Chart House Restaurant - Dana Point Ratings and Reviews
The food was delicious with the exception of the steamed asparagus. It was a bit too crunchy and the ends were woody. Doubt they snapped them off. The coconut crunchy shrimp were wonderful, especially with the coconut creme dipping sauce!!! Great place to spend an anniversary evening!! Nicko brought us Mudd Pie for dessert since it was a special evening. Yummy goodness!!!!
The service was so horrible. Long silent waits to get water... to order (and then get) drinks, to order and then get food. Wrong entree brought. My husband ate his while we waited an eternity to report the error. The staff tried to recover by comping my meal but we won't be back. Happy birthday to both of us! :-(
Very disappointed in the turkey dinner, Turkey was cut thick like a steak and dry, wish I could have had a mixture of white and dark meat, had to ask for extra gravy to moisten the dressing and mashed potatoes, plus who has creamed spinach at thanksgiving for a vegetable. My husband had the stuffed shrimp and loved it, we love coming to the Chart house but I left wishing I had cooked at home.
went with 3 friends for thanksgiving. All ordered turkey dinner which got thumbs up from everyone except myself. I made the mistake of asking for dark meat which came as some tough overdone pieces shaved from the leg. Also the gravy was too salty. Otherwise all other items delicious and our server was outstanding!
Our experience for Thanksgiving dinner was generally positive. It was a spectaularly beautiful day and the vista from the restaurant was outstanding.
There were a couple drawbacks. The fixed price Thanksgiving dinner was not priced at $25.95 per person, but rather at $29.00 per person. This is a small discrepancy, but I like to be accurately informed in promotional material.
The service was not particularly good. While the restaurant was crowded for the holiday, our server did not appear rushed but rather indifferent. It was a difficult request to obtain refills of water, for example.
Thanksgiving dinner was very good - had all the components of traditional turkey dinner. Food was very good. Sweet potatoes with rum butter were delicious. Good size piece of pie.
View was spectacular! Servers and hosts and hostesses were very friendly and pleasant as were the car check gentlemen. Made for a very special Thanksgiving.
We arrived later than are reservation. I️ did cal to push it back. We were seated with in 5 minutes of arriving. We were comp. on corkage since we were celebrating a birthday. Nice. We also used Landry points and received $50 off our bill! All in all it was all good.
This was our 4th time eating here while traveling thru the area and it is always fantastic! This was the first time we were there for happy hour and it was amazing and a great value with a view. We had the ahi tuna appetizer and it was 4 star good.
My husband always has the filet and I have the prime rib. We have never been disappointed. Their lava cake is also fantastic!
This was our first visit. We were extremely disappointed. We will not be returning under any circumstances. We were not alone. There were only two others tables occupied and we heard the customers in the next booth demand to see the Manager. They seemed very dissatisfied as indeed we were !
We have visited Chart House with an on line reservation for party of 6, 3 times this year. My only complaint is we never get past the first room of seating. With a reservation 2 months in advance and a request for view of the harbor seating it's always seems to be taken.
Due to my job, I eat at high end resturants several times a month. Visiting Dana Point for a personal event I wanted to treat my wife to a great resturant for a date night. I chose Chart House because of the views and because the prices were high enough I thought it would be on the level of a Capital Grill or McKindricks. Well was I wrong... At the very beginning the hosts seated us without as much at looking at us. She wasn’t rude, but had the personality of an ice cube. The appetizers were mediocre at best with the bread for the bruschetta being so burnt, the burnt taste over powered the mushroom and shrimp on top. I ordered the steak medium rare which came out brown all the way through. When I told the waiter he apologized, but that was it. At any high end resturant the waiter would not have accepted this and would have insisted on taking the steak back. It wasn’t all bad, my wife got a salad and she like that. Our view was out the window through another window back into the resturant so I have no idea if this resturant has a view or not.
We celebrated our 26th anniversary and the Chart House made it a very special evening. Our first date was here 28 years ago and the Chart House is a special place for us. Thanks for making it a memorable evening! The food was amazing, the wine recommendation by our server was perfect and the dessert was off the charts!
I love the location of this restaurant. With the exception of. The fantastic coconut shrimp, the food was ok. The service was not great either. I worked in testaurants for over 10 years and have to say the overly superior attitude we encountered from the hostess stand to the dinner service was inexcusable. I ignored it on our July visit, but this time I couldn’t. Too bad. I used to go there at least once a month. I hope they address this because the property is so beautiful.
Very slow service. Busy at 6pm sat night so of course the window Table request was ignored. Waiter was nice. Hostess was less than accommodating. Ambiance was very nice. Food just average. Starters below average. Main course not noteworthy. Next time, drinks and enjoy the view. Not worth $325.00 for 4.
