Chart House Restaurant - Dana Point Ratings and Reviews
I made 7:30 dinner reservations for my husband’s Birthday. On arrival and check in our wait was about 15 minutes. Once seated our wait was about 10 minutes before we were greeted and asked about drinks. There were plenty of empty tables so I’m not sure why they were so slow. Our waiter wasn’t very knowledgeable about the wine list but we worked through it and ordered, drinks arrived in about 10 minutes. Our entrees came out in about 20 minutes. Our steaks were ordered medium rare and medium well, the well done one was medium rare and the the medium rare one was heavy medium. We would have sent them back but our waiter didn’t come back around. The potatos were on the cold side. I would recommend this place for the view but you would need to be seated before dark to enjoy it. I would rate this restaurant a 2 1/2 stars. With all the amazing restaurants in the area we probably won’t be going back.
Service was outstanding from Valet attendant to hostess to waitstaff. Everyone was attentive and professional. We had spring rolls to start then I had the Black & Blue Salmon with coconut ginger rice. Salmon had great flavor, rice was mediocre. My friend had the Cobia with shrimp, avocado & corn salsa. Cobia was delicious.
Great window booth with nice view of harbor.
Chart House has always been a favorite - but sometimes holidays can overwhelm their staff. We went on New Years Eve and they did a great job getting us in at our reservation time and getting a great seating location! Our server was very good and so was the food! We had a wonderful dinner experience!
Annual New Year's Eve Pilgrimage to The Chart House and they never disappoint. Wonderful dining, delicious food and spirits. Surprise this year was the addition of our energetic, fun, and attentive waiter CJ all the way from Minnesota.
CJ made the evening special, we'll definitely request him next year.
We have been there before and enjoyed it. We had a server that was in a hurry to get us out the door. We ordered the dessert he tried to talk us out it because it would take 30 mins to prepare. Out the door in just over an hour. Maybe a record but very disappointing.
We ordered swordfish, baked potato and salad bar for Christmas Day dinner. The salad bar was half empty...iceberg lettuce bowl had 10 pieces. We asked for our swordfish to be grilled and received a 5 inch swordfish with a horrible seasoning which was not mentioned when we placed our order. The baked potato was burnt. No I would not recommend this restaurant especially considering the expensive per item. The view was nice but I would rather have good food.
The good news is that the venue and view are lovely. Food is acceptable (not great). Service was probably the worst service we have experienced. Our server had to be told 3 times to please clean the table between courses. He seemed to be preoccupied. In all, the customer service was very poor.
We were seated right away by the window over looking Dana Point Harbor and Ocean. Very nice romantic ambiance.
Our server CJ served us with first class service. The food was awesome. We ordered Prime Rib Charter Cut 10 oz. was big and it just melted in my mouth. They surprised us with mud pie complimentary for our special occasion, wedding anniversary.
I will highly recommend Chart House Restaurant for your special occasion. The experience was amazing.
The young lady who greeted us seemed to lack sincerity. I asked for a table by the window. A couple arrived 10 minutes after us and was seated to a table by the window, but not my group. When asked, she seemed peeved. However, I was watching her behavior when the other woman asked about a window seat, and she got the sweeter version. I guess I will never know the truth. For this, I give this restaurant a 3 and not a 5.
