was extreemly long too. The waitress informed us that they were really busy and she was apologetic for our wait-times, but the manager should have dropped by our table too -Which he did not. Dinner reservations were at 6:45PM and we got out of there at 10PM. The bill was almost $400 for a party of 4 and we all felt that the manager should have offered at the minimal the courtesy of an apology for such poor service. Our next special night out will be someplace other than Chart House.
Food was fantastic although each course was a 30 minute wait. We ordered 3 courses.
At the end of the meal, the bill listed a bottle of wine that we did not drink & that was $8 more than the bottle that we did enjoy. On pointing this out to the waiter, he said the restaurant did not have a "button" for our wine so he was told to enter the more expensive one. He went back to the cashier & brought back the bill with a credit of $8 printed as "Guest Relations". This makes me feel that I must have complained about something & they made an accommodation for me! The bill also said I still owed $50 even though I had already given the waiter more than enough money to cover the total bill. I left a tip even though I am not happy with the service received.
Took my husband here for his 40th birthday and we had an amazing time. They sat us in a cozy booth with an ocean front view. What more can you ask for - great food, amazing ambiance and quiet enough to feel like we were the only ones in the restaurant. Highly recommend.
We made a reservation for our anniversary. We arrived and our table was not ready so we went to the bar to wait. We had one drink and after 20 min, the hostess says our table still isn’t ready but we can grab a booth in the bar. The bar was completely empty except for two other couples in booths. We decide to grab a booth in the bar so we could order now that it is after 9 pm. (Our reservation was at 8:30) we sit down in the booth and proceed to wait another 20 minutes before anyone approached. It felt as though the employees were prepping to close and we were not wanted. We just decided to have an appetizer and leave. I’m really disappointed in the service at this location. We have been dining here since 2002, we will not be back. Thanks for a terrible anniversary dinner.
