Charlie was a sinner. Ratings and Reviews
Table was tiny for two given that the menu is all small plates. Not enough room for several plates, water, cocktails, and silverware. Tables were also very close together so it seems like everyone around you is listening to your conversation.
These menu items were delish:
-Moroccan Spinach Bakoula
This was just ok:
-Spring Mu-Shu Tofu
The hostess was fabulous, the place was fun, the food was really excellent, it was exciting and the only two drawbacks was that there was only two bathrooms and there was a long wait, and only one waitress, and I had to tell the hostess that I was under a time deadline. But then after that everything was fine. Really delicious was the gnocchi, and the homemade Ramen noodle gluten free soup...
This was our second visit, and we took my parents for the first time. They had an awesome time. All of the good pretty much as a hit. We tried pretty much one of everything. The roasted peppers, gnocchi, and artichoke were particularly enjoyable. The only miss was the ramen. Cocktails were also delicious. Fun time for sure.
Honestly the place is great, but we had tbe worse waitress. She was not worried a out serving anyone but herself. She completely forgot our order after 30 minutes and after asked she blamed it on the bar tender that was working hard. The place is great but if your waitress sucks get out immediately because she can't help it and you are in for a terrible experience. Or just ask for another waitress/waitor
The food was absolutely delicious. This place is great for special occasions, I recommend to make a reservation well in advance, especially if you're planning to go on a Friday or Saturday. The service was OK but there's a lot of room for improvement. I understand the restaurant was full, but service felt very rushed. It didn't feel genuine either, it was like we were a bother of some sort. At one point we felt out of place, waiter made us feel like we didn't belong there. Funny feeling... That's the only thing I can criticize as negative. The food was excellent and the ambience was warm and inviting. The lighting was perfect.
The meal was INCREDIBLE! It is amazing, the flavor the chef can bring to a vegan dish. We were very, very impressed. There is a whiff of incense in the air that can sometimes affect the flavor of the food, but when our meal arrived, it seemed to have subsided.
The cocktails are unbelievable, too! Do yourself a favor and check this place out!
Great atmosphere, friendly staff, really good food. We drove in from NJ, about a 50 minute trip, on a recommendation and it was definitely worth the drive for fantastic vegan food. Although plates are small, which we already knew, the food is good and filling and the price is fair.
If you're looking for a place with vegan food and a great variety of drinks, we'd recommend this place.
They were burning incense in the restaurant. We left. Anyone who thinks it is a good idea to burn incense or scented candles where food is being served should NOT be in the restaurant business. We were there to smell and taste good food. Instead, we smelled incense, so we left and ate elsewhere.
Fantastic decor, hip vibe, and AMAZING cocktails. Delicious flavor profiles in vegan small plates. Located in a vibrant part of town. I was dining solo and the service was great. I did not feel rushed, despite the small space, which I definitely appreciate. Will definitely return when in town for business.
I had my birthday dinner here on Thursday with 5 family members. We had a lovely time, and really enjoyed every single item we ordered. Particular highlights were the bucatini with meatballs, korean tempeh, and mu shu tofu. Everyone loved sharing the food. As always, when I am here, I can't wait to return.
This was our 2nd visit, we were skeptical after our borderline average experience the last time. The artichoke and bao buns tasted amazing. The quantity of artichoke frites was not at all par with the price (3 medium and 2 tiny pieces). The tofu tacos had mild flavor but the veggies were all too raw to be enjoyed in a taco and the ramen was very bland. I have been to many vegan places with small plates setting and this place is still behind other competitors.
Any meal that starts with "Girl with a Grenade" has to be good; that's a smoked rosemary, whiskey, and pear cocktail. Our reaction inspired the table next to order one. Potato croquettes melted in our mouths, Shishito peppers ranged from mild to mad hot, Korean BBQ tofu was surprisingly authentic and had a great kick (to this gal, who's meh about tofu), and the ricotta dish was refreshing -- yes, vegan ricotta. My friend and I dined early and on a Tuesday evening, which I recommend: the long, narrow restaurant was quiet, our server attentive and funny but never intrusive, and we could gaze at the fun decor... like a bookcase that looked like it should lead to a downstairs speakeasy. All this without harming a single sentient being. I'll be back!
My friend and I were visiting Philly, when i came across this on my vegetarian search. Earlier, in August, I had eaten at Vedge and loved it. I now have 2 great vegan restaurants in Philly. The service was friendly and fast, seating and space was very limited- we felt we were packed like sardines, but it was a happy place. The food was incredible- we had the ricotta, the Eggplant Bao buns- delicious, the moroccan spinach dish-okay, the confit potato cup was amazing and the the blackberry mocktail was super.
You will not miss the meat here. Can't wait to go back
from st. Louis with love.
Always delightful and delicious. Celebrating an anniversary as our special occasion and we have to pick from several "go to" menu items. They are consistently very good with their food preparation and presentation. We tried a different "special" mixed drink and while it was good for us to experiment it was not for our taste; that's not a knock on how it was prepared. We like to eat earlier in the evening, before 6pm, because it can get loud in the intimate dining area. We'll be back.
