A pleasure to dine at Charrua. Excellent food, friendly service, nice atmosphere.
The food left everything to be desired. The ambiance was so nice, the Uruguayan wine was delicious, but the food utterly ruined everything that was positive.
Great experience. Food is awesome
This place needs better service.
Atmosphere was really cute but the food was just ok. Happy hour all night is a nice touch. I would definitely come back for drinks and apps but maybe not dinner.
Great food, had the chimichurri steak and wine. Cozy location.
Love the atmosphere and space of the restaurant. The owners are wonderful, food is great!
Atmosphere was very relaxing, me and my fiancé loved the food! Definitely will come back
We were called on July 3rd informing us they were opening later than normal that was fine so we made reservations for five on July 4th. When we arrive arrived the restaurant was totally dark and obviously not open for business. The door was left open and we announced that we were there. The smell on the restaurant and the and the decor with the furnishings made us not want to eat there immediately. So I called the phone number after waiting 2 minutes inside the restaurant with no one attending me. Gentleman came out and answer the phone while we were outside so we stepped inside and he informed us that they won't be open for another 30 minutes which at that point would have been close to 6 p.m. My wife who is from Uruguay was appalled and embarrassed that a restaurant could be so poorly run and be so poorly maintained. I wasn't able to eat the food so I cant rate it and the noise level is inconsequential because I never sat down to eat. So we went to another restaurant down by Battery Park had wonderful Pizza in a clean inattentive restaurant and would never recommend this dining experience to my worst enemy. Good luck and God bless.
Delicious food, AMAZING live music, wonderful service, cannot wait to return
Had 3different servers
The first was very quick and attentive compared to the others yet service time on 1 app and our entrees too a long time.
The steak came out a bit burned but everything else from sampler was good.
On the plus note buy a sangria you get one free 👍🏾
Food was pretty solid, especially for the price. Service was slow and not great, food took for ever and there was a bit of a language barrier. Ambiance and decor were nothing special. In all, it's a decent neighborhood spot for casual dinner plans, but nothing to go out of your way for.
Perfect everything was great from drinks to appetizers to entrees
This was excellent. Will definitely be back. Steak excellent. Service excellent. Wine excellent. Great location. Fabulous in the spring.
Although I am not fond of the neighborhood I liked the restaurant a lot! Everything was good but what stood out were the 2 appetizers (sausage and prosciutto/burrata) as well as the Sangria and the uruguayan beer (Patricia).
the rib eye was the best I've had in years. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful
IT WAS NICE, ATOMSPHERE WAS NEUTRAL BUT UNLESS YOUR A LOCAL, YOU DONT REALLY GET THAT WELCOMING VIBE. I WALKED IN WANTED TO TRY SOMETHING NEW AND DIDN'T REALLY GET THAT WELCOMING VIBE. THE OWNER THOUGHT WE WERE LOST SMH BUT THE FOOD WAS GOOD.
Fun spot. But food takes forever
Tasty food and good service. Steak and chimichurri was made well. Wine selection was poor - tried a bottle of one of the worst ones I’ve had.
The food was fantastic. The service was great. Very local atmosphere which I love being a Queens girl myself. Bottomless brunch was a huge plus! $16 for 2 hours was all we needed
Nettes Restaurant, die Kellner sind aber etwas langsam. Unser Essen war leider teilweise kalt.
Food and drink was great! Would definitely come back and would like to try dinner. We had brunch and got the sampler, everything was fresh tasting and delicious!
Service was pretty slow and the food was just ok. I was expecting more from the reviews.
Great food great prices
We were surprised (and a little worried) when we arrived and we had the place to ourselves! But the food was delicious and we enjoyed our pitcher of sangria! The skirt steak, empanadas, croquettes and morcilla were all delicious. Id recommend this place to anyone looking for a great value.
Delicious food, nice wine
Came in exactly at 5 so we were the first ones there. The waiter was polite and took our order quickly. We ordered the El canadiense sandwich, el choripan, calamari and flan for dessert. The calamari and salad came out on time but our main dishes didn’t come out until 6:05. Mind you we came in exactly at 5 and took about 5 minutes to order. Food was okay, waiter was nice and value was appropriate. Would I go out of my way to go back? Probably not.
Celebrated a graduation here. Very tasty empanadas and skirt steak but especially la morcilla. Have already recommended La Charrua to co-workers and friends. Definite try the sangria.
Great atmosphere, try all the appetizers in the menu and the amazing south American wines.
Horrible place, over cooked meals with old oil, service was terrible.
Empty place 4 guests and took the guy 45 minutes to take the order.... never coming back nothing to remember about this place
The appetizers were tasty; we ordered the chorizo, cheese fondue, empanadas, and croquettes. It took a long time for the appetizers and the subsequent meal to arrive. The waiter did not come by to check on us throughout our meal.
Fantastic service and amazing food. 5 stars!!
The services is too slow by two tables in the restaurant, the food menu is very simple, (no options); Not waste your money and time.
Un servicio muy lento, menú súper reducido, y la porción de carne es inaceptable, no se los recomiendo bajo ninguna circunstancia; existen otras opciones para disfrutar una buena comida Uruguaya por la mitad de los precios de “Charrua”.
Good authentic Uruguayan case
Get here early before the soccer game nights cause the kitchen to run out of flank steak for CHIVITO which is why I dropped in near Alphabet City
Great service and a great boozy brunch deal. We asked the server if he could leave a carafe of sangria at our table (to help us drink faster) and they did, which was really convenient. It’s not very busy so you can easily walk in to get a table without a reservation. The fact that it’s less crowded makes it great for catching up with friends because it’s quieter inside, unlike some other brunch spots where you have to yell over the noise and music. Food was delicious. I will be back!
Nice place in downtown Manhattan to celebrate Uruaguayan culture, cuisine and customs.
I loved this place! Went there on my own and got a chance to talk to the servers. They were friendly and attentive. The food was delicious. I had the Picada Charrua which is their sampler platter and so I had the chance to try a few things. I loved the empanadas and the chimichurri with the steak. I will definitely come back and recommend it to my friends!
