Incredible view and amazing building. Every seat has a view.
The hostess and the waiter did a great job at receiving us and the order was served fairly quick. The ambience was really nice and allowed us to have a normal conversation without having to shout. The salad bar was nice as well which is something I wasn’t aware of.
the wait staff is not attentive or prompt. this service loss has been evident for last 2 years, and no improvement.
must be evident in lost customers. venue is NEVER full anymore. i only use it for out of town folks
as view is stunning.....
It's not just the World Class View, it's the professional service and excellent presentation and taste of the food. I would recommend this restaurant to all of my friends!
Good service, lovely view, excellent ambience
Food was excellent. Service was great until we were ready to leave, then we couldn't find our waiter. Ambiance was quite nice, view was great, maybe a little overpriced, but not bad. We'll definitely be back.
Don’t go unless you are a local!!! We had 630 reservations for 2 but arrived at 610 to have a cocktail before dinner. Checked in and went to the bar. Bartenders were nice and service was fast. We sat for about 35 minutes, 20 mins past our reservation when we checked to see why we hadn’t been seated and were told 15-20 more minutes. This was already well past our reservation. Then a group 4 sat next to us at the bar. Just as they got their drinks they were seated. We asked and they told us they had 7pm reservations. The bartenders tried to assist and asked for the manager. While waiting for manager the hostess came to the bartenders within earshot and told them we had made a special request and that was why we were waiting. Complete fabrication and the last straw. We left after the worst experience with reservations I have ever experienced. Very disappointed.
Thought it was strange that I was first one in at Chart House last Sat. watch everyone else get seated for 20 min. I finally got up to say something then they seated me without me saying anything. I'm a very loyal patron and found this odd, but no worries food was great as usual.
Started off with no valet parking available and had to park 1/2 mile away due to a wedding.
General manager did nothing other than give us 2 appetizers for a group of 9 after a 10 minute conversation. Said that parking was not their issue as it is a third party vendor.
Table service was good.
Long time before we go back to this location.
The Chart House was great. Unfortunately, there was a city power outage scheduled for that night. The wait staff was making it seem like we weren't going to be able to order our dinner. In the end, everything turned out fine.
We frequent the Chart House for Special Occasions, if I had any criticisms it would be that the restaurant struggle with groups bigger than 6 and lord if you have a last minute addition...I felt guilty for asking!
Enjoyable evening. Always great service!
This is my favorite restaurant. The food and service are outstanding. To top all that off is the beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean! We have been here a few times but this time with a couple friends. Our friends were annoyed that the side vegetable dishes came much later than the main courses.
Celebrating a Birthday
Have been to the Charthouse Dana Point before many times and this time did not disappoint. The view is wonderful, service was spot-on and food was great as always. We will be back.
We were looking forward going to the Dana Point location, especially for the sunset view.We hadn’t been to a Charthouse in years in quite a few years. The interior was a little outdated but the view is amazing. It wasn’t crowded so we did get a window seat. Our waiter, Michael was fantastic, very attentive, and we never felt rushed. The bread was warm & flavorful but it all stopped there, we ordered prime rib, flavorless, tough and lukewarm. Thought that was one of their specialties! Don’t think we will be going back anytime soon.
Service was great, the food excellent.
Sitting was horrible. Even though we specifically requested a booth with view, and confirmed... they gave us one of the back booths. When asked, they said a view booth would take 45 mins. Which was a lie. A few minutes passed and 3 view booths opened up. When again asked, they said those were reserved, and will ask the manager. No manager showed up, no change of seating. Lies again.
What a great evening. Great view, ambiance food and service. So much so we reserved a table for ten for our family Christmas dinner. Signed up for the loyal card as well.
first, great view. second, great food. best salad bar i have seen. food is hard to beat on a consistent basis. third, great service. fair score on the pricing, but i bet it would match or even beat prices of a similar restaurant. i am just not used to paying that much for a dinner, because i go to a high end restaurant only on special occasions.
Server had multiple tables and while very friendly, seemed distracted by the many claims on his attention. We as diners were distracted by small children outside, climbing a fence that separated them from a cliff. The parents were AWOL
Aside from that, the setting is unmatched, the food adequate. We will probably be back
Dinner at sunset at the window is a must, arrive before reservation to request the window, not guarenteed
Awesome! Can’t wait to go back. Love the new Wednesday & Thursday bites & drinks menu in the bar , too
Always go here, the view is incredible, food great.
Chart House was great. The view of Dana Point Harbor was a bonus
We had excellent service. We were told up front that it iess first come first serve, but we were seated in a great seat and had a Great server.
The view from the restaurant is unique. Service and food are very good. Value is fair.
Sorry, but I'm writing the Dana Point Chart House off my list. The waiter was fine, but didn't pay much attention to our party of 8. In fact, the DP Chart House can't (space-wise) adequately handle parties larger than six. I brought two library wines which the waiter uncorked, but never came back to pour even one glass. He is obviously not trained to do that, so I don't see where the restaurant can reasonably charge a corkage fee. We ordered several drinks from the bar as well, and several appetizers, so many there wasn't room for them on the table. Very crowded table accommodations.
My Ono was overcooked so dry I left most of it on my plate. My wife's chicken was overcooked as well. I wanted the Citrus Calamari, a long time DP Chart House appetizer, and was disappointed to find out it was discontinued. All and all I was so disappointed I will not be returning.
Our evening began by being seated with a large mosquito flying around our table. When we informed our waiter he handed my son a small cocktail napkin and asked him to squish it. That about wraps up our evening at this establishment. The service was subpar and the food was average. The building is very nice, the cocktail we had was very tasty, and the view is great (unless you get sat in the corner like we did). Maybe it was a fluke visit, I don't know if we would return.
The noise level resulting from the echo chamber where the circular portion of the restaurant is (where the booths are ) was so loud that it completely ruined our evening ..
We would have asked to move but had the impression the noisy group was leaving any minute
The server didn’t do anything or the manager - when a birthday party continues with a young child yelling non stop - the server kept saying they were leaving - but it went on throughout our early evening dinner -
The restaurant is in bad need of upgrading - but considering the horrible acoustics in the lower circular booth area - they should not seats families with small children - every sound is amplified -
We could not hear each other through dinner - and sadly it ruined our evening ....
We were disappointed in the quality of food. Three out of the four dinners we ordered were not enjoyable.
We love the Chart House in Dana Point! The food, and service are good and the view is fantastic!
The restaurant has an amazing view. I had salmon which was delicious but my husbands Ono was over cooked. While our server was pleasant, our coffee was not served with dessert and we waited quite some time to get our bill.
Special night out with my wife after relocating from Nor Cal to So Cal.
Promised I wouldn’t go back. But had company that wanted to try
Service is horrible. Main course came before they served appetizers. Brought wrong drink order and brought appetizers in two portions at different times. Service is pathetic. Now I’m certain I will never go back
Overall it was good and my party was pleased. I was disappointed on my prime rib. For the cut and price, it was tough and too much fat. Would never consider ordering that agin.
We made 5:00 reservations so our chances of getting a window seat would be likely. We got a window seat, and it was a clear day, so you could see for miles. The dinner experience was wonderful all around. We started with the kim chee calamari appetizer, recommended by our server -- it was delicious!
We made a trip to the lavish salad bar, and had prime rib for dinner. The service was impeccable (thank you Amanda). It was a memorable evening.
I eat here as often as I can. Never had but excellent service.
The calamari appetizer was delicious.
First time we had been there in a long time. Don't know why we took so long to go back. Food, Service, and ambience was excellent. Lava cake was excellent. Order it ahead. It takes about 30 minutes.
