Chart House Restaurant - Alexandria

Other than the location it is a very mediocre place to eat - it comes closer to a fast food than a restaurant
Completely over priced for the quality of the food and the experience as a whole. I have paid an equal amount at other restaurants and had much better food and ambiance. Our server was kind and very helpful, however she was battling insufficient bar and cook services.
Plain and simple.....JUST DEVINE taste of foods. I’ve never had a bad meal.
The food was fantastic. Helen took care of us with exception service and recommendations.
Printed personalized menus and a birthday card from staff
Everything was perfect. The food, the gorgeous view, the warm service. Our server was so kind to our little ones. Really great
Beyond horrible service and management. We were literally the first customers to be seated and by the time our food came, the other people had paid and left. Our server and the manager both ignored us, had no customer service skills, no social awareness and no common sense.
It was my friend’s birthday and they wrote happy birthday with her name on it on the menus and gave us an amazing complimentary dessert. It was great!
This is my family’s second year celebrating all of our birthdays at Chart House. The service was excellent as well as the food. Definitely no complaints!
Food was ok. Dining area was fine. Service not so good. They took all of my silverware when I went to the salad bar.
Late evening reservation through Open Table warmly received, even though we only wanted dessert and coffee. Our host and server were very welcoming and accommodating. Ended up having prosecco to start before ordering dessert. Our server made a fresh pot of coffee, which was excellent. We appreciated having a nice table with a water view, and although our order was simple, we received a high level of attention and service which was very much appreciated.
Had a great time. Our server was new but informed
The reservation process worked great. The table service (Mark) was excellent -- friendly and responsive -- but the salad bar had not been replenished in a timely manner.
Not sure what it was but my girlfriend and I both got sick from what we ate. I still gave a good review because the experience was nice and the food actually tasted great going down. Only thing I would change is the lighting. If we have to pull out our phone flashlights to see the menu it is probably too dark.
The food was just ok. My manager sent back her food an did not eat. The crab soup was no good. I wasn’t wowed at all.
We entertained 6 out-of-town guests, and they enjoyed the dinner experience very much. We had made a reservation requesting window seating and were so appreciative that The Chart House accommodated our request. The food, service, and ambiance was outstanding.
our favorite when in Washington. Wait staff outstanding. Selection perfect.
Seafood beautifully prepared and presented. Perfect portion size. Great view of river.
It’s always noisy in there—hard to have conversations—that’s the only drawback.
Very accommodating. We arrived an hour earlier than our reservation but they graciously seated us anyway. I had the crab legs and my husband had the swordfish, both of which were excellent. Our drinks were prepared to perfection and our waitress was very attentive without being overbearing. A great experience all around!
It was wonderful as always! Lee was our server - excellent, kind, & professional. Thank you for a great lunch experience with special guests!
The beautiful restaurant juts out overlooking the Potomac River. In the distance while dining, we could see the capital and boats docking. It was lovely. We had the crab dip which was outstanding and I would highly recommend the shrimp and scallop entrée. Yes, we will be returning, I hope soon.
Chart House was highly recommended to me. I decided to give it a try since we both have never been there. Why not surprised my husband for his birthday. Food and drinks were great. I was expecting a little more of an intimate dinner with a water view. The restaurant was very busy and a lot noisier than I expected. Overall I would definitely dine there again with the family!
The food and ambiance were great but the service was very poor. We made three request for the items and she forgot each one of them. She also did not check back to see if we needed anything. Last we told her that we had a show and was in somewhat of a rush, and after finishing our meal, it took a while to get our check because she did not check in on us.
Great service, timely, attentive service and delicious!
Awful service from the moment you arrive to exit. Also the food is very blah.. really blah.
Sunday brunch was excellent. Seated immediately for an 11:15 reservation at the window. Best salad bar with so many selections. Ordered prime rib as my brunch entree and it was delish.
Wait staff were very attentive.
Really enjoyed watching the boat tours, water taxi departures, arrivals, the parade of dogs, families with strollers, sunshine and everything the floor to ceiling windows offered. Next time we will sit outside on the deck. Wonderful Sunday brunch.
I took my fiance for her birthday to the chart house, We have never been before I always heard a hype about this place so I decide to go there for a nice dinner. We order the calamari(flavorless) my fiance had the stuffed shrimp with orzo(orzo over cooked shrimp no flavor) I had the snapper Hemingway and also had no flavor at all. The rice was actually good. The presentation was from like the 90's and both out apps and entree hit the table at the same time. The drink were awesome and the service was great. Hilton did an amazing job. It was way to pricey for the lack of flavor. There are better restaurants around the area with delicious food and not as pricey.
I will preface this review with an egregious error from our server. When we ordered our meal, she said that they had a chocolate lava cake that takes 40 minutes to make and that we would need to order it then. I (obviously) ordered it right away. Previously, we had informed her of our allergies (avocado for one person, peanuts and tree nuts for me), when the cake arrived at the end of the meal it was covered in nuts. In fact, all three desserts and the "birthday" dessert were all covered in nuts. This dinner was to celebrate three birthdays, including my own, and I could not partake in anything - including the dessert I ordered at the beginning of the meal. Our waitress did not bring the dessert to the table and did not come back to check on us for another 20 minutes so by the time she came back there was no chance of getting another one. It was very disappointing and ruined the overall experience for me.
That said, she was very kind and the food was alright. The Baked Stuffed Shrimp was excellent and the Alaskan King Crab was very good. The Baked Stuffed Flounder was bland. Definitely try the Kimchi Calamari - even if you don't like kimchi.
The food was average; the service was very good. The only reason to eat there is to enjoy sitting outside on the deck by the river. . My experience is that the Landry restaurants I have sampled have significantly god down in the quality of food— grossly overpriced 1789 based on one visit, now overpriced Chart House and Clyde’s.
Smooth and flawless
The wait staff was amazing! The food was really great. 6 adults and 2 children, we all really enjoyed our meals!
We received excellent service from our server, Dora. Food was fantastic. The view was gorgeous. I highly recommend!
Dinner with wife
The salmon was very fresh and baked perfectly The service was efficient and our food came in a timely manner. When visiting old town Alexandria I would definitely return
I'm from out of town and when we got there We very much wanted to sit outside on their very pretty deck overlooking the water -- they graciously accommodated us. The food was OK the view wonderful!
Nice quiet lunch date. The food and wine were excellent. Please thank Jamal for a lovely afternoon.
Excellent view; food is awesome.
Our waiter, Hilton was very friendly and informative. The view is unbeatable and the food awesome.
An amazing restaurant, fabulous view, wonderful food and service. This is a special place we dine at when we want a relaxing evening.
The Chart House in Old Town Alexandria, VA is and has been our go to for major celebrations. We love the food and if we always try to get a seat by the window which makes the celebration even better! We only go here for major celebrations because it's expensive. The food is delicious and their salad bar is one of the best we've ever had. You won't be disappointed!
