What a magnificent place! A wonderful restaurant, all the right food, all the right wine, stunning crab cakes to start and a gorgeous Lobster main. All washed down with perfect service. Couldn't recommend a place higher and when next in town, Ill be back!
Terrible experience for my mom’s birthday, hair inside the food, the cocktails didn’t have alcohol, We bring the ice cake for the special occasion and it was a milk shake, the coffee machine didn’t work so no espresso! and when we arrived the hostess did know about the reservation
The service was underwhelming. The food and atmosphere were above average.
Our server was very polite but the service itself was extremely slow. My meal was Luke warm and the asparagus was drowned in butter. We have been there many times and we are asked if we want the molten lava cake for dessert. It needs to go in the oven when your dinner is ordered. We were not asked. We will not be rushing back any time soon.
This restaurant was good, but could have been better.
Good Food, excellent service from our waiter, Igor. Will definitely be back!
We arrived an hour after our reservation due to my mistake and the staff were very accommodating and seated us right away. The food was wonderful and we will definitely return!
The Chart House simply never disappoints, for food, ambiance, or service. This is a must-do in Boston.
Yes, I would recommend, but I would caution that the right table will make all the difference. Our table was right next to service, and was on a really slanted floor, so sauces and whatnot would slide off the plate. The Chart House also has a chain sort of feel, because, well its a chain. Anyway, it was still good, if you want a safe spot to take an older crowd.
All delicious food but upstairs carpeting had a musty smell when eating. Love the Chart House but they should think of taking out older carpeting.
One of our team members is vegan, they made her a special meal and when dessert arrived, she hadn’t ordered, our waitress came out with vegan sorbet for her. It helped make the night that she could find with all of us. Everyone raved about their steak and and seafood!!
We love this place so much. Food is always stellar and we look forward to our trips to Boston so we can eat here again.
Good food. Fair price. Excellent service ( thank you Milan)
One of our mainstays when in Boston
Will go again
Best prime rib I have EVER had & at age 72 I have had a lot of prime rib.
Our family was delighted by the ambiance, location and genuine dining experience of the Chart House atmosphere for a special birthday celebration. Thank you Chart House Boston for providing the perfect environment!
The Chart House never fails. Great food, atmosphere and wonderful service
My 11year old and I loved it. My husband thought it was mediocre. The ahi tuna appetizer was fantastic! I loved the old world charm of th building. Igor was a great waiter. I would definitely return if in Boston.
Love coming here! It’s mine and my hubby’s celebration go-to!
Had a great dinner in this historic setting. Architecture is beautiful and our waitress Janet shared the building's history, including its ties to John Hancock, with us! My husband and I took our 13 year old son and we all had a very nice meal. Some folks were at big tables, others at intimate tables for two and all seemed to be enjoying the ambiance. I'd recommend The Chart Room to local friends and out of town visitors.
We have been going to the Chart House for the past 22 years for our wedding anniversary. We will be doing it for many more years.
First trip to Boston I chose this restaurant at random and I’m glad I did! The atmosphere was cozy yet romantic, and the service was on top of their game. My favorite part was the delicious food that came out to us in no time at all.
nice birthday lunch
Great ambient and service. Unforgettable food.
We had a wonderful time there.
They must have been overbooked as it seems we waited forever to get seated. Once seated the service was ridiculously slow, our waiter was very nice but just too busy. I’m sure running up and down three flights of stairs for drinks takes it’s toll on the staff. We will not be returning.
I realize it was NYE, but we have dined for years at Chart House establishments at various locations at various times including high volume times. NEVER have I been hit in the head by a tray of food, not had our crumbs cleaned, not offered the house special dessert first to have it prepared for the end of the meal (and we said we weren’t having apps b/c we wanted dessert), and never asked if we wanted refills on our alcohol. We ordered lobster and King Crab Kegs and never rec’d the appropriate utensils. Worse experience ever.
The food and service were excellent and everything was very speedy even though it was NYE! Will definitely be back.
Good food with a good view. Made a reservation for New Year's Eve a couple of days before with a great success. Lobster bisque was delish with nice chunks of lobster meat. Husband had the filet with a lobster tail. Both were cooked perfectly. I ordered the scrod stuffed with lobster, it was not my favorite. The fish was flaky and tender, the stuffing was what I did not enjoy. But that has no reflection on the food, it is just my preference. We will definitely return in the future.
Food was good but service was appaling. Things started off ok but then waiter would disappear for 25 minute stints. Dinner took 3 hours. Should have been 2 at most. We were given menus and Jospeh the waiter took drink order and then disappeared for 20 min. Then came back to take order. Disappeared again was never seen until after entrees delivered. Then when meaks were done we sat with dirty dishes for another 25 min. He then brought check. Um we woukd like dessert. Took desert order and then never came back. Manager sent a busboy over with a check. My husband then paid manager. Jospeph did find the time to chase us out the door yelling we had not paid. Never again! Too expenive a meal to be neglected like this. In addition. We never git a bowl fir crab remnants, never got mushroom side we ordered, never git anything to clean up after cracking crab - the list is long.
Oh and best thing that happened - my oldest son was delivered his meal (or so he thought). So he proceeded to pick the basil sprigs off with his fingers. The delivery boy came back and said thats not yours. My son told him he had used fingers to pick out the basil. Guy then picked dish up and delivered to another table - AFTER MY KID PICKED THE BASIL OUT OF IT WITH HIS FINGERS. Nope never again!
Food better than average; service needs some personality and attention.
Great food, great service. "Forgot we were celebrating our aniversary, even though I told them . Got a also ran table, . Our daughter wantd to buy us a bottle of wine but the rest. Said no- "we don'ccept credit cards oer te phone" when I spoke to management they sa8d " we forgot"
Do not go here for aniversarys or any other special occasion. Thetr food 8s grest but terrible management
The Sweet and spicy Mahi Mahi was over cooked and the sauce is out of a $3 bottle that you can find at any grocery store. The creamed spinach however is amazing.
Waiter forgot our appetizer.
The place is beautiful and the meal was really good. Everybody enjoyed the food but we were all in agreement that the service was very poor.
From the hostess to the waiters and leaving the restaurant.. Definitely room for improvement.
Host was warm and engaging. Bar area staff did not acknowledge us while we were waiting for our table. Disappointing as we wanted drinks and would have easily spent money on some beverages. Waiter was friendly and knowledgeable on menu items. Food was well prepared and delicious. Server checked back a few times at beginning bit then seemed too busy with other tables to come back as we had to flag him down to order more drinks. He was prompt with delivering the check and processing our payment.
My brother and I came here for the first time on Christmas Day and every single item we ordered was amazing. We are both in the restaurant industry and honestly, we’re super happy and pleased with the food and service. Thanks for a great meal!
My family and I went there on Christmas night the server was very cold to us (they didn't have a kids menu and Didn't have Man n Cheese for my 9 year old daughter) and she seem like she didn't show empathy) the Clam Chowder was wonderful and the rest of the food was mediocre at best but, the waiter couldn't find her (waited 15 minutes) and other waiters just walked by us (and we had our hand up) and on the way out my wife used the 🚻 restroom with my daughter and they was no toilet paper and in the Men's room it had paper towels all over the floor. Never coming back. First impressions lasting impressions.
We live about 45 minutes north of Boston and love making the trip in for special occasions! The Chart House has wonderful and fresh seafood, great drinks, desserts, in an inviting environment. On this night we were seated next to a large party who allowed their toddler to throw food in our direction. That was unfortunate but beyond your control. The only thing I didn't like was witnessing our waiter wiping his nose with his hand then picking up a drink at the bar with the same hand to serve it. Otherwise everything was great.
My family and I had Christmas dinner and it was perfect! Great menu great service!
Christmas Dinner at the Chart House was a wonderful experience! Ariel, our waiter, was very attentive and had some great recommendations! The food was excellent and the presentation was wonderful! A definite do again!
