Chart House Restaurant - Boston Ratings and Reviews
Made late night "cocktails and dessert" reservation for NYE. Front of house was very accommodating to get us the table we wanted. The upstairs is much less intimate than the downstairs cocktail lounge. Historic building with deep roots to the Boston Heritage. Located on the Boston Harbor, steps from the NYE midnight fireworks. Would book again!
I came to the Chart house to celebrate my New Year Eve birthday. I easily made a reservation the day before and had no issue getting in. The food was amazing, service was great, the entire experience was just perfect. They made an extra step in having the menu say Happy Birthday and letting me keep the menu, a signed Birthday Card and well as a birthday dessert. I will be coming back. This was defiantly the highlight to my birthday. And most of all the food was delicious and reasonably priced. I was impressed! Great job to everyone that made my night special.
We were disappointed at the waitress’s confusion over simple questions. Also, for the quality of the meal, it was way over priced. I think the Chart House’s best days are behind it. Our locally owned suburban restaurant would have been a better choice at a fraction of the cost.
A dining visit this past April was terrific for us and our 11 year old grandson. Service was prompt and friendly. Server was courteous and asked if we had any questions. It was so enjoyable.
Saturday Dec, 30 we had a reservation for just us two of 32 years together. Everything was great except for the waiter. No personality, not much professionalism. Your restaurant should have better then this guy. Plotting our dishes down in front of us ruined my experience of your historic waterfront dining. One would expect something better and more personalized then what we got.
Our party included two elderly persons and one not-so-elderly person. We were seated in a drafty area and were cold throughout our meal. The food was tasty but mine was not hot enough. We have been here before and this recent experience did not measure up to previous times.
visited here for our last night away in Boston, it didn't disappoint. Set in an old warehouse in the wharf area, lots of brick and wood on display. Lead upstairs into the dining area and sat in a corner with a few other tables. The server (Ed) was nice guy sorted out some water and took our order, asked my wife about preordering the chocolate pudding as it took 30mins to prepare. It was like asking if the pope was catholic, whether my wife would like a hot chocolate dessert! we shared a mediterranean humous platter to start and I had the paneed chicken which was very nice! My wife had the Lobster stuffed scrod, which she loved. We had a side of asian beans which were pretty good also, but the chocolate pudding was the icing on the cake! I haven't seen a smile on my wife's face like that for as long as i can remember! So thanks to the chart house for making my wife happy and for the whole meal to not break the bank either...
We had Christmas Eve dinner at the Chart House. It was perfect in every respect from the food to the service. This was our first experience with Chart House and it won't be our last. Many thanks for a memorable Christmas Eve dinner. We were blown away with the choices of wines and the iPad way of reviewing what was on offer.
Had a reservation for several weeks, when we arrived we were told there were many large parties and the only table available was down stairs by the entrance. I asked to be seated upstairs in the main dining area and was told it would be another 30 minutes. Not happy!
We had a reservation and our table was ready about 5 minutes after our arrival. Our waitress was courteous. We are from Atlanta and we were celebrating my birthday. We also pointed out when we booked. One of us chose Coconut Crunchy Shrimp. It is a spectacular dish but has too much rice or noodles to fill the plate and if you like veggies, you have to order them as a side. The other two guests took the Lemon Herb Crusted Salmon and roasted fingerling potatoes, with white mustard ground stone. Everything was cooked to perfection but we had to order asparagus to complete the dish. For dessert, we shared an apple crumble which was delicious. It was good, but we did not say "wow" for any of the dishes.
We had been going to the Chart House for years but this evening was VERY Disappointing. It was a Birthday dinner which our server never mentioned. They were suppose to have a small slice of cake and a personalized menu to remember the "SPECIAL EVENING". Our server was pleasant enough but didn't listen enough and her English was very difficult to understand. I am not sure if she was new, but our feeling was that she was in a hurry to get out early. The servers skill level did set the tone for an uneventful night. The highlight of the evening was free valet parking. Needless to say, we won't be returning to the Chart House anytime soon.
Soup temp was not hot enough. Food was generally very good to excellent otherwise. Service was excellent. We received a special dessert to recognize our occasion. Ambiance was great in the historical building.
Pace of food delivery was too quick at beginning and we started to feel rushed as the main course was served before we finished our appetizer. The server noticed it and put things back on track.
Over the top service - they made us feel personally, specially cared for all evening; with two children at the table, we can often be made to feel like an nuisance in a nice restaurant. Not at the Chart House! Thank you for truly lovely evening for my whole family.
Overall a great place for a meal, the ambiance and location is awesome for downtown Boston. The highlights of the Chart House are it's seafood, stay away from anything with legs (except the wine!). Great place for a business meal or a date.
It's a shame this is part of the Landry's chain, it could be truly outstanding. The sales pitch to join the Landry's club at the end of the meal puts a downer on the occasion.
