Food was amazing but service was terrible. we got food appetizer before our drinks. I had to ask. Waiter was not familiar with details of menu. The food was amazing but was not worth the price due to the poor service. Disappointing
I have been to Charlie's in Orange County, CA and Dallas and both were awesome. I loved the sauted foie gras, but they didn't have it on the menu here. The NY Strip was good, but not great because it lacked flavor. Service was very good, but the waiter was a bit chatty and I was trying to catch up with someone, so didn't need to hear about his trips to the theatre. The creamed spinach was very good. Cheese cake was good. Given how much I loved my other Charlie experiences I was a bit disappointed.
Mediocre all around
Prix Fixe meal was fair.
Don’t be distracted by the building construction on 42nd Street just adjacent to the entrance to Charlie Palmer Steak because that would be a mistake of great proportion. As you enter past the glass etched Charlie Palmer Steak you know you are in for an amazing dining experience. Conversed shortly with the most gracious host, Angela, and provided “required” COVID vaccination documents, decided on indoor dining for this occasion (outdoor dining was offered and the space was beautiful) and was escorted to an ideal indoor table, private, socially distanced…perfect. Then the dining service began….water (SARATOGA Sparkling - detest sparkling although LOVE SARATOGA), delicious hot bread/ butter all quietly served up by Jose as my guest and I caught-up after 2+ years. Raymond, our head server, assisted us with making the “best” dinner choices…French onion soup; salad w/ Gorgonzola; 22 ounce T-Bone (medium); Douraude (for this non-meat eater); and to balance out the meal…sautéed spinach, marinated mushrooms & a weakness , CP French Fries. The meal was superbly prepared, delivered hot to the table by a myriad of efficient yet unobtrusive servers all assisting Raymond. EVERY MORSEL OF EVERY DISH WAS ABSOLUTELY SCRUMPTIOUS! Forgot to mention the wine, Elk Cove Pinot Noir, also recommended by Raymond. Just before the wine was served who other than Charlie Palmer, to our utter surprise and delight, visits our table to personally extend his genuinely warm welcome. During the meal, we met the fashionably clad dining room
manager….there to ensure our dining experience was exceptional and it was indeed. Finished with a chocolate brownie and homemade chocolate ice cream, NY cheesecake (fresh strawberry compote on the side) and because I love cheesecake as well as carrot cake the dessert choice wasn’t easy. However, Raymond graciously provided the carrot cake along with a deliciously effervescent digestiv. AMAZING SERVICE, SCRUMPTIOUS MEAL, AND MEMORABLE experience.
From entry to exit, best waiter, best team and best chef
The best restaurant I’ve been to in New York City, hands down. The food was great, the drinks at the bar and the wine at the table were incredible, and the service was amazing. I will be coming back soon! Thank you for an amazing dining experience.

Very good steaks and seafood, excellent service, nice energy and ambiance. Good place before a Broadway show.
My husband and I decided on Charlie Palmer Steak last night during a night away in the city to see a Broadway show (without our toddlers!). Service was phenomenal- all of the servers and managers were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. Food was great as well. I had a NY strip with an added lobster tail, and my husband had the sirloin. Great night out for us!

The noise level in the dining room is too high . Music was loud and the bar crowd made it worst
Great service. A bit strange to charge 70 usd per person for a two pp steak.
Other than that it was a good experience.
Our server was amazing! They make the whole difference.
Went for pre-theatre dinner and the steak and salmon entrees were both very good. Service very attentive. Would have appreciated a lower music volume; it was likely turned up because the happy hour had been moved inside. A great choice for pre-theatre.
What a fantastic restaurant! I've been a huge Charlie Palmer fan since he began supporting the No Kid Hungry campaign years ago. I've eaten in his DC restaurant and in the predecessor at this location. I own all of his cookbooks and was delighted to see him the night I brought my guy. As always, the food was beautifully prepared to order and delicious. John's steak was a perfect rare! Every morsel was a taste delight! The wait staff present your dishes with all of the elegance fine dining deserves. The ambiance was energetic and the service superior. Every time I'm in town for the theater, I'll return!
It was a nice place. Service was great, but way too expensive for what we had. $420 for two people and the ribeye did not come as ordered. Too expensive for that. Not worth it.
Excellent: food, service, staff.
Belated anniversary dinner and a show. Prix fixe, added on the fish collars and cheeks for an experience. Golden brown and delicious. The steak frites were perfectly done. CP fries not my fave but didn’t suck. Anniversary desert definitely the highlight of the night. Thanks David and team for a great evening.

I would happily go back. An ideal place for a pre-theater dinner.
One of the top resultants. Charlie Palmer himself came out and served our entrees!

Not great. Food very average. We won’t be back.
We had a 9pm booking, which is their last seating. We got in at 9 sharp. It would have been a great dinner had the entire staff not told us repeatedly that they were almost closing and rushed us to order and to eat. It is fine to delicately mention it to guests if they are late or taking time to order but we were not even seated and they were rushing us already. Too bad.
Awesome. We went before going to a Broadway show. Food was terrific & ambiance same. Actually got to meet Charlie Palmer which was a great surprise. Raymond, our waiter was super!!! Thanks for a epic evening

Raymond was our server and he was wonderful. Hope we get him again.
The overall experience was wonderful!
Our server, David, was so kind, helpful and informative; his drink and food recommendations were perfect and he really provide great customer service.
Also, the restaurant manager really made it an amazing night as well. He really went above and beyond making sure my friend and I really enjoyed ourselves to the fullest.
All around 10/10 service — definitely will have to stop by again whenever I’m in the city.
My wife and I were celebrating our 1st Anniversary at the restaurant and overall we had a great time. We ordered
Entire staff was great. Friendly and knew their product. Steak was perfect! Menu is well rounded and fairly priced.
Food was mediocre. Good but slow service
The service and ambiance of the restaurant were great. The food, however, was just average in my opinion. We had steak that was tough and did not have much flavor. Sides were ok. Salads were good.
Muy malo el servicio
El pan de la hamburguesa estaba horrible
Tried this steak house on a Groupon , figured to give business to the restaurants that were hit hard during Covid in NYC. The steak was mediocre at best for a steak house in the city and the service was functional, nothing to rave about.
Terrific place, great food. wonderful service. Great steak deal. We will be back.
This was a moderately priced steakhouse compared to all the ones I looked up. The steak was definitely worth the $60. I guess the potato was a little strange and not really worth the $13 charge for a single potato but I get it we’re ok NYC. It at least looked cool sliced into four slices with sour cream on top. Overall it was great and so was the service.
Excellent food, efficient service, nice ambiance.
Amazing service along with excellent food. Each course was done with such care and flavor.
We went to Carlie Palmer Steak House to eat a Porterhouse steak. Sad to say, the steak was almost impossible to eat--it was mostly fat and gristle. Every other food we had there was delicious--the oysters, wedge salad, spinach, fried potatoes and cheesecake were outstanding. The wine was good and the service was excellent. We have eaten the Porterhouse at 4 other steak houses and only the bone is left! At CPSH, more than two thirds was left as scrap!
This was our first time here and it won't be our last. Had a Living Social which offered a fabulous meal complete with two glasses of bubbly and a bottle of California Cab. It was my husband's birthday and they placed a tall sparkly candle in the center of the strawberry cheesecake which was a nice touch.
The meal was quite opulent, with Prosecco, oysters, salad, steak, fries, wine...but somehow the food was just not that great. And we got stuck over in a corner in the back, though the restaurant was nearly empty and we were quite reasonably dressed. The flickering colored lights were relentlessly annoying.
Definitely a good buy, with exceptional food and even better service.
Only criticism would be bathrooms were rather messy (& two were out of order) and the main course seemed to take a fairly long time after first course. But food was excellent and service was great.
Good service and very good food. At first, the staff felt dismissive but then warmed up and were much more engaged. Very good food which was prepared perfectly!
