I would recommend for a water view, however, the service and quality of food did not fit the price. It was not busy and our server was only around a few times. The food took longer than I expected and was average. I have been to the Chart House twice in the last year, and will not likely go again. There are much better choices in Old Town.
Party of 6 with 5:00pm reservation on a Sunday - no problems getting a nice table by the windows. Service was outstanding. Food was extremely good. Very pricey but all in all, worth it. Ongoing complaint is that the draft beer comes in a 12-oz (at best) glass vice a pint glass and they still charge $7.50
This was my first experience and it was absolutely as amazing! Definitely will be coming back!
Andre our server was excellent
Our server Taylor was OUTSTANDING!!!!! food was amazing
Filet was fantastic, service was decent.
Excellent food and atmosphere just a bit pricey for the serving you get.
It was a great meal. The salad bar is fantastic. This seems to be one of the few Chart Houses that still has one. I enjoyed the spiced ahi. Judy is a terrific server!
Anniversary/valentines - tables too close together. Felt weird.
Definitely not romantic..
Had I known the night was a post-Valentine’s special night I would have reserved a later time when it was less crowded or asked for a larger table. Small, intimate round tables are less than convenient when half the space is taken up by glasses, bread basket, candle, and flatware. I constantly worried someone was going to drop something on me or trip over me it was that tight. Service was excellent, but I felt that the bar was not up to their usual standard as my first two drinks were weak and only after an accidental bump that resulted in spilling most my second drink did the third actually taste strong enough. The service and management covered my spilled drink at no charge, but I ensured that had I tipped on full price with the three drinks included as it was not the waiter’s fault and should get the better tip.
Always a great time here. Food is great, wine is delicious! Wish I was not so stuffed so I could have had dessert! Great for a date night or special occasion.
Wonderful food, service and ambiance. The waterfront setting is such a nice backdrop to enjoy a delicious meal.
Highly recommend. Great experience as we got a seat next to the window. Food was superb and service was exceptional.
I ordered the Chilean Sea Bass and it was cooked to perfection. Our waitress was awesome.
Poor food, that's all I can say. The whole place needs better air conditioning too.
I cant recall my servers name but he was awsome... My crab cream soup was delicious... The Panned Chicken was also delicious .We will return very soon.
The restaurant is our favorite but this time we did not get to sit where we would have liked. It was hard for us to hear and the table seemed to be in the only passage way for the servers to get food to the other patrons.
Server was wonderful
They over booked and did not honor reservations. There was no place to sit or stand while waiting. The Chart House made no concessions for any of these.
It started off as a very bad experience because I made reservation on 2/14/2019 and had to wait almost a hour to be seated. Whats the point of a making reservations if I still have to wait.
Bright side : I love this place and after I was seated it was an amazing experience once again.
Could not keep a reservation! While the food experience was positive, the restaurant seated us 50 minutes after the reservation time!
First time and last time diners here. Made a reservation for Valentine's Day a month ago after rave reviews from coworkers and friends. My boyfriend dined at the one in Dana Point, California years ago and so I wanted to surprise him by taking him here in Alexandria. I received a call on Friday 2/8/19 confirming my reservation time for 2 people at 8:00 p.m. On Thursday, we show up at 7:45 and they definitely overbooked. There was no place to sit or stand while waiting, so we actually went to Blackwall Hitch for pre-dinner drinks because the Chart House bar was so crowded. We were not seated until 8:45, after making a 8:00 reservation. At Chart House, I totally understand the tables with a view on are a first come first serve basis and I put that in the comment section when I made the reservation, however we were seated upstairs, the table closest to the kitchen, with a view of the pipes in the ceiling. The tables were super close together and the actual table was really small, it made it hard to enjoy the dinner. Servers constantly bumped into our table. The food wasn't anything special and it took about 45 minutes to come out. The cut of prime rib we were served was really fatty. Our server was Nicholas and he was attentive. However, because of the things mentioned above we will not be returning, first impression was not a very good one.
Despite it being very busy, our waiter Jamie was fantastic! We never had to hunt him down and he was very friendly. Our food was fantastic and didn’t seem to take very long to come out. My date and I were very satisfied and we can’t wait to return!
Food was great and our server was awesome. Taking points off the rating due to being seated 45 minutes after our reservation.
Waited for almost an hour for a table that I put a reservation in for almost a month in advance... not acceptable
A little behind reservation time but it was a busy Valentine’s Day
We had reservations for 7:15 and were seated at 8:05. I may go there for an early or late lunch again, but never again for dinner.
The only issue we had was the extra almost 40 extra minute wait for our dinner [reservation at 7pm, wasnt seated until 7:38pm.]....I'll just leave it up to the fact it was Valentines Day. Our server Mark was polite and courteous...
My Wife and I went to another restaurant earlier and was very disappointed with the service before we could get our menu. We asked to be moved to another table and was rudely told "No" in a loud voice. No explanation or simply stating that the tables were assigned. Next we reviewed the Valentine menu found nothing that we liked.
We decided to leave the restaurant and by chance I looked at OpenTable and found an opening at 6:15 for the Chart House. We couldn't believe it but we had a great view and the food was excellent. Even the price we paid was the same price we would have paid at the first restaurant but with a bottle of wine included. Great Night and great service.
We are Landry's Select members and often enjoy a night out at the Alexandria Chart House. But never again on Valentine's Day! We had reservations at 6, but weren't seated until 6:40 (but my husband likes the bar there, so we had a drink and the wait wasn't too uncomfortable). Then, it was a good thing that we ordered the salad bar, because the kitchen was really slow to get our meal out (with no explanation from our server until we asked about it). The food was good, although my husband's prime rib was definitely on the rarer side of medium rare! The peanut butter ice cream was great.
The table was lovely (if a bit hard to slide in and out of the booth). We were glad to leave when we did, however, because a huge party (16 - 20 people, with a lot of kids) were seated directly in front of us and were quite boisterous as they came in -- definitely would have put a crimp in a "romantic" date if we'd have had them during the whole meal.
Service was good, considering the crowds of people.
Overall, we enjoyed our meal -- but I much prefer quieter evenings with fewer people.
Another great meal! A little bit of a seating delay and a bit more packed than usual thanks to Valentine's day, but overall great dinner!
Great service and great food! One of our favorite restaurants.
Had a great time at Chart House. Great drinks at the bar while we waited for our table. Our waiter was prompt and keep us supplied with everything we need to make the night special.
Good Job Chart House Staff !
The food and service was outstanding. The atmosphere was great. A perfect Valentines Dinner.
My wife and I have been to Chart House several times and have never been disappointed. Our last visit was Valentines Day 2019. Our server was Hilton. He was outstanding. He took very good care of us and next time I visit the Chart House I am going to request his section/table. If it were a 1-10 rating I'd give it a 100!
The food and service were terrific,as usual. I was disappointed that I am a Landry member, but we did not have a window seat for our 4:45 reservation. Also, the price of $185 for our Valentine’s meal was not really a deal, as described. The couple with us ordered ala carte items, and they basically had the same types of salads, entrees, and desserts for about fifty dollars less. I do not think the small bottle of wine that came with the Valentine’s special was worth the cost.
I could have made better food. It tasted like an upscale Texas road house. Food way to expensive for the quality.
Appetizers and crab cakes were very good though. Main course was very disappointing. The rice tasted like uncle bens microwave bag rice. Steak was dry even though medium rare.
Great service and great view. What more could a person need?
Good food, reasonably priced. The service was excellent. Our waitress was attentive and not only allowed us to have separate checks, but even split the dessert seven ways, since seven of us ate it! Really well handled. Chart House has a great view of the Potomac River. Alas, it was rainy and foggy during our lunch.
We had a lovely anniversary dinner. Julio and Victoria were our servers and were attentive and gave us great guidance on the menu (I have several food restrictions) and wine selection. The food was as wonderful as I had hoped for as I'd been dreaming of Ahi tuna ever since we made our plans to dine here for our celebration. Presentation was a bit lack luster for such a nice and pricey place....our meal didn't come with veggies and it was like they left that spot open on our plate so something looked like it was missing...maybe add garnish or just include veggies? But overall, I'd recommend this location without hesitation.
