Hostess was delightful lady. Showed us our options and was so friendly. Oysters were good. Raw better than charbroiled because of breading. Steak cooked perfectly, potatoes excellent, crab topping too salty to eat. Definitely going there again

My only negative review is how long it took for us to get our entrees. The starters came out in a decent amount of time. However, we sat for an hour waiting for our main dishes. Aside from the that the staff was very friendly, the food was delicious, and their drinks were good.

I ordered Medium Rare but got medium and the cap of my ribeye was crunchy and well done. I’m guessing the steaks are reversed seared, because the steak had a nice crust, but mine was seared too toooo long. Ordered sautéed mushrooms, but the waiter (Roy) came back and stated that they were out. French onion soup and Burbon Smash was very good. Never got checked on to get drinks refill. I guess because a party of 7 came in 15 minutes after us and the tip would be more. I counted 4 times our waiter checked on and refilled their wine glasses and tea. Will not be back and we love steak and tip very well.

The spinach dip was delicious. Husband ordered the filet and I chose steak fritte. Both were tough and stringy. It was our anniversary celebration and we were most disappointed.

Oysters Rockefeller were divine. Ordered the Steak and Frites. Ordered the steak medium. Steak came to the table well done. Looked like it had been burnt. It was so “done” it was hard to cut with the steak knife. They did cook me another one. This one was much better, but my husband was done eating before it came to the table. Sat outside and about halfway through our meal a bar just behind the restaurant started with its very loud music. Just wouldn’t sit outside again, unless you’re looking for that vibe. My husband had the “Smoking Gun” cocktail, kind of a play on an old fashioned. He was very impressed with it. Server was great. Very attentive. I would go back, just for the oysters Rockefeller.

We went for dinner on Saturday night (18th Feb). This place has no atmosphere, the food is a little bland and average at best, we both ordered the fillet mignon medium and mine was cooked under and my husband's was cooked over and very flavorless. Plus the service was not up to scratch. One person took our order, another person brought it to the table, then the original server came back when we were literally taking the first bite to ask if it was ok! We then we had to flag down someone else to ask for a drinks refill. This place is totally overpriced for what it serves, we will definitely not be returning.

It was our first time visiting Ocean Springs, MS and we wanted to dine at a nice restaurant on our last night. Reviews for Charred were very good, so we booked a table. We had a big lunch, so we ended up getting a glass of wine and appetizers which included the blackened crab claws and broiled oysters. Both dishes were delicious! I particularly liked that the oysters weren't swimming in butter and cheese. We should have ordered another! We did get the most amazing chocolate dessert! OH and our waitress was super nice and accommodating. We will return if we ever visit Ocean Springs again :)

We were the only ones there. 8pm reservation and closed at 9pm although we did not realize that when making reservation. We felt a bit rushed, so we only had raw oyster appetizer and drinks. Oyster were big and delicious though.

We only had to wait a few minutes for our reservation time but waited much longer to be greeted by a server. The drinks were really good as was the food but the grilled oysters (cold) were just okay...and I love oysters. The main dish and server made the experience better.

The drinks and service were great. I was sad they were out of the mussels and wasn’t told to ordering. Also I wish they had smaller than 8 oz. But delicious steak. Wish oysters were more buttery and at least had a little bread. Wished side salads were included with meal too. Javana was a sweetie and gave the birthday girl a yummy lemon blueberry cake.

Our server was very good. The ambiance of the dining area would have been really nice were it not for the kitchen help coming through having loud conversations with one another and stopping to have phone conversations in the dining room. The food was average and not worth the cost.

Many restaurants in Ocean Springs are closed on Monday night so we ended up at Charred. Our server was great but the dinner was off to a poor start when they were out of the only Cabernet they served by the glass. Instead of offering to open a bottle they offered a Pinot Noir or a blend. My husband dislikes Pinot so he chose the blend. At that point if we had options we would have left. Fortunately the food was good & the chef was flexible when we asked for substitutions. The Amber Jack was the highlight of the dinner. The Caesar salad was average at best. The service was excellent & the food good but the wine service was a huge disappointment.

Local group for birthday dinner. We listed the special occasion in our reservation and the birthday was discussed when we were seated by our hostess. We arrived at 6:30 pm, our order was entered at 7:20 pm. We went inside 3 different times to request service (drinks, refills, and for our order to be taken). At each time, our waiter, Dawson, was no where to be seen and other servers assisted us. Also, there were numerous empty tables throughout the restaurant. We also had to ask that our dinner be brought out following being told our food was “in the window” 14 minutes earlier. Due to the amount of time that it took to receive service and our food, members of our party told staff they were no longer willing to wait and left. Their orders were taken off the bill. When our orders arrived, multiple plates arrived very hot and we perceive that they sat under a hot plate for some time. The server used a cloth to protect their hands when they brought out the plates. When bills were brought out, 100% of the charges for the meals and drinks and 20% gratuity was applied to all checks. The chef stated that 18% gratuity was applied for all groups over six people and they were unsure why 20% was added. When gratuity was discussed, the chef refunded the charges for the gratuity. The waiter never apologized for their behavior nor the customers’ concerns. When the birthday special occasion was discussed, staff acknowledged that they did not provide the typical special occasion accommodations and offered to do those after all guests had left the restaurant. Obviously, at that time it was not appropriate and accommodations were not given. We have had many positive experiences with this restaurant, but unfortunately this birthday celebration was FAR from positive.

We ate at Charred during a family trip. We made reservations days in advance. However, the restaurant did not have our table available for 25 minutes after the reserved time. Instead of apologizing or offering us drinks while we waited, the hostess and manager rudely told us there was nothing they could do. Once we were finally seated in the loud, generically decorated dining room, our server was inattentive and unfriendly. The food was fine, nothing more. We all had different steaks and sides. The steaks needed seasoning, and my filet was overcooked. Nothing merits praise. Charred's prices are excessive for the quality of food served and for the overall lackluster experience. They charge Ruth's Chris prices for food and service that are not even in the same universe. (They only had one old world red wine on the menu.) This is middling steak restaurant masquerading as a fine dining establishment. This was the only disappointing meal we had in Ocean Springs all week. Do yourself a favor and skip it!
