Great food and service. it was for a birthday celebration and we had free dessert and free coffee, and an extra free ice cream! Staff was friendly and very attentive to our needs. Good place to celebrate special occasions.
The only thing I was not happy with was our reservation was for 7:30 but we weren’t seated til 8 pm. Other then that the food, service and view were great.
Despite having a reservation, it took them almost an hour to seat us!!!
The only thing that bothered us was we were kicked out a 21h45 on a Thursday night.
Our waiter was speedy.
We were not finish our entry that our meal showed up
then we had 1/3 of the bottle of wine left and he showed up with the desert.
But a very nice place and the food was very good....
We had a reseveation for 18h45 but got our table at 19h30
ok we had a drink at the bar before.
but when we selected our meal and got our salade it was 20h30
So an hour and 15 minutes was a fast run
Peter n mark the manager are awesome
Service a bit slow but very good. Kimber was friendly & attentive to my allergies. Fish great. Few glitches: topper for fish came late from kitchen staff, internet down causing delay in paying bill.
It had been close to 30 years since we last dined at the Chart House when it was in La Jolla. We lived in another state for most of that time and recently moved back. We were not disappointed. Was as we remembered it, but better. Only disappointment was that they no longer had their outstanding salad bar (or if they did, we missed it). Our waiter and the service were superb, exceptional selection of appetizers and entrees, and we were seated at a wonderful table overlooking the ocean (just like the old location in La Jolla). Though we didn't purchase a bottle of wine, their selections were broad and really good. As it was a birthday celebration, the restaurant went to extra effort to personalize the birthday boy's menu with a Happy Birthday salutation! The final check for 4 was less than say, for example, Mister A's but equivalent to Jake's.
A great view - right on the beach. Always good service. Always great food. The Cobia was awesome. The decor is very pleasing. It's a very relaxing and inspiring place.
Very Nice restaurant, and the staff was very helpful and friendly.
Celebrated my birthday week going to one of my all time favorite restaurants. The food and service never disappoints. They gave me a table right by the window for a beautiful ocean view. They even had happy birthday on my menu which was pretty cool.
For appetizers I had the jumbo lump crab cake which I believe is of all the restaurants I’ve ever had. So fresh and tasty. Also ordered kimchi calamari which is also one of the best calamari appetizers you’ll ever have.
Dinner I had the macadamia mahi which they’ve had for years and always stays consistently delicious.
Finally, for me the main attraction is their Molten Lava Cake. I mean, it just doesn’t get any better for a chocolate lover. It’s made fresh, tastes incredible. The moist and softness of the cake with the chocolate and ice cream along with chocolate fudge is incomparable. It is my absolute favorite dessert ever.
I’ve been eating at chart house now for 20 years. Some items come and go, but the lava cake is here to stay. Besides the dessert, the ocean view and the fresh seafood with amazing service will always have me coming back for more!
Great views. Average food. Salad dressings all had way too much vinegar.
Great restaurant with a wonderful ocean view. The staff are very polite and courteous. The food was excellent. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a nice romantic dinner.
Food was so yummy! My steak was so die for!! Our server was so sweet, absolutely wonderful. Amazing lemon drops too, that was a bonus.
We enjoyed dining at the Chart House. The view was spectacular and the food was delicious. I had an assortment of Shrimp and my husband had the Ahi.
We have driven by the restaurant many times and finally decided to give it a try. We’ll definitely be back.
One of our favorites especially when friends are in town. The sunset was awesome and as usual the food and service was great!
Excellent service, great view, and great food including excellent lobster bisque and coconut shrimp. YUM!
food was amazing! service was a bit hit and miss and he had a few tables seated at the same time- not his issue but more the hostess
Best view ever
Customer service excellent. Checked in with hostess. Greeted us with a smile and escorted us to a window table. Beautiful scenery as the sun sets. Amazing. Great dinner too. Great waitress. Thank you.
Great experience every time-food, service, ambience and of course the view....and our fav server Dana!
Heather and Brittany did a wonderful job of making us feel welcomed. We ate at another local restaurant in Del Mar the night before. Nice, but very noisy and the portions were somewhat smaller. The prices were similar to Chart House. Chart house had better value, a more personable wait staff, and we had a much better experience here. There was still noise, but at least it was the sound of people who were enjoying themselves. I appreciated the fact that Heather had a history at Chart House and the area and it shows in her ease of manner with her customers. Both of our mothers' were waitresses, and we have a knowledge of what the job entails and the pros and cons associated with it. Our dinners were delicious and well portioned. Prices were about what we expected. The menus with "Happy 32nd" and anniversary card were an unexpected but sweet touch, as well as the sweet dessert! The sunset was spectacular (no, you can't take credit) and we enjoyed our window seat view. I found out today that my Aunt eats at Chart House when she is in Solana Beach. Nicely done, Chart House!
Beautiful location, wonderful food, and great service. We will certainly be back again.
Great food, great vibe, great view. Felt like I won a trifecta.
long wait despite reservation, poor and slow service marginal food for the price
The food and the service were both excellent. Loved the Lobster Bisque and the Clam chowder. Fish and chips and coconut shrimp were also enjoyed by our group. We will go back again.
All the dishes ordered were excellent: the shrimp appetizer, the soups and the main dishes of blackened salmon and chicken. They were delicious, including the non alcoholic drink with cucumber, mint and honey. Service was outstanding . We enjoyed the location and the view.
Very good food, esp the calamari appetizer, the ahi entrée & the ever popular mud pie. Our server, Adam, was very friendly and attentive. Unlike so many restaurants the ambient noise was more than tolerable -- we could actually carry on a conversation which is the whole reason we like to dine out together. Likely it's louder on other nights but this Tuesday evening was ideal. The ocean view was marvelous and the whole staff very accommodating when our originally scheduled group of 10 dwindled to 6 people. The Chart House will remain one of our go-to places.
Reservation made day before and had to wait 20 minutes after arriving to get table with restaurant at 50% capacity???? Not good.....5 star restaurant and prices should deliver better service...
Server was super weird and mentioned that she breast fed her kid until he was 4 1/2 years old. Also strange that the server had to order soda refill from the bar, which took like 10 minutes every time. Lame that the only parking is valet, which costs $6.
We celebrated Valentine’s Day dinner belatedly, Kimbra was an amazing waitress and we had a marvelous time!
Love the Chart House for the view, service and food.
Right on the beach with a beautiful view for sunsets. Great seafood dishes!
Waitresses need to present themselves better. Acted like they don’t want to be there. Food unremarkable. Needs staff and food choice revamps.
Doughy bread, salty 80’s style food, ice under the oysters was dyed bright blue.....??? C’mon! Someone needs to revamp this place and remake/update the menu. It’s a shame because the location is beautiful
consistently good food and drinks, friendly employees
After considerable wait we were seated upstairs where the only view was the lower floor. Might as well have been in a shopping mall. The tables were waiting so no idea why were we not seated earlier. The room was so dark I had to use my phone light to read the menu, and the waiter was unmoved by that. Then we had to wait for a looooong time for our wine, somebody apparently did not get the order right. Then we were fed extremely fat calamari which we polished up as we got very hungry from all the waiting. The waiter was trying very hard to make a conversation and be overly friendly. The main course was quite tasty and, fortunately, small size, but nothing remarkable. The best part was the wine.
We see no reason to be coming back: no view, long wait for no reason, food just OK, service missing the point most of the time. We see nothing to recommend, either.
I’ve been to the Charthouse many times before, so it was my pick to celebrate my 40th birthday. We had a 6pm reservation and requested a table by the window.
When we checked in at 5:50p, we again requested a table by the window. We were told it would be an additional 20 minutes, so we agreed to wait. At 6:30, we were finally seated, but it was NOT a table by the window. After a few minutes, our frantic server swung by the table to take our drink and appetizer order. We had also brought a nice bottle of wine which we requested to be opened. 30 minutes went by, while we sat at the table. No water, no bread, no wine opened, no bar drinks, no apps and no server. So I got up and looked for a manager, whom I found polishing glasses. I asked him if he could help our table since we had now been there an hour. He was not terribly friendly, but did follow me back to our table to open the wine. As he was pulling out the cork, our server resurfaced and told the manager that he was opening the wine for the wrong table. The wine WE had brought to the restaurant. The service this night was among the worst I’ve ever had, anywhere. The food was very good with the exception of the spinach salad. But overall a very disappointing night on what should have been an important celebration.
The Chart House in Cardiff is a fine dining restaurant located in a beautiful spot by the beach, and our window table was perfect spot to celebrate our Anniversary. The staff was friendly,
professional. The lunch menu offered good choices, the Salmon on a cedar plank was delicious. We felt the service was efficient but not rushed. We will return again, maybe for diner next visit.
Fantastic weekend lunch. Reasonable prices, excellent dishes.
Exceptional seafood restaurant with very good service and excellent food. I had grilled swordfish that was cooked to perfection while my wife had the coconut crusted shrimp which was scrumptious. The ambiance in the restaurant was beautiful with spectacular views of the ocean making the dining experience special .
Love the view. Guests from inland cities love to see the waves
