Delicious calamari for starters. New York steak was Ok. Mashed potatoes were to die for! Very courteous service. Great ambiance. Beautiful view!!! Amazing Chocolate Lava Cake!!!!
Spent our first 15 minutes killing flies against our window. Had a nice window table, but came with pests. Had to recook my steak as order wasn't right. Kinda pricey, selling some views. Had a $6 valet charge and many people parked on the street to avoid it. For not being packed, valet squeezed cars next to each other. Manually folded side mirror past automatic and had to push it out. Didn't want to walk too far I guess.
I book a reservation ahead of time with Open Table, and unfortunately, almost every time there is still a 30 - 45 minute wait for our table, despite having a reservation. The food is great, they have mainly seafood. I would suggest a pasta and chicken dish added to the menu. The waiters are good, the noise level is moderate - slightly loud, but there are several different areas to sit, which allows you to request a quieter room or area if needed.
As usual, they did not disappoint! Everything about our dinner was excellent...service, friendliness, the view, the food - it all came together to make a fantastic birthday celebration. In all my years of coming here, I've only ever had one night that was less than stellar and it was because they were short-staffed in the middle of graduation season. This is the place we choose for almost all of our truly special occasions because we know we can count on a great experience!
Hi Five to Ms Jody ! Made my 10 year anniversary a 10 plus . From the hostess Autumn, Jordan at the bar and Danielle the server top notch. Can’t forget Jody putting our name on the menu congratulating my wife and my anniversary ! Wow ! Beautiful evening 😍 Thank you again Jody 😃
Always a great place to dine and celebrate special occasions.
Food was good, but not great. Interior ambiance was not to our liking, very dark and dated feeling. Service was very good. Server was attentive but not fawning. Given the many choices in the area, I would probably choose another location for a special occasion.
Always wonderful food and service.
My wife and I had an incredible dining experience . The Chart House is fantastic with regards to trying to accommodate special occasions with their eye on details. Our hotel had called ahead to request a window view table which we got along with a menu that had our names printed at the top. Very "impressive"! Don't remember our waiters name, but he was equally attentive on a very busy Saturday night(7-6-19), with a wedding reception in the next room. We both had the prime rib, the portions were large, and cooked to perfection.
They sat us immediately on time. We felt like we were being rushed a little when we got to our table...Three in our party ordered the Prime Rib and it was outstanding! I had the salad bar and it was Great!
The worst service I have experienced in many years. Table was left with dirty dishes for most of the meal, we were left without drinks for 15 minutes at a time, multiple times and never saw any personnel that could help. We waited over 30 minutes for a dessert we ordered at the same time as our entrees. Our server was MIA and unapologetic. There is no way they were unaware of the low service levels and we never saw a manager or anyone else to check on us or back up our server. Used to be our favorite place, we will not return again.
If you book a reservation, you can’t get any happy hour items which is something I will remember for next time. It’s a nice view but a stuffy atmosphere. Average food that’s very expensive for what it is. If I go again I’ll just go to the bar and try to grab a seat outside.
We requested a full view table and were told that it'd be an additional 15 minute wait. We told the hostess we'd be at the bar. They never came and got us. By the time I had checked on them, there were three open tables not yet cleaned and the sun had set. They blew it. Then they had over cooked one meal and under cooked another. They made that right by re-firing it and giving us a discount. All in all, it was a bummer.
We have gone to the Chart House so many times for special occasions. I don’t know why, but we always seem to get the one window booth that doesn’t have a view. I wonder what it takes to get one of the good ones.
Our waiter was great. Our hostess was great. I would say that as a regular at this chart house, here needs to be a little more attention paid to the ceasar salad preparation. It is a little weird having to ask busy waiters to prep the salad at the salad bar. And ... it is inconsistent. Some prepare it better than others. Also, I dont know why cottage cheese was eliminated from salad bar years ago.
Although the restaurant was very empty, we received terrible service and the food was average. Not what we were expecting from this highly recommended restaurant.
This was our 41st Anniversary and we usually love the Chart House. The service was great, the view is outstanding and the food was good for one person and not so good for the other. We had salad bar which we love and has everything you could want, one of us had King Crab that was outstanding and very generous in the portion. The other had a lobster tale which was disappointing, it was small, very greasy, and tasted just OK, it had gristle that was not appealing and usually not found at a good restaurant. Overall we had a good time but when one person is so disappointed in their meal it isn't the greatest thing in the world. We will go again, but won't order lobster.
View, service & food all top notch!
We were seated on time. The service and food was excellent, as usual.
Delicious food, fabulous view and great service!
Scallop and shrimp summer special was extremely delicious, but a little pricey! The location and views are gorgeous, making this a special place for dinner. The food was tasty but a bit overpriced.
We saw our server 2x the entire nite, the food was horrible, I made reservations for 6 pm we got sat at 630pm, I requested a window table and we didn’t get sat by a window! The steak was over cooked, the mashed potatoes had a hard cover due to sitting under heat lamp for a long time, for the money it’s not worth it and I over heard an older gentleman say that location was closing. Save your money and go elsewhere, what a great 10 yr anniversary we had
The Chart House in Dana Point is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is excellent, and so is the service. This time our waiter was Devin, and he was exceptional...attentive, informative, knowledegable about the food, and fun to talk to. We were celebrating a birthday of a close friend, and we had the best time! I would highly recommend this restaurant to all visitors of Dana Point.
You absolutely need to try the crab, shrimp, avocado and mango stack! Delicious food, great service and beautiful view...as always!
Wonderful food! Amazing view! Service was alright, took a little too much time to get menus and get greeted. But the waiter was very nice after that. Service as a whole was a little slow to get things. But the evening over all was great.
We had a wonderful experience at Chart House at Dana Point. The restaurant ambiance is great, very classy, the food was excellent (especially the appetizers). We had Jagger serving us and he was really nice, attentive and helped give us info on our menu selections. The restaurant also noted our 40th wedding anniversary by having the menu printed with a note at the top saying "Happy Anniversary to the Beckstrom's" -- what a fantastic touch; we were so surprised and impressed. The whole experience really made us feel special. Everyone was very nice, including the valet parking attendant. We will be back! Thank you Chart House!
I would recommend visiting the Chart House in Dana Point for the drinks and the view and the mud pie. I have visited Chart House restaurants all over the place and always had a fabulous experience so that is why this is so hard to write.
We went on a Saturday night and the view was breathtaking! We had reservations but were asked to wait about 15 minutes to be seated so we meandered into the bar and ordered a couple of their signature drinks, both were wonderful and the bartender was outstanding.
We were then seated at our table a few minutes later our waitress came, introduced herself and went to get water for us. She came back in about 10 minutes with water and we ordered an appetizer at that time. The appetizer came quickly and she came back and we ordered our dinners. We went to the salad bar and came back and then I remembered that our daughter ordered a clam chowder we had to flag the waitress down and tell her, she apologized and went and go the chowder with no crackers, we asked her for some and she brought some saltines, no oyster crackers (disappointing). We then sat for I would say almost an hour before our dinners came, she never came back to check on us or ask if we needed refills on drinks, etc. We had to stop a bus boy and request drink refills. When we did get our dinners we were all very disappointed, the food was very mediocre. We did order desert which also took about 30 minutes to be served but it was fantastic!
Service was awful. Great location but service needs help. This is the second time this has happened to us. Complained to manager all she did was comp my entrée. Waiter kept disappearing we were at our table for two hours when we received our entrée. Took him 30 minutes to bring our bottle of wine. Great views very bad service!!
Busy Sat night at 5:45 - had to wait for a window booth; service overall was friendly but slow. My husband’s birthday - nice special menu and gratis dessert. Awesome view. Surprisingly lots of kids - a bit noisy but booth was very private. Lobster bisque and Mac nut mahi were excellent. My husband’s bourbon shrimp/scallops tasty but skimpy. Overall a nice experience.
Great views, busy but great service, food was good except the filet was tasteless
Always a great place for friends and family, with a great view.
Not all that’s great
Our service wasn’t as great as I hoped. Food was great though. Please bring back the dynamite sauce.
Best view in Orange County. Excellent salad bar and very good food. Prices reflect first rate location.
Spectacular view, great drinks, poor food presentation, poor service.
It's all about location and architectural design...gorgeous, unique and fabulous view! The food is good but a overpriced for what you receive in terms of value.
Everything was excellent. We particularly enjoyed the peach bourbon scallops and shrimp.
A wonderful experience, indeed. Go here on a date!
We loved the view, the food and the service was terrific. We also had a great bottle of wine and we thought all the pricing was very fair, including the wine.
Fabulous view of Dana Point Harbor! Delicious prime rib! If you are here for a celebration (anniversary, birthday, etc), they will recommend the dessert (lava cake, etc), which is very tasty, but be aware that they do charge for it. $6 valet parking, but some parking is available on the street. Will return! Already recommended to friends!
