Chart House Restaurant - Alexandria

Excellent seafood and service. Were seated at a lovely window table, overlooking the beautiful harbor and Potomac River. Waitress appeared immediately to welcome us. She was courteous and very attentive to our needs throughout our meal. Mrs had lemon herb crusted salmon, which absolutely mouth-watering, which Mrs said was delicious. I had a seasonal dish, autumn shade Swordfish, again excellent presentation and prepared exactly as requested. The swordfish was excellent, but even more notable was the perfect combination of the fish with the bean hominy ragu and smoked basmati rice … all delicious. And of course, how better to finish the meal off than with their Chart House specialty, hot chocolate lava cake … yummie!!! The Chart House is one our favorite restaurants in Old Town Alexandria.
As always José the server made us feel very special and took good care of us
Disappointed in food.
Food was average. My coworker had a steak and I had the mahi. We did enjoy the view and service was very good.
The food was awesome as always. I will definitely keep coming back
Service and food excellent. Wonderful atmosphere and delightful experience overall
Treated in a professional and friendly manner , management checked in several times to be sure all was well, and also had special requests honored
(Special Seating request and Vegan foods for two of our party)
Waiter Marc was attentive and friendly and took good care of us
Great food and view
My boyfriend and I love coming here. The service is always great and the food and drinks are even better! Highly recommend for date night!
Great food with a view that is stunning. Love the Salad bar with the caviar
Disappointing. The overpriced salad bar was picked over and we had to ask for lettuce. Also, no signs to be able to tell what was on the salad bar. Some items looked the same as others and it was difficult to know what you were putting on the plate. Hopefully someone with allergies doesn’t come along. The food was ok, but not for the price. I’m pretty sure they forgot to steam the steamed vegetables. The prime rib was tasty, but that was about the only positive part of our experience. Definitely will not be back.
I had trout--it was dry. Wife had shrimp, rice was not good. A beautiful restaurant but a bit disappointing on the food. For the money--not really worth the cost to include parking. Waiter was only tolerable but a bit hard to understand and not very pleasant. All in all I rate it a 3.
Charter house was an amazing experience! We celebrated our 4 year anniversary there i could not have asked for a better experience.
The view: AMAZING! Beautiful view of the river and got to watch the sunset
Food: absolutely perfect. The steak was some of the best steak i have ever had in my life
Value: a little pricey, but you 100% get more than you pay for
Service: everyone was amazing from the hostess, to the waiter, to everyone else we passed by. They went out of their way to congratulate us on our anniversary and it really meant the world to us.
This place is absolutely amazing and everyone should go
The staff made us feel great for our 35th anniversary! Thank you!
We were about 30 minutes early and it was Sunday brunch, the hostess was still kindly able to seat all 4 of us. Lovely setting, impeccable table. The salad bar was not the best and I felt silly not knowing where the plates were hidden. The waitress was also attentive and we did not feel rushed.
Food was excellent. Very loud, rude drunk couple probably should've been asked to quiet down. Food was reasonably priced and very tasty. Very pleasant waiter.
Great experience. Went here to celebrate my one year anniversary. Food was good service was great and the view from our table was perfect for the occasion.
only for drinks, view and shrimp--the other food was disappointing, the service was nice
Food from these types of chain restaurants can be good when done at the time, but even though we had dinner early, our food had all the feel and taste of being reheated. Definitely not worth the price. It would be a good buffet but the quality of the meal did not reflect the price.
The food at this restaurant is horrible. For the crab dip, it was imitation or inferior crab and we did not taste crab at all. The shrimp with stuff crab was the same as the crab dip, imitation or inferior crab. The warm spinach salad...horrible, and the trout, tasteless not to mention bland, with pico de gala, which was dry. I don't know what was going on with the cook, but they should have called in if they did not feel like cooking or preparing a good meal.
The food is good as always..it took 4 ATTEMPTS for me to receive my soup HOT, as I requested the first time..it constantly came out lukewarm..it was so annoying...I finally had to ask for a manager, all that is needed is to microwave it. Im a diabetic and needed to eat on time..and they were so slow and just no sense of urgency..when it finally came out, it was delicious...but it took forever..I asked for whip cream on my pina coloda, none came, I had to ask again, the waitress didnt pay attention to detail..I love that Chart house, but always have issue with service..the shrimp came out not along with the mashed pototao's which was my meal, the overall serivice was annoying and not very fast or good.
We sat out on the patio and had a fantastic view. Started out with the crab cake and charred octopus; both were amazing! Then I had the crab stuffed flounder which I could eat every day along with the creamy crab soup. We finished off with the fantastic chocolate lava cake.
Everything was wonderful and very fresh, our server Justin was very attentive and provided some advice on where to go in town after dinner. I will definitely be back the next time I’m in town.
Nice place, good food and attentive waiters.
Great views, food and service. My boyfriend got the Mojito flight which was very good.
Get the Calamari! Its amazing! The autumn swordfish was perfectly prepared. The view of the river at night is amazing. A window seat is definitely worth waiting for.
Service was good but the food was terrible. Did not like my food at all. And everything was overpriced. View of the water was nice. If you’re looking for ambiance this is the place.
Mediocre food and very mediocre service. I ordered prime rib medium rare. It came out red red. I asked for it to be cooked more, 12 minutes later (should have been 4 minutes) it finally comes out. Salad bar had very little on it. Everything looked old, leftover. My spinach was warm, not hot. Wine was good though!
Had a wonderful dinner overlooking the river - this is a great place.
Great place, very nice staff and excellent food. Highly recommend for any event.
Great service! Food came in a timely manner and the waiter was very nice and professional
Always have a good experience at Chart House. The waitress spilled a drink at our table and you would think with mimosas being 99cents a round would be offered on the house. Although the entrees were good $28 for Eggs Benedict seemed steep.
It is a great place to celebrate special occasions. Try reserving a table by the windows for wonderful views of the Potomac River.
Delish! Excellent, attentive staff. Lovely. Would recommend.
Always a great experience unless we’re in the low ceiling area
We went there for my grandson's 16th birthday. He had been there six years earlier celebrating his grandmothers 65th birthday. His visit then mad such an impression on him that when asked what he wanted to do for his birthday he said, with out hesitation, to go to the Chart House. The Chart House has been a part of many family milestones for us and we happily drive up from Fredericksburg to visit your restaurant. The customized menus are always a nice touch.
We visited Chart House for our wedding anniversary. We were given a table with a beautiful water view and an anniversary card was waiting at our table. Erin took great care of us and was so personable. She recommended the crab, shrimp, mango stack appetizer which was excellent; my husband had the Ahi tuna and I had the mac nut Mahi. It was a perfect dinner. Can't wait to return.
Lovely restaurant with a lovely view of the Potomac River. The service was excellent, and the food was delicious. My only critic is it could have had more scallops on the menu.
View of the Potomac River is excellent. Food is average for the price. Lots of pressure and up selling from the wait staff. Kicker was end of meal when they try to pressure you into joining their Landry’s Club for $25. The selling never ended. Was a bit uncomfortable.
