Chart House Restaurant - Alexandria Ratings and Reviews
Although I had a reservation and my guest had already been seated, I had to wait in line to announce myself and then had to wait for someone to escort me to the table. This was a long process. Others who came after me were escorted before me. Meanwhile, my guest was waiting. The salad bar was mediocre and certainly not worth $6. The trout was the highlight -- very good. The view was beautiful. The waiter was helpful. Overall, a pleasant experience once seated. But, there are much better options in the area at comparable or less expensive prices.
I took my boyfriend here for his birthday. We were seated in the lighthouse area of the restaurant, right by the window so we could watch the boats pass by. The room featured a ceramic fireplace, it really set the mood for a romantic dinner. Our server was fantastic, we tried the Mojito flight which was more (drink) than we expected, it was great. Our food was delicious and we left stuffed. I can't wait to go again.
Food was excellent and view was amazing. I was impressed by the inventiveness of the menu, some really unique seafood based options. The gazpacho was excellent. My spouse had the crab soup and that, too, was very good. Expansive wine options and the service was casual but attentive.
My wife is gluten and dairy free. She had grilled chicken which she didn’t eat because it was so salty. I had clam chowder which had not taste. I also had the Cobb salad. That also didn’t have any taste. The chicken was bland and the blue cheese didn’t taste like blue cheese.
Our kids got us a gift card there for our anniversary. What a disappointment. The shrimp cocktail was good but the rest was awful.
Chart House in Alexandria is the favorite of mine and my wife's. We have consistently chosen Chart House in Alexandria for our special occasions, e.g. birthdays, anniversaries and we've welcomed the New Year in the Chart House every year for the past four years. We especially appreciate the service and particularly the greeting from Sarah, a manager, whenever we're there. The overall attitude and professionalism of the staff, as well as the selection and quality of the meals is wonderful!
The salad bar this time was disappointing. There were very few items on the bar and a lot of the items were not fresh. We traveled far to have the salad bar because the last two times we were there it was great. The only saving part of the meal was the mud pie.
We go to visit family in the DC area once or twice a year and have made Chart House a regular place to take them out. Seafood is fresh and well prepared with plenty of options for toppings and sides. Salads can make a whole meal. The wine list has our favorites. Noise level leaves room for conversation. The view is the best in three states (and the District)! Service (including hostess) can be a bit less than gracious at times, but that is our only complaint. It tends toward the pricey range, but considering the location, we consider it good value.
Although I’ve never eaten out on on Thanksgiving, ever, Thanksgiving dinner was terrific! Had the last available seating because I was picking up family at airport after traveling. Very nice ambiance and food was wonderful in the Alexandria Chart House location. No mess to clean up! Recommended!
The Chart does a business on Thanksgiving. Wide range of options--seafood, beef, even chicken--including a tradition turkey dinner. I'd say the food was a little better last year, but that may just be my dinner (I had the same thing both years). The service last year was definitely better. Our main issue was that the hostesses told me our wait to be seated (we had reservations) would be "momentarily." When, after 20+ minutes of wait, I went back to the hostesses to point out this wasn't "momentarily" any more, they claimed we were already seated. In the waiting area, yes. At our table no. Otherwise, the Chart does a fine job, albeit with a full restaurant turning tables all night, on Thanksgiving.
This restaurant is superb. I only gave it four stars overall because the talking was a little loud which is to be expected nowadays.
The view was tremendous. Sunset on the Potomac is really nice.
The food was excellent and I believe a great price for the setting.
Although we went there for the Thanksgiving holiday, I would recommend this restaurant for the view and the service. Our waiter was superb; and, if you are on a romantic date, this is the place to go.
I have made The Chart House in Alexandria a must visit. My daughter and I have celebrated Thanksgiving there for the last three years and enjoyed it each time. I have visited n business dinners as well and have never been disappointed. The menu has varied options without being overpowering. The Thanksgiving Dinner is excellent as well. I highly recommend The Chart House for all occasions, casual dining, or that special date or event. Kudo's to the staff there. I will be back soon!
We ate at Chart House for a birthday dinner the night before Thanksgiving. Delicious. Had a table overlooking Potomac with views of National Harbor, all the light across the river, airplanes flying by into Reagan Airport - great viewing. We all had seafood - red snapper, sea bass, stuffed flounder and everyone was happy.
We made reservations for a birthday. Although we indicated the special occasion in the reservation, the restaurant ignored it. There were a lot of parties in the restaurant on that day and we asked to move to a quieter table. This request was quickly accommodated. The Baked Crab Dip appetizer was good. My mother-in-law and I got the Farmer's Market Salad and neither of us would recommend it. My husband and his mother got the Cream of Crab Soup and they said it was too thick and filling. The Thai, Shrimp and Coconut soup was spicy and tasty. For the three of us, with no entrées, the total was nearly $100. Not a good value. I will try Chart House again for happy hour, but not for a meal.
The service an atmosphere is fantastic. Took the wife there on a date night. Our waiter Eric was very attentive and polite. Unfortunately for me that was it. Food service was quick but when I received my order it was cold. I was quickly served a new plate though but the taste to me was just average. My wife did enjoy her meal and she thought the food was very good. When I received the cheque, I noticed that I was charged twice for my meal and had to have one removed. To me personally, though the place is beautiful and has great service and ambience, it was not worth the price of the meal. Food was served basically warm and was average tasting to me. I will not be going back there.
