First, the good... the food was absolutely amazing and cooked perfectly and presentation was spot on. The service was ok, the waitress was good, not great.
But what irritates me is I came here to celebrate an anniversary, as I stated in my reservation, and most places have done a little small thing to make anniversaries memorable (such as a champagne toast, or dessert, or something), but Chart House is not one of those places. Which was disappointing by itself. Made worse, our reservation was not until 8:15 at night, with plenty of window seating available at that time, and Chart House did not honor our request to sit next to a window. While the food was good, there was absolutely nothing memorable about dining here that would make me want to go back, nor would encourage me to recommend this place to any of my friends or coworkers looking for a special occasion dining venue.
We had a great time and the weather was perfect for lunch on the patio. Our server Mark was terrific! And the food was great!
Great brunch experience! Food and service were fabulous. We really enjoyed our experience
Waitress was ruid acting like we were bothering her food was cold
Wonderful graduation celebration. Couldn't have been more special. Great food, service and ambiance.
Great food. Best prime rib on Earth
Used to love this restaurant but hadn’t even back in several years. Booked 2 weeks in advance for a bday dinner but didn’t feel dry welcome as the manager visited my table several times asking how many guests were coming because he was thinking of movie us to a smaller table. We saw several open tables so not sure why. Food was just okay. The crab stuffing and appetizer lacked seasoning altogether and badly needed something to spruce it up. Drinks were okay and servers were good and patient. View of the water was the only thing great.
Met with friends from Richmond, Va. There was no hassle with the reservation. The Chart House staff was attentive and very courteous. They sat us at a table by the window overlooking the Potomac and the marina. The food was delicious. The staff was attentive to our needs, and did not hurry us out of the restaurant. It was an excellent experience.
Service was sloppy. Atmosphere was noisy and chaotic. Food was decent but unremarkable. There were many large parties.
My wife and myself enjoyed ourselves. It was my wife’s birthday and they did everything to make our experience wonderful. This is the first time at the Chart House. I would recommend it to anyone. Thank you for a wonderful evening.
Alexander was great!!!!
Great service and food was great. Table was a little tight for 6 people
Nice ambiance! POOREST quality med rare PRIME RIB (bad cut?)!
3 guests share response! Each left majority of theirs un-consumed!
1 returned / replacement same quality as original.
Appetizer (gourmet escargot) was outstanding.
Returning an entree is not recommended nor should it be necessary,
especially at an "upscale" eatery. CHART HOUSE again? Maybe.
Service was a bit slow
there were long periods where the waitress didn't come by to check on us.
Water glasses were empty for a while. Appetizer dishes needed clearing for a long while.
Nice nice waitress, but she told us she was too busy elsewhere in the restaurant.
Chart House Alexandria offers very good seafood and steaks with a beautiful view of the water. Service is attentive. Prices are what you would expect ($30-50 per entree, $5-10 for additional shared sides).
We come to this area at least once a year and lunch at Chart House is always on our schedule. We came twice on this visit. This restaurant is as near perfect as you can find. The whole staff makes every visit a good day to remember. I can tolerate the music but would love to hear smooth jazz in the background. I'm old but I understand the young people have to have their noise. If they only new what they are missing, this world might be more well behaved.
Lovely quiet setting, overlooking the Potomac River. Excellent service from our waiter, who didn’t mind that we stayed for ages and just talked. I had crab cake and coconut shrimp as an entree, and it was really delicious. The salad bar is abundant, but costs $6:50 with your entree or $10 as a main course salad. Totally recommend the Chart House.
Amazing food was great it was fast serving
The food was great and my mother enjoyed her special day.
I've been going to the Chart House for years. This time my experience wasn't so great. The food was excellent. However, the salad bar was not as good as I remembered it. A few areas at the salad bar was empty. Such the regular lettuce and when I asked the lady behind the salad bar that they were out of bacon bits, she seemed to be bothered. Not sure why. She seemed annoyed when I asked her if I could get some bacon for my salad. Over all the salad bar was a disappointment for me. Needs to be better and you need to have salad bar upstairs. My Mom has a bad knee and she had to walk up and down the stairs. Very bad inconvenience. As for the main food, drinks and desert. Very good. Lava cake was amazing. However, the lighting where we sat was very dark. Too dark. It would be nice if they added additional lights so we could see the menu. I had to use my flashlight on my phone to see the menu.
So, the best part. The part was our Waiter. He was amazing. Very polite to me, my brother and especially my Mother. Very kind and professional. He was the one that suggested the Lava cake. Amazing! He would be the main reason why I would come back again.
The venue was beyond “outstanding.” I want to especially commend the wait staff, who were over worked, but found time to treat my group as we were the only persons in the Restraunt. The cocktail recommended for my mother was on target, so much so that she, who never drinks, had a second. Applauds to Charthouse!
The location being on the waterfront sets the ambiance of the restaurant. The service from when we first entered the restaurant, dining, and leaving were stupendous!
I love dining at Chart House, the food and ambiance is great.
Our visits to Chart House are always wonderful and satisfying with an exceptionally warm welcome from Sarah, one of the managers, to the VERY cordial, professional and helpful service from Skylier who timed the delivery of our courses perfectly, was perfectly attentive and accommodated my wife's'meal adjustments with grace. Sarah and another manager would stop by briefly to ensure our comfort and satisfaction with the mean and service. This is the kind of consistent service and professionalism that has made Chart House our favorite restaurant both for special occasions as well as those"just because" moments!
My family and I have been going to this Chart House for years. Each time we go, we receive terrible service, say we’re never coming back, and then try to give it another chance only to have terrible service again. We went for Mother’s Day lunch. It took us over 1 hour and 20 minutes to receive our entrees for lunch! Tables around us got their food, ate and were leaving while we were still waiting. The waitress barely apologized and the manager was acting dumb about it. I can honestly say I will never go back to the Alexandria Chart House. They need new management and more professional servers.
I hadn't been to the Chart House in years and was very pleased to see that it was as good as I had remembered. The food was excellent as was the service.
The food was great and the server was very patient with my always annoying cousin on a very busy Mother’s Day.
Our dining experience was a disappointment! These are the particulars: The flounder was to have been topped with crab, but came with a grayish-brown fish-like concoction that tasted nothing like crab. The prime rib, allegedly herb-encrusted, was bland and tasteless. The accompanying mashed potatoes were cold and hard, and absent of any taste. The only reason we didn’t give a „poor“ rating was the tasty bruschetta board. It was the meals‘ only saving grace.
Excellent food, service and view of the Potomac. I had the halibut (baked) which had a wonderful flavor. I definitely recommend it.
Always love to celebrate Mother's day at Chart House
We went to the Chart House for their Mother’s Day brunch. The service was great, but the food was not up to par for the price and the style of the restaurant. It was sloppily served, lacked flavor, and overall just was not what you would expect for a nicer restaurant. On the plus side, they offered great cocktails. We will not be returning. I wouldn’t recommend and with all the great restaurants in Old Town your money can be spent better elsewhere.
It was my mother’s 88 birthday and the team really created a wonderful experience for her. The menu with her name on it really made her day!!! Thank you for going above and beyond for my mother.
This was Mother’s Day and my wife’s favorite restaurant everything was great but we had a problem with our meal just about everything that was served was cold our main course both were served cold management came to correct the problem and did we just wanted to have a hot meal to me it made me think someone thinks I was trying to get a free meal witch I can pay for thanks for asking and yes our server was great
Wonderful location on the water, but the food and service was not as good as we remember from previous years (been going there 15 or so years). It used to be one of the best salad bars in the region, but the selection and quality have declined to average. The dinner entrees were good but not spectacular, and were pricey. Hopefully they were just having a bad day.
Mother’s. Day !!!! No good. The restaurant in Boston is excellent thought!!!
Food was terrible. Service was terrible. Ambience was terrible. This Chart house is on the decline. Chipped glass. Bent Fork. 25 minute wait for a 3:15 reservation. Waiter overwhelmed and got no help. Salad bar empty and dirty. Appetizers came with entrees about 40 minutes after order placed. No check back by server. Drinks not refilled or reordered. Didn’t offer desert menus to our party of 6, but brought the preordered lava cake. Terrible experience. I am a Landry Select Club member and have been a thirty year customer of this Chart House. The last two visits are noticeably subpar, but this was horrible.
The food is good and the view is great. I would like to recommend my friends to the restaurant.
Great day s d view
This place never disappoints!
The table we were initially sat at was terrible because its a 6 person booth they split into two separate 2 person tables, so for the first 10 minutes I was staring a stranger in the face because of the table's angle. Fortunately the other group was moved to a different table, but that was the only real drawback to our dining experience. Our waitress was great and so was the food.
