Had a wonderful dinner, celebrating a birthday in the family. Everybody loved their meals, the ambiance and location of The Chart House is great.
Nice location but food was bland and very overpriced. Applebees level fare. Very disappointing.
We ate outside, which was nice. But, the service was sub-par. Appetizers left on the table far too long and our entree’s were served before they cleaned up. Other than that, it was a nice dinner.
Just the type of dining one would desire and expect on the Boston Harborfront - fresh, local seafood in an historic atmosphere.
Chart House had a good atmosphere and we had a good time, but the food was overpriced for the quality, and service was slow at first despite the restaurant not being terribly busy.
Our grandson beginning high school.
Loved the Chart House! Service was great! Food was outstanding!! Clam chowder was to die for! You will not make a mistake by coming here!! Valet parking also, very convenient!! Thank you Chart House for a great dinner!!
Crammed in on the 3rd floor. Staff overwhelmed. Loud, loud, loud! Our personal space invaded! Hostess was unfriendly. Will never go back.
First course - chowder and lobster bisque. They don’t brag that they’re the best in Boston, but we think they are! Fresh lobster, of course. I suggest ordering your beef less cooked than you might normally, as they tend to do it on the more cooked end of the spectrum. Overall, a great meal with great service and ambiance.
Always a good time
A few colleagues and I went for National Hamburger Month - 1/2 Off Burgers!
That burger was one of the best burgers I've ever had. It had the right amount of thickness, it was so juicy, and seasoned perfectly. And those fries? Delicious.
I love the atmosphere with the exposed wood and brick. And the location on the water is perfect for al fresco dining.
I highly recommend it. And I'll definitely go back.
Fabulous food - always consistent. Innovative desserts such as the Creme Brûlée sample trio - the expression creme brûlée phenomenal
Always a great drink selection too
Third floor seating difficult time for older folks
Excellent food and service! Thank yoy
We were late in being seated, however, the manager apologized and provided excellent appetizers on the house. The meal was superb as was the wait staff.
Anniversary and birthday
WE WERE A PARTY OF SEVEN FOR LUNCH AFTER MY DAUGHTERS COLLEGE GRADUATION.
EVERYTHING WAS EXCELLANT- =BAR WAS GREAT- STAFF WAS AWESOME- NO PRESSURE TO RUSH - FOOD WAS FANTASTIC
I’ve been to several Chart House locations and never had any issues. However, tonight our service was terrible.
Two large parties near us were complaining about their food and service as well.
While the food was very good our server was nowhere to be seen. No interaction at all.
Only bright spot of the evening was the bartender Giselle.
Very friendly and the best cocktail I’ve had since moving to Boston a year ago.
Food was fantastic, just took very long to prepare; even the oysters (app) took forever.
Fabulous evening. Adam was a great waiter. The lobster perfectly cooked and presented, and the shrimp cocktail presentation was amazing. We always come here when we are in Boston.
Server didn't share specials before we ordered. Why, we don't know.
Restaurant staff wedged us between 3 very loud tables of. drunks even though there were many open tables all over the restaurant. Rather obnoxious.
We were seated so close to table next to us that the waiters butt serving next to us was against my wife's shoulder when ordering and serving. Gross, waiter was oblivious, we physically moved our table and chairs on foot away from butt head.
Asked for a different table but waitress stared at us as if she were offended.
Thank goodness the food good.
Can't explain the raunchy place , quite disturbing.
Fantastic. Loved it. Staff were excellent and food was incredible, highly recommended.
Great dinner , just a little to darken the room , but food was delicious and wait staff very attentive!
We came here for our birthday and anniversary celebration and we received excellent service. We ordered an avocado/mango stack and a bowl of mussels, and they were both amazingly delicious. Our entrees (steak, and a fish dish) were really good but compared to the appetizers, weren't as excellent. We were so full we decided not to order dessert, but to our surprise our waiter brought us a very large slice of the coffee ice cream cake for free to wish us a happy birthday and anniversary -- it was very sweet! (pun intended) Overall great experience.
The location is what keeps this restaurant in business - ask to sit outside, specifically at the front (there is a back patio I really don't understand why they seat people in, basically looks at a parking lot). I would return again for mid-day drinks for the pretty view and ambiance of Longwharf. However, I would not order any food again. We had the clam chowder (mostly cream, didn't actually taste clams), shrimp scampi (no flavor) and lobster-stuffed scrod (mostly breadcrumbs in the stuffing and scrod tasted frozen).
While we had a great meal, we were disappointed. The restaurant booked a business function on the second level. The function had business speeches using a loud microphone. Not really what we had in mind for our anniversary dinner.
Food was excellent. Server was ok. He seemed a little disinterested in us and we had to wait for a while before being able to order a second beverage (halfway through dinner). Overall a good experience. I would return.
Made a reservation on open table and when we arrived they gave us a pager and we waited 45mins to get seated. Understand it was at 7:45 on a Saturday, but then don’t take reservations. Waiter was great and food was good, just a very poor up front experience.
Horrible experience. Sent my steak back three times as it was raw each time ... left hungry. Never again.
Great food, tables are a bit close together on the higher floors. And I don’t like heights.. and we were put on the higher level.. I think they should ask before seating people on the higher floors and not assume!
Sat at the bar before dinner, waited a long time for drinks and they weren’t friendly, the bartenders were thoroughly overwhelmed!
This is the second time I have been to the Chart House in Boston and I was not disappointed. It's by far my favorite place to eat in the North End and I will always make it a point to have dinner there when I fly in! Thank you for the wonderful evening and the delicious food. :-)
From beginning to end our experience was exceptional. Fantastic bar staff , wait staff and the food was excellent.
We were seated immediately with our reservation, and greeted promptly by our server Janet
The suggestions of possible menu selections and attentiveness of the service throughout our visit were outstanding. The food was excellent and served in a very timely fashion.
This was a great dining experience and we will return
Food was very good and prepared and presented very nicely. Server staff was terrible.
The Chart House has been our go to place for special Birthdays! They customize the menu with the name of the Birthday celebrant and do a great job making the experience feel personal and intimate.
This historic Boston landmark (former warehouse/office of John Hancock) provides great authentic New England fare in a charming colonial American setting.
Excellent seafood, wine list, etc. Don’t pass up the chocolate lava dessert👍
Made reservation thru Open Table. Arrived early but still waited about 60 minutes for table. Staff was very polite and accommodating, but still had to wait even though we made the reservation. Not sure of the benefit of using the app.
We had a very tasty meal. The humus appetizer with plantain chips was very good. My wife had the prime rib and I had the mahi, mahi. Both were well prepared and good portions. I liked that they split the salad we shared for an appetizer. Only concern was that the Caesar salad had too much dressing. Service was efficient and server was pleasant.
Fun time, not the place for recent graduates dining on a budget but lots of families.
Terrible food, a very institutional prime rib, disgraceful over cooked previously frozen Parmesan encrusted snapper with cold crab meat on top (frozen?) Even the cantaloupe in the burratta appetizer was rock hard underripe. Service was slow from kitchen to table, wait staff too young unable to discuss menu. Overall rating - never again.
