Very good service with extremely good food
Me and my family have always been big fans of The Chart House Restaurant. The food is always outstanding. Great service and atmosphere.
Great place. Our waiter Gene was excellent. He made great recommendations and I was very happy with my lobster stuffed scrod. He went out of his way to see if his bartender could make a jalapeño margarita which wasn’t on the menu. Not only did the bartender make the best one I ever had, he wanted to make sure I was happy with it. The steak was cooked perfectly and the coconut shrimp presentation was one of the best plates I’ve seen. The crab shrimp avocado tower was the freshest and most delicious one I’ve had. To end the night we ordered the Godiva lava cake with homemade ice cream. Great place, great service, great food. You won’t be disappointed.
The food was cooked perfectly and tasted AMAZING. Our waitet was attentive.
We are going to chart House restaurants all over the country We always look for them because they are always great food! This time the menu choices were underwhelming and my food was the mac nut mahi It was good but definitely not great! I've had much better!
We loved the food, service and surroundings. What a unique space! Perfect for a small group get together, birthday celebration or romantic dinner. The location on the waterfront was also special.
Doesn’t live up to its reputation. Dark old building. Service was ok. Great crab cakes. Beef isn’t as good as many other Boston steak houses.
We were there an hour before we were asked what we wanted to order for main course. Raw Oysters took 30 minutes. We were there 1 hour and 15 mins and only got 2 rounds of beers and the 6 oysters in that time. Not the individual server’s fault...the other servers left her high and dry. Clearly way understaffed and found out that some servers just decided on to show up for their shift. Regardless, we won’t be back. Left hungry and disappointed.
Nicole is responsible for us getting great service. There was a problem until she took over.
The food and the service were spot on. Problem is the restaurant is totally in need of a face lift and renovation. The carpet is worn and dirty. The place is dark and dingy.
With so many other great restaurants in the area, why put up with this?
The prime rib was even better than Lawrys Prime Rib. The lobster bisque was also excellent!! The lava cake dessert with toffee heath topping was also delicious!! Will definitely return to eat here next time we are in Boston!!
Menu was very limited, taste average and service disappointing ( ordered the wrong appetizers, replaced for free but service was slow(
Food was excellent. We enjoyed the prime rib, lobster bisque, chopped salad and oysters. The chocolate lava cake was the best we have ever had. Service was ok nothing special.
Three of us had a wonderful dinner on SATURDAY night. Igor provides exceptional service. We loved our meals 2 filets and a baked stuff schrod. It was the 1st visit for one friend and he was a big fan. I loved the Raspberry sorbet and my friend devoured his mud pie. Great to see the restaurant busy yet keeping us safe with seating kept 6 feet apart. Thank you so much! Can’t wait to come back.
Great ambiance, the service was excellent, building is historical. Food portion size is great. Pricey restaurant but good for special occasions.
Great food and beautiful place. Wish I lived closer. Waitress was very pleasant.
Chart House is great, has been a go-to for many years.
Very nice, intimate Birthday dinner with my significant other. Exceptional customer service and tasty food, in a historic setting (John Hancock’s old accounting office building) overlooking the famous Boston Harbor.
Been going to Chart House for many years, the food & service is excellent. The atmosphere & ambiance is great. I would recommend it.
The food is incredible and the portions are more than enough. I always end up bring some food home.
The absence of service set the tone for the evening. We waited for 25 minutes for someone to notice that we were sitting there....no one did; and they weren't busy.
Finally we got a waiters attention and asked if he could find out who our waiter was, he came back and said he would be our waiter. Food was ok.
We had a great date night at Chart House. Our server Giselle was very friendly, knowledgable, and attentive. We started with oysters, I got the seared tuna for dinner and my boyfriend got the lobster stuffed scrod. Everything was delicious, especially the tuna. We finished with the key lime pie and New York cheesecake- so good! The slices were huge and we probably could have shared just one, but we were glad we tried both. Thanks for a great evening!
I want to preface this by saying it wasn’t my pick for a place for lunch. With that said, the service was good. It the food bland. Not a top pick for a return
Service was slow but very knowledgeable. The food was great!
Really nice dinner spot—make sure to utilize their parking lot if you’re driving. Super friendly and knowledgeable staff, excellent seafood and draft beers as well. Very honest staff as I left my bag there for an hour or two before I realized and they set it aside untouched. We’ll definitely be back.
Everything was perfect!!!
Food was great. Service was friendly. My only complaint would be the restrooms. Not clean by any stretch of the imagination. I’ve been to gas stations that were more sanitary.
Every time we go to The Chart House the food and service is very good to excellent. This past visit the service was very slow and food fair at best. Maybe it was a staffing problem and new inexperienced servers. Will not stop me from going there again,
From start to finish it was awful. Made reservations and got there about 15 minutes early. The hostess was clearly stressed and asked us to wait. When she finally came back she asked if we wanted inside or out & we said inside. She said it would be closer to our reservation time. Which was fine so we waited. 20 minutes later she came to get us and brought us outside. I was a bit confused but asked her if she considered that part of the restaurant inside as it was under a tent attached and she said I thought you said either. We said no, my husband specifically said inside as he really liked the decor which by the way is the only redeeming quality. She looked at us and said oh & brought us to an inside table that has been open since we got there. Oh ok. It’s a mistake no big deal. So we sit and order drinks and an app as well as our meals. In the meantime a large party of 6 sat behind us. 45 minutes later all we had were drinks. Mind you my app was oysters on the half shell-no cooking involved. The party of 6 received their meals before we even got my oysters. We had to ask twice before they finally came. The waitress said oh sorry I put your meal in so it should be up soon. Fast forward another half hour and nothing. It was now 915 and that was all we could take. We never got our dinner and the staff was not accommodating at all. We paid our bill for drinks & oysters and the waitress boasted how they took our dinners off the bill. Well yeah, we never got them so why should we pay. It was an awful experience capped off by a major headache from not eating. An expensive headache!
We made a reservation at the Chart House for our engagement. They were incredibly helpful and accommodating with our reservation and the service was unbelievable- result above and beyond. We will absolutely be making the Chart House our designated home base when looking for a wonderful meal in downtown Boston
Waitress didn't seem to want to work.
She was missing for most of our meal.
Dined outside more than 6’ from the closest table. Server was knowledgeable and friendly. Spiced ahi tuna was excellent. High top table with sturdy, swivel chairs. Very comfortable. Perfect evening!
The food was flawless. The cocktails were tasty. The service was great. Highly recommend for any special occasion. A lot of menu options to suit varied tastes as well. 5/5 for me.
Wonderful service, great social distance from other tables and delicious food
Took 40 minutes to some one approach us for the drink, no one came before that to even say hi. We place the drink and food order still took 25 minutesto bring the drinks and another 15 minutes to bring our appetizer; when we were stubbing. Basically one hour and a half to bring the appetizer when we seat on the table at 9:05 pm. And she keep removing her mask when she talked we saw her lips moving when she talk. That’s not the law. We have to wear the mask at all the time
Waitress was great, very friendly. Food was amazing
The best prime rib is at the Chart House. We ate there for Dine-Out Boston, and got their regular 10-ounce cut for a great discount, including their clam chowder appetizer, and lava cake for dessert. The outside terrace was very pleasant, off of the Boston Harbor. The service was great and the waitress very friendly. We definitely will go back there and highly recommend the Chart House.
Went with husband for our 1yr anniversary last night and it did not live up to our expectations unfortunately. From start to finish our experience was overall poor. Our waiter was off putting, I don’t think he even told us his name. The chowder was incredibly salty and the lobster stuffed scrod, for all the hype in previous reviews, was horrible, it was poorly presented and salty as well.
I gave Chart House 2 stars because of the location, atmosphere and the valet guy was really great!
Overall, I wish we would have chosen another restaurant to celebrate.
The waitstaff was very attentive and always kept the water refilled. THe salmon dish had mashed potatoes but the plate seemed a bit empty and could have used another colorful vegetable to fill out the plate. Other dishes Ser fed appeared to have a more complete plate as far as amount of food
Server wasn't attentive and being professional. Food was good
