We enjoyed our dinner and it was a great place to celebrate our anniversary.
Loved the Anniversary card and dessert treat! Thank you!
My Dad and I came here to celebrate my birthday. The food was delicious! The service was very slow.
We had lunch here and the selections was not a lot. The calamari was over cooked.
The experience was amazing. Myself and my boyfriend truly enjoyed our time together. We will be back!
I did not enjoy my food and the service was terrible we had 2 waiters and we barely seen either one of them.
We had an amazing experience. Our waitress, from Botswana (we sadly forgot her name) was warm and provided excellent service. We were able to celebrate our son’s birthday with the appropriate accommodations addressed; table by the water and a dessert with a candle. Thank YOU.
Very disappointing. The waiter was new and spilt the water on the table. The food was very late and our food was given to another table. They left. Our food when we finally got it was obviously reheated. And not very palatable. They did not charge us for the entries. However we will not go back.
Food was great. Service was great. Would have preferred to sit outside. View was still amazing.
Great waitress - Kunda
The menus and our appetizer were never cleared from the table. After food delivered (not by our waiter) the next time we say the waiter we were done eating. Honestly and truly, you could tell the poor waiter was trying, but had no clue what he was doing. Go to Olive Garden or outback and hire experienced waiters. This poor guy never worked in a restaurant.
The restaurant was dirty with dead bugs in the windowsills. My chopped salad looked like it was weeks old with the lettuce looking like it had no life. My crab dip had large chunks of un melted cheese in it and the bread which accompanied it was cold and hard as bricks. My husband and I was there for our Anniversary. We will not be coming back.
Our waiter was attentive. We sat outside which makes me feel comfortable. We had a very enjoyable dinner with good food and friends.
It was good overall and would go there again and recommend friends.
I was appalled by the service that I received at the Chart House. The server was very bad (Zack);I had to request another server. When the server brought the bread after I had been there for 45 minutes there was hair on the bread! The napkin was also very dirty. I asked for a manager that didn’t handle the situation very well. The only thing that he had to say was “I’m Sorry”. For the price of the food it was horrible! I go to a lot of fine dine restaurants but this was by far the worst experience I have ever had. I Strongly suggest you don’t go to this restaurant!
My granddaughter graduated
The service was amazing. Our waitress and hostess really saved the experience. On the other hand, the food was bland and just not good at all. The blackened salmon was highly recommended but there was no seasoning. I give the food one star out of politeness and the service 5.
We appreciate the classic decor, menu and overall vibe of Chart House. The food was tasty, and service was excellent.
I selected the Chart House in Alexandria, Va to celebrate the birthday of a very special friend. I had been to the Chart House multiple times, but this was my friends first and she was overwhelmed with the dining experience. We arrived a little early and had time to walk around the water front and take pictures which was awesome. She loved everything about the Chart House. The Chart House atmosphere, appetizers, drinks, dinner, and dessert was excellent. Zachary our waiter was very a tentative, polite, and offered the best service. I will look forward to my next dining experience at the Chart House.
Excellent service and the food was good. Definitely will be coming back
I felt like I have had better meals at the Chart House. My Caesar salad was not as fresh and the Salmon was prepared well but I have had better. Overall taste was just ok.
Great food, fabulous service and wonderful view of the Potomac River. Definitely recommend!!
Food was only ok, not the caliber it used to be. Our Party had the stuffed shrimp with riced cauliflower as a side- shrimp was a bit chewy. Grilled Salmon with riced cauliflower, Grilled Ahi and riced cauliflower- salmon and ahi were decent but nothing to rave about. The cauliflower had the consistency of soggy stuffing, no one ate more than two bites it was not good. Fourth person had a dinner salad- size was more of a side salad than dinner salad- left hungry. The online menu is not the same as the in house menu- in house is much more limited. Server indicated that Flounder was available, only to come back after ordering and tp say there was no flounder at all. Disappointing visit, won't be back.
Great service; staff very helpful. Lovely view. The food was good.
Waiter was a little slow in responding to our needs.
Two birthdays celebrated. Chart House staff even printed Happy Birthday message on the day’s menu. What a surprise! Our server, Callie, was a jewel!
Our server, Kunda, was excellent!
We went to celebrate a 60th birthday and I had called a few days ahead to tell them this and they told me they would print menus with the celebrants name. When they seated us they gave us someone else's menus....and then just gave us plain menus. Secondly, I mentioned about doing something at dessert for the person celebrating and nothing was done. For something that we thought would be a little extra fun for the birthday person...it didn't happen. Very disappointing....
This is one of our favorite restaurants. Unfortunately, because of COVID, it has been a long time since our last visit. Our visit this weekend reminded us of how much we really enjoy the food and service at the Chart House. We requested and were seated at a table by a window overlooking the Potomac. Mrs. and I, over cocktails, both shared a jumbo shrimp cocktail – such a wonderful difference in the quality and excellent taste. Then both had salads with grilled shrimp – again, delicious. Our server was very attentive. An excellent dining experience. We are so happy to return to dining out at the Chart House.
I used to visit Chart House before the pandemic. Even back then it was just OK…nothing special…but unfortunately it has now gone downhill big time. This lunch menu now consists of a very small number of choices of simple, mediocre, and grossly overpriced bar food, and there is no way to order anything else if you go for lunch. I should have checked the menu before booking my reservation because I definitely would not have come if I had done so. They charge $17 for a small plate of fried shrimp served very poorly over scattered French fries with 3 dipping sauces that taste like pure molasses…the sauces are far to sweet to eat and they don’t even go with fried shrimp. This type of small dish is worth less than half that price…$6 or $7 max as an appetizer at a dive bar. The service was OK, nothing to write home about…but it was abnormally slow for the restaurant being only half full. Unfortunately I think it general the restaurant industry is struggling to stay relevant in a post COVID world where most people prefer to order more reasonably priced takeout from more well respected national chains without having to pay 15% gratuity for average or below average service. Almost all restaurants took a huge financial hit during the pandemic, and now they are trying to recover by jacking up their prices while cutting corners on quality. This is the strategy Chart House is clearly taking, and it’s not going to work in the long term because people don’t like being ripped off by restaurants. Our bill ended up at almost $140 for a party of 5 including gratuity for a very underwhelming meal, and we’ve had far better meals with better service for less than $60 at diners. I will definitely not return to Chart House anytime soon. Their heyday is long behind them in Old Town Alexandria, and it’s time for them to close down and hand over the reins to a higher quality more upscale restaurant that actually deserves to operate in such a prime waterfront location.
Fish was severely overcook to the point of being the same consistency as saw dust.
Missed seeing crab cakes on the menu!
Rodney was an excellent waiter he took care of myself and my guest.
Fantastic experience, service was impeccable and a lovely touch of an anniversary card! Food was superb as always and our server had great wine and drink recommendations.
My daughter’s birthday.
Seated at a window with a view of the Potomac without asking! Requested that our served not rush us but not forget us which she handled quite well. Food was fabulous, as always. Chart House has survived the pandemic with little to no visible fallout. It was great to be back.
Food was delicious!
Disappointed by the food and service here. Steak was overdone! We told our server we couldn’t eat potatoes, she recommended vegetables instead and when the bill came they charged us each $5.00 for subbing the vegetables for the potatoes. They both were the same price on the side dish menu, so should not have been charged extra. Also, our coconut shrimp appetizer had 4 small shrimp in a huge amount of crisp rice noodles, it was a joke! My Caesar salad had no flavor, I had to flag down another tables server for more dressing. We have always loved Chart House and we’re very disappointed 🙁
We hadn't been to Chart House in some time, but it is still a great place to have dinner. The food was very good and service was great. We would come back.
