Appetizers we're good. Mahi Mahi was dry and tasted like frozen. King crab claws should have been cut with scissors like othe restaurant s do.
I have dined at the Chart House frequently in the past as a couple and with larger groups. Sadly, it seems the service is no longer as good as it used to be. Also, I feel the menu is too limited.
I am disgusted with the customer service at the Chart House. I made a reservation for a special occasion one week in advance for two people on Saturday at 7:15 PM. I received a confirmation phone call the morning ahead of our reservation. We arrived at 7:00 PM and we were told that we would be seated closer to our actual reservation. We told the hostess we would be seated at or around the bar area. We waited until 7:45 PM and approached the hostess stand; the management team had told us that they had "called our name but one one showed up," indicating that we had "missed our reservation." Meanwhile, we had been seated at the bar the entire team waiting to be seated. The management team told us that they were going to "get a table ready for us," but by 8:00 PM we were told that we would still have to wait. The management team made an error and skipped over us in line and then could not accommodate for their own error. In stead, we were made to feel like we had "missed our reservation!" I am still speechless and disgusted with the absolute lack of customer service. I had made a reservation a week in advance and received a confirmation that same day. We had made plans to spend a night out at their establishment and the management team did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to rectify their clear error in planning. Provided the lack of customer service and terrible accommodations we chose to dine some place else.
If you are looking for a classy dining experience and professional, customer-centered service, DO NOT dine at the Chart House. I will no longer dine here or refer/friends and family to dine here. This was my favorite spot in Boston and now they have lost a customer for life.
Dinner was great! The did was delicious. Dessert, the chocolate ' lava' cake was disappointing. The last time we had it (years ago) it was significantly better. This time there was no molten center, and the cake was completely different. The almonds were a much better accompaniment than the heath bar. I will dine there again, but will not order the dessert.
Great menu options. I recommend the King Salmon. Everything else looked delicious.
Horrible 40 minute wait short staff manger lied
Manger lied to us very bad with customers
Been going to CH for over 20 years will never go back Was told 18 minute wait that turned into
40 funny then manger blamed us because said we didn't hear him same guy that told ho into the bar and wait
This is our second time at Boston's Chart House, and we again found the food very good. The service was fine. Our only "complaint" is that the waitstaff is expected to try and push membership in a dining club -- Landry's -- and they are enthusiastic about doing that. Our dinner waiter was more subtle than the brunch waitress on our last visit, and he at least waited until near the end of our stay, but he seemed somewhat miffed when we waved him off the discussion, ensuring us that he doesn't personally benefit from any membership chosen. I wish that the restaurant would realize that pushing a membership is annoying; it can be mentioned as an option, but we feel that the waitstaff is encouraged to be aggressive and that just puts us off.
Great variety with the menu. Food was great. Our server Edmund, made the experience unforgettable.
The Chart House has been a favorite of ours for over 30 years. We always feel that we are treated very well, the food is always great, and the service is very good. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
The food and service were both fantastic. We came on Valentine's Day and will absolutely be returning in the very near future.
I highly recommend starting with the oysters, and taking a look at the impressive wine list.
I THOROUGHLY enjoyed the Prime Rib, Captain's Cut as my entree. It was one of the best steaks I've had in Boston.
My wife and I had our first date at The Chart House in 1974, at that time it was the hot spot in Boston. We've been married 42 years and being the sensitive and romantic kind of guy that I am, I suggested we revisit for Valentine's Day. Upon arrival all the women were presented with a beautiful long stemmed Red rose. We were immediately seated at a table for two with a Harbor view. The restaurant was busy but not noisy. Our waiter, Joseph, was extremely knowledgeable about the historic building, the waterfront, the menu items and the wine. He was attentive but not overly so. Joseph made no attempt to steer us to the more expensive items on the menu which is typical of many of today's waitstaff. As an appetizer we ordered calamari and split a wonderful spinach salad. For entrees, my wife ordered coconut shrimp. There were 8-10 perfectly cooked and tasty shrimp beautifully presented in a pastry shell over a bed of delicious rice. We enjoyed her leftovers for lunch the following day. I ordered lobster stuffed schrod served with mashed potatoes. Due to the calamari appetizer and salad, I too was unable to finish. The calamari with julienne'd red peppers was prepared with an Asian sauce, unusual for New England where we are typically served calamari with peppers and marinara, aioli or tartar sauce. To say we enjoyed it is an understatement. The portions of the salad, appetizers and entrees were generous and unfortunately we should have skipped the appetizer.
The Chart House, with its antique ship beams and wrought iron pulleys that keeps this historic waterfront "gem" structurally intact was a perfect venue for a Valentine's Day dinner. I don't know why we hadn't returned to The Chart House in 45 years but it was clearly our mistake. Our waiter Joseph enhanced our dining experience. Dinner was not inexpensive but when the free valet parking is taken into consideration it compares very favorably to the other restaurants along the waterfront.
Wonderful time and a great meal made it a special Valentines Day! Our server was great and the restaurant honored a special request as to our seating!
Absolutely perfect dinning experience from start the finish. I had booked this reservation for vday and we were both left so satisfied. I was a little nervous given some restaurants in the area rely on their name and location but still serve subpar cuisine, not Chart House. The hostess and servers carried themselves so professionally it was easy to enjoy the ambiance inside. We had the calamari appetizer, followed by some delicious steaks, a few well crafted drinks and a decadent chocolate desert. Definitely surpassed our expectations and we would highly recommend. Gracias chart house.
Server was overbearing.
I come here for almost every birthday and anniversary. It never disappoints. The staff is attentive and friendly, and the food is always delicious. One of my favorite spots in Boston. Can't wait to come back!
For my appetizer I had the New England clam chowder. The chowder was a little watery and I believe it could have been a little thicker, but the flavor was there. There were plenty of clams in it. My sister had the crab cake, she said it was too mushy on the outside. For dinner I had the scod stuffed with lobster. That was absolutely delicious and they gave you a good portion of the lobster and scrod. My sister had the sweet an spicy swordfish, she said that it had an amazing flavor and that the after taste had a great kick to it.. For dessert we had the lava cake. Beware you must order it 30 minutes ahead of time. We were not aware of this until we saw the dessert menu. We were not willing to wait, but the server told us it wouldn't take that long. Unfortunately she lied and it did take about 30 minutes. It was not worth the wait. It could of been a little bigger for the amount of ice cream given and had a little more flavor to it. I felt like the chocolate was bland. The atmosphere was lovely. The drinks were overpriced for the size of the glass, but the presentation of the drinks were great.
The entire experience was amazing. Eating a fine meal in one of the most historic buildings in Boston was very memorable. Will dine there again in a heartbeat!
My wife and I celebrated an early Valentine's day evening at the Chart House. Our table was ready when we arrived and we were immediately seated. We enjoyed our cocktails without any pressure to order. When we did place our food orders the food came out hot and at the correct time interval between the appetizers and main course. Our waitress was the BEST!
As an added bonus we were entertained by a waiter who sang Happy Birthday to another customer. This waiter had a FANTASTIC voice and performed another song for the tables.
Our food was superior and very very tasty!! I would recommend the Chart House to any and everyone!
I had been to the location in Longboat Key several times with exceptional service and food. We received a gift card for Christmas and decided to use it at the Boston location. The drinks were good and reasonably priced but the food was so overpriced for what we had. Boxed rice and fish that tasted as if it had been sitting under a heat lamp too long. I could get the same at a low cost chain. Our server was pleasant- when she actually did come to our table to check on us. Also, I understand that you are part of a larger restaurant group but it is sooo tacky to have the server bring over a lamented restaurant membership advertisement along with the bill. The ambiance was lovely but there are so many restaurants in Boston with amazing food that is worth the high prices. I wish I could say it was up there with its sister restaurant in Florida, but sadly I can’t and we won’t be back.
Excellent all around!!
Chart house is a great environment and the service is awesome. Excellent oysters, however, for the price of an entree there was really no wow factor. I probably could have received something similar and tastier at legal seafood.
Absolutely fantastic, our server was amazing, only criticism is managers were wandering around looking busy, while chefs delivered food, it was very quiet (mon pm) and managers could have stepped up or even had a chat with each table.
We enjoyed the entire experience and would definitely go back while in Boston in the future.
Our second visit to Chart House when we come to see our daughter in Boston. Great place to dine and converse without any adverse noise. Ambiance is great. Best part of this visit was our server Dee...very friendly accommodating and pleasant...a true credit to our experience
Haven’t been to Chart House in many years and really enjoyed going back! My husband and I went for lunch. We each had cup of clam chowder which was delicious and we split the cod sandwich with great fries! Bright sunny dining room upstairs was great on a cold winter day
The staff are great, food always consistent and we love our favorite server Joe. So knowledgeable with the menu and wine lists
Great service and wonderful view. Was pleasantly surprised at the generosity of portions for such a high-end place.
Very special night on my 51st year anniversary. What I like the best was the secluded seating and the excellent service and food. Discounted for anniversary. Alaska king crab was a good amount and perfectly cooked.
Great food and great place. Beautiful old historic building and the noise as not loud. Our server was fantastic and the food is pricey but worth it as it is delicious.
Love the ambiance. Have never had anything but a great dining experience at The Chart House.
Excellent service, food and atmosphere. Though it’s on the water, it’s a perfect & charming winter dining option.
Was in Boston for a meeting. Delicious food, drink. Great service
