Charlie was a sinner.
Enjoyed as usual
Took a friend for Birthday Celebration. She is not a Vegan but she loved the place and everything about it. They even gave her a scoop on ice cream with birthday candle . The evening was GREAT!!!!!
The food was awesome, service was great, a little on the loud side. But I would definitely recommend and go back because of the food and service.
Outstanding vegan food.
Arrogant server food was just ok. Very loud and hot.
this is the best vegan restaurant I have been to!
So I took my Vegan friend out here knowing I don't eat vegetables. Like when I say I don't eat veggies I mean none nothing no not even salad not even soggy french fries. I am a super picky eater. However dinner with her was worth trying it for. Surprisingly I loved everything we ordered and the atmosphere was great. Plate size makes it great for drinks and conversation. For sure worth the money if you are trying to eat good food that can please even the pickiest eaters.
Had such a great time celebrating my fiancé’s birthday. Great food and great cocktails
Great food. Great service. Drinks are special. Cozy place to eat.
Excellent squash blossoms and you can't go wrong with the croquettes!
Fantastic experience. I’m going back as soon as I can. The food experience, the bartenders, Hosts were all extremely professional and energetic. I’m telling everyone!
This restaurant was delish! My only complaint was the service. We didn't know who our server was and it took the food quite a bit of time to come out. Even with that, overall, it was a great experience and the food was amazing! I would recommend this place to anyone!
My favorite vegan restaurant. It never disappoints and the cocktails are amazing
What a neat place! All of our food was delicious, the service was impeccable, and the drinks were fantastic. Unique, interesting, plant-based, and just amazing!
Charlie was a Sinner is a vegan high dining experience, without the price tag. The setting was lovely with an actual light candle and dim lighting. But with my boyfriend's food, allergies our food choices were limited, which is something we are completely used to. Upon tasting the food, we were a bit disappointed, the food was good, but not great enough to justify eating there again. Thanks for the amazing experience though.
My husband and I attended for our anniversary, and I can't express what a wonderful evening we had. The food was outstanding. My husband said it was his best meal since going vegan. We will definitely be coming back any time we're in Philly. The service was equally matched and we felt informed, helped, but not like someone was breathing down our neck. Absolute perfection on all counts. Made us "tapas style dining" believers!
I absolutely loved this restaurant/bar. All of the food and drinks were amazing!! As a vegan, this place had different cuisine than the usual vegan restaurants. Everything was top of the line. My husband, who is not a vegan, loved the food! Will definitely drive two hours to return for dinner a night.
Spent the evening there with a friend who was visiting Philly from out of town. We had a group of seven who had vegans and carnivores as well. Everything was delicious and the drinks were exceptional. My fave restaurant in the city!
Our server was very nice but drinks took forever when we sat down to order. Food came out first. My wife and I are not vegetarian/vegan but wanted to give it a shot. We ordered 6 dishes in total which 2 were memorable. 2 of them were totally inedible as they were loaded with salt.
My Partner is Vegan so we frequent this Restaurant on occasion when we are attending a performance at the Kimmel. Food is delicious to me, a non Vegan. Only problem is that they deliver the tapas/small plates
so quickly. You will be through six to eight small plates in an hour including cocktails and wine. I don't like that but I guess for a small restaurant with so few tables, they have to get diners in and out quickly to make a profit. It is great if you are looking for Vegan Options and are in the area.
Tapas. Oftentimes a vegetarian's nightmare. Not so at Charlie was a sinner. 100% vegan. My wife and I, in town for Father John Misty, wanted a nice meal and this restaurant delivered. We started with excellent cocktails, then shared 5 plates. After finishing those (which had been brought out 1 or 2 at a time in 3 rounds) and 15 seconds of deliberation, we ordered another 2. We finished off the evening with some dessert. It was expensive, but every bite was magnificent. The staff was also exceptionally courteous and we never once had to ask for additional water - a jar (also filled with mint leaves) was monitored and refilled without fail. I HIGHLY recommend this spot.
One wacky thing - the place is hip as hell, and part of the lighting is provided by old movies projected on a curtain. Super cool, but the shadows created by this effect are certainly noticeable at first. Grab a second drink and keep eating - you won't notice it anymore.
I’ve been to Charlie was a Sinner before a couple of years ago and it was pretty good. This time it was darker (or so it seemed) but the food was fantastic! We had two different kinds of sliders, the potato croquettes, the bao buns and meatballs with ricotta. Each dish was fun and flavorful and were we not stuffed there were other small plates that we would have liked to try. And all plant-based. It is a vegan paradise. Go and enjoy the food ... it wasn’t so dark that we couldn’t see what we were eating. Your eyes will adjust!
This place was awesome. I'm not Vegan and I thought the food was awesome. Great drinks and mocktails too.
I recommend the Charlie’s sliders and the “done and dusted” cocktail for after dinner
Wonderful service, great food, fun atmosphere! Super loud, though.
Love that they serve vegan dishes in a cocktail-bar atmosphere. Really happy with the service.
The food was, literally, hit or miss.
We ordered four plates and two were amazing. The sliders and the Korean tofu. Those two were a seriously phenomenal and would compete with any other vegan restaurant I’ve visited.
The other two were just plain and simple. Cauliflower steak and ramen. It felt like they just didn’t put much effort into making them unique or putting a spin on the dish at all. Meh.
Great vegan restaurant. Staff was friendly and courteous. Allowed us to be seated with two people in our party running late. Not a huge fan of small plates or vegan food but everyone had a great time and did not leave hungry. Recommend even if vegan isn't your thing.
Excellent dishes with fresh healthy ingredients! Fun atmosphere!!!
Never a disappointment with the food and service. A few dishes and a couple of drinks made for a nice Friday night.
Food was delicious! The service was attentive and knowledgeable. The restaurant was a bit noisy and dark. I was also surprised that I could not take advantage of the happy hour specials, unless I was seated at the very front of the restaurant or at the bar. Those small things aside, the food and waitstaff at Charlie was a sinner was excellent!
This isn't the typical vegan restaurant - you'll love every bite. small portions but still a great dining experience.
Awesome food. great atmosphere and would definitely recommend it to everyone.
We love this restaurant and visit every few months. The service this time around was subpar: they couldn’t find our reservation, we were seated and then forgotten about, our drinks took a while to come out and it took even longer for our first course to come. Service was slow and then very rushed. I’m hoping this was a fluke, it’s a great restaurant.
Loved the speakeasy feel, the fabulous food, great service, and not least of all the incredible cocktails. We loved the Cliffs of Mohr and the penicillin...overall amazing, we will definitely retirn
Charlie may have been a sinner, but the staff were saints. A great place to celebrate, with great food and attentive service. They have food to satisfy all pallets- bring all the people you want to impress.
Awesome!!! Food and service was amazing. Can’t wait to go back!
This was a wonderful find in Philadelphia. Was looking for a vegetarian restaurant to enjoy dinner prior to a show at the Academy of Music. The atmosphere was cozy, the food was spectacular and our server was informative and attentive.
Very nice food. Everything was fresh.
