My Mother’s 65th birthday
Chart House Alexandria has some great tasting food. Basically everything is made there, even the breads. They make a 7 layer chocolate cake on the spot for your table which you must pre-order as they need time to bake it for you. Seafood to meats, this place is not beatable. Waiters are extremely helpful and seating by the window is must !!! Great view of the bridge and National Harbor.
Great Food and Service. Great View. Hilton, our Server, was EXTRAORDINARY!
This was a business dinner, and I could not have asked for more. Service was quick, efficient, food excellent, quiet noise levels so we had no trouble talking, beautiful view of the river, right in Old Town. I chose this restaurant for all these reasons, and could not be more pleased with the outcome.
Beautiful views of the Potomac River and National Harbor. The grilled salmon was delicious.
Excellent food but the food took too long on getting to the table. The waitress was excessively overwhelming trying you to drink and eat almost everything in the menu and showing her disappointment when you didn’t follow her indications.
Great food, great view, great food! Loved it! Always look forward to dining here.
Great food and we were given a window table. Was very nice since it was an anniversary celebration! The waiter was extremely courteous.
I've eaten here many times and had especially selected this restaurant to celebrate my birthday with friends. On this on this occasion the experience was a little disappointing. The restaurant was surprisingly crowded for a 6:00 pm booking and, thus, the service a bit slow/lackluster (our entrees arrived before we had even begun to eat our starters). A rather uncomfortable contretemps between diners at nearby tables also spoiled some of the dining experience.
Had a great night, service was good as well as food!!
The service was excellent and the food was amazing. We sat near the window with a beautiful view of the water and national harbor. Looking forward to eating hear again soon.
If you like steak and want it med-rare you might want to ask for rare. The Alaska King Crab legs where a little smaller than I expected having had them before at a different restaurant on the west coast. Also they must have been a little on the older side because 70% of the meat I had to dig or scrape out of the shell : | which means to me they were on the dry side. I only mention the crab legs because they were almost $60. They tasted ok it was a lot of work for something that should not have been. The reset of the meal and drinks were very good and worth the price paid. Our server was OUTSTANDING and made up for some of the other things I found bothersome.
To celebrate the anniversary of my mother’s death
This has always been one of our favorites. You pay for the ambiance, but it is a great place to take friends or that special occasion. This time we had the crab cakes, and I have to say even better than anything in Annapolis. What can be better than having great company, great food, and a fantastic view
My waiter was very inattentive. I think he was new. Other than that, it was a fine meal, as usual.
We went for the crab cake special and the crab soup. Both were excellent , service very
Good , view of the river can’t be beat. Overall one of our favorite places .
Go early for a window table.
Excellent food as usual
Amazing service. Great food. Salmon and filet mignon were outstanding. Don't miss the molten lava choc cake! Love this place.
Very tasty food with good-sized portions. Tried the prime rib for the very first time here after having eaten here regularly for at least a decade and was extremely pleased. Definitely enhances their reputation in my eyes, and they were already very highly rated.
Great food, great ambiance, terrific service. The view was worth the hour's drive.
We've been to this Chart House numerous times over the last 14 years and have almost always enjoyed a great experience but the last two times we dined here have been disappointing at best. Service remains good, although not as good as on previous occasions, but they did seem a bit under-staffed on this Sunday afternoon. Several salad bar items needed replenishment and the reception desk seemed somewhat overwhelmed at times even though it was a Sunday at 5:00pm and they didn't appear very busy. The most disappointing was the food itself. In our group of five, only one was happy with the main entree. Other dinners were over or under-cooked and were mediocre at best. Consequently, we've decided not to go back for a year or more as there are so many other great restaurants in the area.
Amazing restaurant with just the right amount of ambiance. I enjoyed the view and the food. It's a wonderful place for any occasion. A trip to the Torpedo Art Gallery topped off the evening perfectly!!! This is one of the many reasons I love Alexandria.
My Family and I dined on 3/4 for Sunday brunch in celebration of my husband’s birthday. The customer service from the minute we walked through the door was exceptional! Molly, our waitress was very attentive and patient as we were a party of 8. Can’t wait to visit again! Thanks!
Nice restaurant on the water and with good views. We did the Sunday Brunch, but thought it was a little overpriced ($27pp) for eggs as the main course. It included the salad bar, but that too could have used a little more variety and fresher bread, bagels, etc. Probably better to order from the main menu for the same price. We were not 'rushed' so sitting with friends at our leisure was nice. Again, would recommend this place based on the location while visiting Old Town Alexandria.
We were a party of 8, celebrating my birthday. The noise level was VERY high. It was almost impossible to carry on a conversation with someone unless they were sitting next to you. Our grandson's order got mis-communicated (or forgotten), and it arrived about 10 minutes after the rest of us were served. Food was okay, not terrific. For the price of the meal, the service and quality of food was mediocre. Not a great experience; okay, not excellent.
The Chart House provides consistent value and good food. Can't beat the waterfront location.
There's something for everyone at the Chart House, including non-seafood lovers.
Nice wine list.
Celebrated my boyfriends 40th birthday. Everything was pretty good. The crab dip was amazing as usual!
We came here for lunch after a funeral at Arlington. We had 13 people and they made sure we had 2 servers. Very friendly staff , great atmosphere and great food including an incredible salad bar .
Service by Erin was fantastic. She’s attentive and a pro. Ask for her when you’re next at this super restaurant with incredible DC views! This is a great DC/ VA restaurant!
This Chart House never disappoints. A beautiful Birthday meal at a fine table overlooking the water. The Fireplace room is always the best.
Everything was prepared well and presented by an excellent server. The salad bar cannot be beat. Go and enjoy.
Our waiter was great, his suggestions were right on. The food was fine but pricey compared to some of the other great food in the DC area. The view is fun. Definitely order the crab tater tots- we all agreed that those and a salad or side would have been a great meal!
Had a very nice business meal. We could speak openly. The food was very good though my client's steak was under done. Also just a nit but the tables seem a little close and I was getting constantly bumped by the table next to mine. These are small things in a generally great evening.
I always remember this restaurant being great. The crab dip was not great and the steak had no flavor and dry. The salad bar had soggy options it is not kept up. I was very disappointed because I have been here so many times. My steak was cooked wrong two times and I just didn’t want to keep sending the steak back so I just ate it.The service was good but I have to say the food quality has sadly gone down.
Service was great though
The food was amazing and so was the service. We made reservations, got there on time and they had our table ready when we arrived. They didn't do too well with my request I made for a table with a nice view. We were sat kind of far from the windows. Other than that the dinner was great.
Ambiance was great, food was great, but what made it even better was Christina, who guided us thru our wonderful dining experience!! She was very thorough in describing the menu and making suggestions on what additions would make each entree the best. She and her trainee were very attentive, but not overly so, making sure we had everything we needed. We were comfortable from the time we walked in the door until the time we left. Chart House is definitely well worth the trip and we will surely recommend it to our friends.
Our waiter as amazing; he was funny and attentive. Made my husband’s birthday celebration one of the best.
Six of us recently dined at Chart House to celebrate my two grown sons' birthdays.
Bottom line up front - it's not inexpensive but we all had a wonderful time and we will return.
The food and service were exceptional . I was worried that this place was known as a "tourist trap"and that their location was their only attraction.
Not true. Our appetizers and main courses were all exceptional. The calamari fritti, prime ribs, chopped salad, stuffed flounder and deserts were outstanding.
Serious Note to management - lose the salad bar. It's not worth the price compared to your a la carte salads and it makes a poor impression as we walked by it on the way to our table.
I took my sister to Chart House for her birthday. It was our first time there. The food was EXCELLENT EXCELLENT and plentiful. So plentiful that we got full off the appetizers. BEST calamari ever. The lava cake was just sinfully delicious! The other person in our party had been there, and she had nothing but good things to say about Chart House too. Ambiance was excellent. We sat next to the window that looked out over the water. Our server was friendly and attentive. We ended up leaving her a 30% gratuity.
