Chart House Restaurant - Boston

Very disappointed. Been to many Chart Houses over the years, even this one. Poke and Caesar salad were ordinary at best. Lobster was fine. Although we were celebrating and in no hurry the service was extreme slow, even though the restaurant was only moderately busy. It took almost 20 minutes to get a martini, which arrived warm. The serve never asked or even suggested a second drink or glass of wine with dinner. Taking this one off the team. Just an ordinary, ok place, nothing special anymore.
Great restaurant, great food and great service!
Had an absolutely horrendous experience. Waiting over an hour for our reservation, finally settled for 5 people around a table for 4. Everything was behind and delivered late.
I have been to several Chart Houses throughout the country and this this one was not to the same standards as the others. The place was messy and stuffy, no air circulation. Our waiter Joseph was very knowledgeable and attentive, he made up for the lack of ambiance.
We had a great experience
This restaurant needs to decide if it is a higher end dining experience or a “schlock house” (which is what we were referring to it by the end of the night) The food was great but the overall experience was absolutely horrible. Would never recommend this place
Staff was totally overwhelmed by crush of graduation celebration diners. Had reservation but still had to wait 30 minutes to be seated. And it took all of that time just to get a drink from the bar. The food was cold and tasteless. Clam chowder was watery instead of thick and creamy. Ahi tuna was inedible due to being saturated with a cream sauce. The manager kindly took it of our bill. Best thing about the meal was a side dish of Asian green beans. Place was very dark on a bright sunny day. No views at all. Been to many other Chart House locations and had a good experience, so this was a rare disappointment for the brand.
Poor service waiter never came back for additional drink orders and water. One drink was served in chipped glass. Tried to sell us restaurant package and was very pushy. Quickly walked away when we declined
Been to other chart houses and had wonderful experiences, but this one definitely was not worth the time, effort, or money. Waiter had no idea what a martini was, and referred to the boston cream pie as "a table talk pie." For the prices they charge, I hope not. We did enjoy the prime rib. Menu was limited, at best. Recommend if you are in Boston, go elsewhere.
First, I do not believe the food was actually cooked on scene. I felt as if we were at a wedding reception. Our appetizer was fine, but the caprese salad was not fresh. Our main dishes felt as if they had been produced off site, and shipped in, not what we expected. The atmosphere was ok, but the restrooms were atrocious. I would not recommend this establishment to anyone, and would be hard pressed to return
Great tasting food. Great service. Historic atmosphere right on the water. Overall fun experience.
Seafood and steak lovers heaven. Service is top notch and in just the right amounts. Anniversary dinner for 2 - highly recommend swordfish or salmon. Cocoanut shrimp served in a rice/ shell fan was also a hit. Ambiance was warm -soft music played. wood planks-good use of the brick inside of this historic building.
First time in Boston. We celebrated my parents 50th wedding anniversary here. I told the restaurant ahead of time and they personalized the menus for us and left a nice card. Our waiter was top notch. The tables are quite close together so that might bother some people. The food was really good and I thought the portion size was perfect although some people might like larger meals. I would recommend this restaurant.
Enjoyed a solo lunch at my favorite restaurant. Warmly greeted by Joseph the waiter. Had the french dip sandwich which was very tasty. I also enjoyed the raspberry sorbet for dessert which I loved. Such a nice place to stop in whenever I'm in that part of Boston. looking forward to returning for my birthday next month!!
The food was excellent. Our server was personable and very efficient. We look forward to going back there again.
Great service. Great food. It is huge so it was easy to reserve a table even for Mother's Day.
Just had an amazing Mother’s Day dinner. Prime rib, halibut, and swordfish were great. Service wonderful! Will definitely be back again.
The food was great as always but the service wasn’t all that great. They forgot the steak knives til the end & there wasn’t anyone to grab and ask. They also never came back to check if we needed another drink & lastly they tried selling us some kind of rewards card! We were in & out in less than an hour. A pretty disappointing Mother’s Day dinner.
Messed up on staple dessert on Mother's Day of all days. No excuse, very few days in the year you need to be spot on and can actually plan for it. Never happened.
Mother’s Day brunch. Customer service excellent from the valet to the hostess stand to the server.
Unfortunately the building is so old there is no handicapped access to the best view seating on the second floor. Mom is in a wheelchair so we sat in the bar area which is dark with little view. However the service and the food were outstanding.
We go every year for Mother’s Day brunch. They remembered before I did that some in our party have knee issues & reminded me to request a first floor table. Great service, Milan was a terrific help & friendly waiter! There’s a reason we go back every year !
My family was in town for Mother’s Day weekend. We chose Chart House for dinner on Saturday, and it was an infuriating experience.
Our reservation was for 7:00 PM. We weren’t seated until 7:52, and until then we were waiting outside in the cold. Drinks arrived around 8:45. They took forever because the bar was apparently flooded and the waiter had no idea. Communication appears to be a problem. We were finally able to order entrees at 8:50. The waiter seemed apologetic but did nothing concrete to fix the situation. Our food arrived close to 9:40. The food was a bright spot and was delicious, but was not worth the aggravation nor the price.
the restrooms were dirty and no paper towels or toilet paper
We love this restaurant and never have a problem. This Saturday they were a little short handed and we had to wait longer than usual but the food was great as were the drinks.
The food and service was very good. Some of the oysters were much too small.
Overall the meal lacked flavor. There was four of us celebrating a birthday. The hostess and server were wonderful. Mussels were flavorless. The salad over dressed. Crab cakes were terrible. Chocolate lava cake delicious. We all left disappointed. The guy parking cars in the valet lot is scary.
The Lunch menu is very complete and reasonable. We had the fish and chips, prime rib sandwich and caparise entree. Salad. The waitress was wonderful. We would have given the restaurant 5 stars across, but the Hostess, was acting like we were a disturbance rather than a customer.
Great food. Server was very nice and helpful. Wonderful menu. Will return if ever in Boston again!
We thoroughly enjoyed the food and the value was excellent! Even the presentation was suburb! I have two negative comment; we had noted in our Open Table reservation that we were celebrating our 42 wedding anniversary and no one acknowledged that. Also, we were never served bread (other tables were).
I was pleasantly surprised at my first dining experience at the Chart House. Knowing that it’s a chain restaurant, I expected routine decor and layout. I walked into a multi-level atmosphere that fit several purposes. The downstairs felt like a fisherman’s tavern, open dining space on the second floor, and intimate tables with benches on the top floor. The appetizers were a great introduction whose offerings differed greatly from the main course offerings with made the entire food offering well-rounded and dynamic. The entrees were very bold and flavorful. The only downside I found was the shock at the realization of calories that were listed next to the offerings on the menu. Finding a low calorie option is very difficult.
Overall the food and atmosphere exceeded expectations. I will certainly return but probably on a day where I have a calorie intensive workout!
Excellent location . Excellent food . Attentive staff
Service was slow. I had never been chased by a waiter demanding a higher tip.
Food very good, waiter friendly a little pricey. Xxxxxx
Food and drinks were perfect. Service was spot on! Will return.
The Chart House Boston is not only a hidden gem , it’s an historical experience, an outstanding location and quite possibly one of the best bargains left in the city for great food at a fair price . Manager and waitstaff are actually friendly and helpful . A lovely experience for a graduation celebration that is truly Bostonian !!!
First time at this Chart House. It is very nice. Carpet looks old and dated but otherwise very quaint. Great clam chowder. Has the poke bowl which was excellent. Can’t wait to go again and sit outside
Food was okay- salmon was good but steak was very well done (asked for medium) and not that great. Service poor- waited long time for everything and didn’t receive appetizer that we ordered. Nice atmosphere but probably won’t return.
Mojito flight is so good and a fun experience. The prime rib was the best I have had! Friends all enjoyed there dinners as well!
Il mio ristorante preferito a Boston. Splendida location sul porto, cibo eccellente e non banale, servizio cortese e puntuale. L’aragosta, ovviamente, è ottima così come i gamberi al cocco. Buono anche il Kids menu
