Chart House Restaurant - Cardiff Ratings and Reviews
Everything was excellent! The service, food, view...perfect! Then, my date left his credit card there by mistake and because I had made a reservation, they had my cell #, called and he was able to retrieve his card before driving all the way back to Oceanside. Can't wait to visit again!
Excellent dinner at Charthouse for last minute meal. We started with the stack of shrimp and crap meat and it was loaded with both on a bed of avocado and mango. I had the scallops and my husband had the macadamia nut mahi. I had the better meal but both were great. Special thanks to our fabulous waiter who moved us to a table closer to the window so we could enjoy the view. Very good meal.
We went to Chart House for Restaurant Week. They still have $30 3-course menus which is rare for this great of a restaurant. We got there early for the sunset, and we were lucky enough to get a window table. It is first come, first serve for window seating. The appetizers were creative, gourmet, and colorful. I have the ahi and salmon poke, my husband had the shrimp, and our friends had the coconut ceviche (yes, you heard that right). We ordered the Coconut Shrimp, New York Steak Saltado, and the Scallops for our entrees. All were yummy. The deserts were especially good too. But best of all was the amazing, spectacular sunset.
The picture below looks unreal, but it was taken through the window of the restaurant.
WE WERE SHOPPING FOR SOMEPLACE TO HAVE OUR 30TH ANNIVERSARY LUNCHON AND WE WENT NO FURTHER OUR SERVER WAS VERY FRIENDLY AND MADE OUR LUNCH FUN ! SHE WAS SMILING I THINK THE ENTIRE TIME WE WERE THERE ! SHE IS A DEFINATE ASSET! WE WILL BE BACK AND WILL HAVEOUR ANNIVERSARY LUNCHON THERE ON APR 29TH
Waiter Adam - outstanding!!!
No one Relayed the fact that this was a birthday celebration so no one recognized that in any way. The reservation on opentable stated this and fact that needed gluten free and this was not recognized either. Prime rib was top notch. We have cebrated 3 family member birthdays almost entirely the last 6 years and this was disappointing not to recognize Birthday
I made a reservation through Open Table for a Friday night. Surprisingly, the restaurant was only about half full, possibly because it was a holiday weekend (MLK Day). We did not order an appetizer but we did order a nice bottle of pinot noir wine. Unfortunately, while we were eating the complementary bread (tasty), we finished our entire bottle of wine before our food showed up! Super slow. Then, my mashed potatoes we barely luke-warm. The server brought some more mashed potatoes in a super hot dish, but the potatoes themselves were still only slightly warmer than the first batch. Completely unacceptable. The only reason I am not giving 1 star is because our fish (the crusted salmon and the grouper) were excellent. We were also seated next to a large table with a family with several young, often loud children. We live in the local area and are Landry's Club members, but after this past visit, we'll have to think hard before coming back again....
Overall, not impressed so won't be going back. The King Crab legs were cold, no drawn butter brought out, and the prime rib was nothing to write home about. Pretty expensive, so I'd expect more. Habe been there a handful of times, and it just seems to be more and more mediocre. There are better places along the coast. Waitress was great, so it wasn't her fault... the crab legs did get comp'd by the manager, but doesn't change the fact that they were horrible. It was NOT crowded, so the crowd can't be to blame.
we went there for NYE 2017. table was not ready at our time which was totally fine. we sat down and our waitress hardly ever came by. we asked nicely the difference between two types of fish and she acted bugged that we asked and explained very fast. she brought 3 soups and 20 minutes later came by and i said.. they did not bring my salad. she said oh.. they did not? and ran off and got it. 20 minutes later. all my party was done eating their soup. my husband by this time was getting irritated. she rarely came by to check on us ever the whole night. they brought our food and my daughter's fries where super cold and dry. i told her the fries are super cold. she said they are.. like how could that be?? she did bring fries out that were very hot in that funnel cup so that was nice. we did have another waiter help us get some silverware and he was super nice and another one walking by talked to us and was super pleasant. i think we just did not get a good waitress. she was young and impatient. would not tell anyone to go here!
Everything was perfect other than an hour wait even though we had a reservation!!
When we got there we were told to be seated in 15 min. Then every 15 min later we were told the same thing. 4 times total. They should tell you that there is an hour wait and not lie to us.
We had a fabulous New Year's Eve dinner. Our waiter Andrew was fantastic! He was extremely attentive and made several suggestions, which made our meal even more enjoyable. We love the fact the Chart House does not have a set or limited menu. We would recommend the Chart House for excellent service, food and views!
Outside of the completely un-necessary Valet Parking. I always laugh as I pull up and the Valet grabs my keys and proceeds to park my car 25 feet from where I just entered. I can do that myself guys. My waitress Kimber was great and very attentive. The swordfish was good sized and delicious. However, the accompanying sweet potatoes were barely over the size of a tablespoon. I recommend at the very least, a regular size potatoes people. It was a very nice meal overall.
This is the second time in a row that we ordered Lava Cakes before we ordered our food and neither time did we get them.
The first time was in July for my birthday and the waitress forgot to place the order.
This past Saturday we had a guest from New York and we raved about the Lava Cakes. We followed up twice with our waiter and he assured us they were in the making. After asking a couple times about the ETA, he told us they were out of the oven and cooling before putting on the ice cream. 15 minutes after that my husband talked to the manager and asked for the check so we could leave. (Our 2 year old granddaughter had to leave because of nap time).
Ordered at 11:30 am. We left at 1:15pm.
We were excited to go on a date at the Chart House . My husband didn't even get to eat a meal. The steak he ordered was overcooked initially, then when they tried to fix it, it came cold and raw. They were only going to comp that meal at first, but we were very disappointed that they werent going to take care of anything else. After we complained, the manager took off the appetizers. I won't be going there again.
Our time at this Chart House was a poor service experience from start to finish.
For starters, I had requested reservations at 5PM and a window seat for a dinner as a birthday celebration for a party of 5. One of our guests in the party was unable to make it to the dinner and I advised the hostess that we were now a party of 4. Two minutes later the hostess informed us that the window table selected for us would not be available since we were now a party of 4. So she proceeded to seat us at a location about 3 table rows away from the window.
Our server soon arrived and took our drink requests. Drinks arrived, we gave our food order and from that point on the service was sparse and our food took incredibly long to arrive. From start to finish we were in the restaurant for 2 1/2 hours!! We discussed our issues with the manager, who apologized for our long wait time AND for not being seated at the original window seat. NOT A GOOD RESTAURANT EXPERIENCE.
Restaurant was half empty yet we still had to wait to be seated 10 minutes past our reservation hour (7:00). We were seated at a tiny table in an odd nook. Again there are Many table open.
Our Initial Drink order didn't arrive at the table till 7:39. Complementary bread was also missing.
Once we had decided that we where both going to have the White Sea Bass (different preparations) , she informed us that they are out of the Sea Bass...... UGH!!
back to the drawing board... I order filet, she orders shrimp pasta. once you have your heart set on something, it's though to order something similar, so that is why I chose filet.
the rest of the evening was good. service was a bit slow though out but not terrible.
All food was tasty and prepared correctly.
I will give it another try, but if i have a similar experience, i will have to take it off my restaurant rotation.
Everything was great. Only one complaint. Asked and waited for a window table. We were given a window however it overlooked the parking lot with just a peekaboo view of the ocean. Should have asked for another but did not. Very disappointed as we made a special trip and stayed at a local Marriott just to go for dinner there. Won’t bother going again.
