The food and the service were both excellent. Loved the Lobster Bisque and the Clam chowder. Fish and chips and coconut shrimp were also enjoyed by our group. We will go back again.

All the dishes ordered were excellent: the shrimp appetizer, the soups and the main dishes of blackened salmon and chicken. They were delicious, including the non alcoholic drink with cucumber, mint and honey. Service was outstanding . We enjoyed the location and the view.

Very good food, esp the calamari appetizer, the ahi entrée & the ever popular mud pie. Our server, Adam, was very friendly and attentive. Unlike so many restaurants the ambient noise was more than tolerable -- we could actually carry on a conversation which is the whole reason we like to dine out together. Likely it's louder on other nights but this Tuesday evening was ideal. The ocean view was marvelous and the whole staff very accommodating when our originally scheduled group of 10 dwindled to 6 people. The Chart House will remain one of our go-to places.

Reservation made day before and had to wait 20 minutes after arriving to get table with restaurant at 50% capacity???? Not good.....5 star restaurant and prices should deliver better service...

Server was super weird and mentioned that she breast fed her kid until he was 4 1/2 years old. Also strange that the server had to order soda refill from the bar, which took like 10 minutes every time. Lame that the only parking is valet, which costs $6.

Waitresses need to present themselves better. Acted like they don’t want to be there. Food unremarkable. Needs staff and food choice revamps.

Doughy bread, salty 80’s style food, ice under the oysters was dyed bright blue.....??? C’mon! Someone needs to revamp this place and remake/update the menu. It’s a shame because the location is beautiful

After considerable wait we were seated upstairs where the only view was the lower floor. Might as well have been in a shopping mall. The tables were waiting so no idea why were we not seated earlier. The room was so dark I had to use my phone light to read the menu, and the waiter was unmoved by that. Then we had to wait for a looooong time for our wine, somebody apparently did not get the order right. Then we were fed extremely fat calamari which we polished up as we got very hungry from all the waiting. The waiter was trying very hard to make a conversation and be overly friendly. The main course was quite tasty and, fortunately, small size, but nothing remarkable. The best part was the wine.
We see no reason to be coming back: no view, long wait for no reason, food just OK, service missing the point most of the time. We see nothing to recommend, either.

I’ve been to the Charthouse many times before, so it was my pick to celebrate my 40th birthday. We had a 6pm reservation and requested a table by the window.
When we checked in at 5:50p, we again requested a table by the window. We were told it would be an additional 20 minutes, so we agreed to wait. At 6:30, we were finally seated, but it was NOT a table by the window. After a few minutes, our frantic server swung by the table to take our drink and appetizer order. We had also brought a nice bottle of wine which we requested to be opened. 30 minutes went by, while we sat at the table. No water, no bread, no wine opened, no bar drinks, no apps and no server. So I got up and looked for a manager, whom I found polishing glasses. I asked him if he could help our table since we had now been there an hour. He was not terribly friendly, but did follow me back to our table to open the wine. As he was pulling out the cork, our server resurfaced and told the manager that he was opening the wine for the wrong table. The wine WE had brought to the restaurant. The service this night was among the worst I’ve ever had, anywhere. The food was very good with the exception of the spinach salad. But overall a very disappointing night on what should have been an important celebration.

The Chart House in Cardiff is a fine dining restaurant located in a beautiful spot by the beach, and our window table was perfect spot to celebrate our Anniversary. The staff was friendly,
professional. The lunch menu offered good choices, the Salmon on a cedar plank was delicious. We felt the service was efficient but not rushed. We will return again, maybe for diner next visit.

Exceptional seafood restaurant with very good service and excellent food. I had grilled swordfish that was cooked to perfection while my wife had the coconut crusted shrimp which was scrumptious. The ambiance in the restaurant was beautiful with spectacular views of the ocean making the dining experience special .

Reservation a joke. Res was for 5pm; seated at 5:40. I know it was valentine day and they were busy. Next year I think we'll try for 4pm or 4:30 pm

I had made reservations more than 2 weeks in advance and was not happy when I arrived that I had to still wait 20 minutes; we were that on time too. I had wanted a seat with a view and instead ended up upstairs with no view. Meal was okay but the waiters were very good.

It was Valentines's Day dinner and the Chart House in Cardiff seemed to be not well prepared or was seriously overbooked. My wife and I are members of the Landry Restaurant's Dinning Club so we were concerned.
Customers with reservations were standing 20 deep waiting for tables. However customers seated were staying in place to see the sunset and table service seemed to be very slow. The seating staff was polite and friendly and trying their best to keep things under control. A number of folks walked out after they saw the waiting line.
After waiting 45 minutes past our reservation time, but having a seat and a glass of wine, we now saw what seemed to be a manager come on the scene and was running about. People were offered a seating in a upper mezzanine area which did not have a view - one of the prime reasons that folks select this restraraunt. We also saw a number of additional wait staff appear. We were finally seated, waited on quickly by a very good wait staff. The food was excellent, as it had been on previous visits. It was sad to see a very fine restaurant in such a state on a major dinning occasion.

Reserved a table for Valentine’s Day dinner. Waited 20 minuets before we were seated and while we were waiting there was no where to sit because the bar was completely full, very limited seating for waiting for a table so we were standing around. We were really looking forward to the Harpist which was never there?? We were kind of rushed the whole time throughout our dinner(not romantic at all!) We were not as happy as we usually are with this restaurant and we come here very often. I would definitely recommend NOT coming here for Valentine’s Day dinner. It definitely is not the right environment for a couple to spend time romantically together. And there was never really a special menu for Valentine’s Day it was just the basic menu.

The lobster bisque was - as always - rich and superb. The pan fried scallops were fantastic, nestled in a bed of wasabi mashed potatoes. Induced my food coma with the chocolate lava cake and made it home to dreamland with a satisfied smile on my face. Well done Chart House!

The poorly groomed hostess took a belligerent attitude and made us wait 30 minutes (even though the table was ready the whole tone). Even the manager was useless.
I was a good customer, but I don’t really like to be mistreated. The menu hasn’t changed and is rather boring. I will not be recommending. This is not the first yime that I had unpleasant experience with the hostess. I’ve had to call the manager twice before.

We had cousins coming from the freezing mid-west. It was their anniversary, day prior to Valentines Day. What better spot to take them to a late lunch, out of snow and ice, than to sit on the ocean, in the sun, having a romantic and special visit. Our service was beyond impeccable, fast and professional. The food and drinks were spot on. Especially the shrimp cocktail which arrived in a cloud of fluffy dry ice. We ordered multiple appetizers and entrees, each and every one were delicious, delivered promptly, and the presentation was impeccable. The price was especially appreciated with our AARP discount. We go to your venue frequently for happy hour which we make into our dinner. The ambience, staff, food make you a home away from home and makes a proud representation for San Diego for out out of town guests. I wish I could recall the name of our server, but she was excellent and added to our experience.

Enjoyed a quiet evening on a Monday night. Excellent service. Had a great dinner while watching the surf. Very relaxing. Gave a 4* for food as I've had better at the Chart House. Ordered the shrimp and pasta. The flavor was good but I really didn't like the big thick noodles with it. My husband ordered a Caesar salad and we both commented on how small it was. Didn't look like their normal size salad. But other than that everything was 5*!!!
