Charlie Palmer Steak Ratings and Reviews
Generally the service was a little bit slow. Also, it was a birthday celebration. I mentioned that during the reservation, but did not receive any greetings for the special event like some other restaurants. I know it is not a must, but if for an good restaurant, it will be different. The food was just fair for a steakhouse.
Celebrated our 25th Anniversary in NYC the weekend after Thanksgiving 2017. The service was fantastic and the food was delish. What made the evening notable was the manager sent out a special dessert with a candle and 2 glasses of moscato. The celebration didn’t stop there. He knew we were going to continue our celebration at the Spyglass rooftop bar, so he followed us up later and had our bartender wish us a Happy Anniversary and took care of our bill. The manager didn’t have to do any of this-we were just a couple from Ohio. I can definitely say that this Ohio couple will return the next time we are in the Big Apple. Charlie Palmer far exceeded our expecatations. Our greatest appreciation for making this an evening to remember.
1. The hostesses were pleasant and friendly, they had accommodate me with the changes made to my reservation.
2. I was placed in a forgotten area of the restaurant.
3. The food was not as I expected it to taste, not a wide of variety to choose from for thanksgiving.
4 The server quickly placed the food down and disappeared never informed the waiter that f my requests.
5 Dessert was then served without asking me if I wanted anything else, again I asked for coffee could not tell you how long I had to wait for it and could not get the attention of my waiter until the hostess was seating someone ,she then informed the waiter of my needs
I informed him of my experience.
While staying at the Archer Hotel, we dined here each morning for breakfast and found the food to be excellent but the service and ambiance woefully lacking. For the most part, the staff is very subdued and unresponsive, though there were a few standouts who made us feel welcome. The space itself is very blue and very bland, not an especially interesting palette to work with and nowhere near as nice as Fabrick, the former restaurant. Prices are reasonable - especially for good food - but we'll look elsewhere on our next visit.
I went to this place because I am a fan of Charlie Palmer and the steakhouse experience. This place is a trainwreck. Not one item that was ordered by my partner was correct. Everything was sent back. The order was taken by the manager apparently because the wait staff was too busy to wait on us. I can only assume the kitchen pays no attention to special requests . Tough requests like butter and dressing on the side and no oil on mushroom . My meal the short ribs agnolotti was cold and tasteless maybe because you needed a microscope to find the shortrib. In the the end we had no idea who our waiter was. I should note the General Manager comped everything but by that time our night had been ruined
We let the restaurant know it was my youngest daughter's 16th birthday ahead of time. The waiter was awkward and really didn't know the details of the menu. He was more interested in trying to impress my 3 daughters. Solid fail.
for appetizers we each ordered The pasta of the day which was a Truffle fettuccine which was outstanding. Surprised to find out or was $45 a plate but still, it was exceptional and the highlight of the meal.
2 of us ordered the signature Bone-On Tomahawk for 2 while the 2 other entrees were the NY Strip & Filet. All were ordered medium rare. The tomahawk was basically raw, the filet was perfectly cooked and the NY Strip was over cooked. Of the two sides, one showed up towards the end of the meal and I finally cancelled the 2nd since we were essentially done with our dinner. No apology offered.
Awkward waiter aside, the meal was sub par. 4 appetizers, 4 entrees, 1 side for $645. A huge mistake and a total failure for my daughter's special night out.
We wanted a steak, but chose instead to order the pork chop and the veal chop. Both were prime, cooked perfectly, and very juicy and tender. They were also quite a bit cheaper than the steak. My husband said that it was one of the best pork chops he had ever had. The service was good but the prices are pretty high.
I love this venue - SpyGlass & Charlie Palmer's. W/r/t atmosphere, it's a little brighter (less intimate) than a few other well known venues nearby. The scotch list is short, but hey - these are so first-world problems! Just order one of their well constructed cocktails, a tomahawk, and ENJOY!! Go, go, go absolutely!
Was in New York on vacation from Ireland and I have to say this was the nicest steak I have ever had . Cooked to perfection and so tender , the service was great and the all round this restraunt delivered. Well worth the price and the side dishes were amazing .
I went for brunch. Erroneously thought that it was restaurant week for it. No matter. A steak and eggs meal for $21 seemed very reasonable for an upscale steakhouse. I normally don't like sirloin but this was very good along with the potatoes. There is a bottomless brunch also if you're interested for $38, food and drink. Overall pleased.
We were 5 for Restaurant Week and we ALL enjoyed our choices VERY MUCH. We all started with the chopped salad which is full of surprises--bacon is generously part of the salad--which we all LOVED. I chose the sliced sirloin steak which was filled with flavor and soft like butter. I asked to have mushrooms instead of the white potatoes and they were delicious. Everyone who had the sautéed potatoes were very happy with that choice. Then, we all chose the brownie with vanilla ice cream--I would've preferred chocolate but, I didn't ask in time. It was delicious anyway. We called over the Manager, Crystal, to assure her we were all MORE THAN HAPPY with our restaurant week choice. She told us they have a price fixed all year round which was not much more than the restaurant week price. We told her we liked it very much and would come and enjoy their price fixed another time. I find that Charlie Palmer gives a very nice lunch in all of his venues. In fact, I prefer his restaurants to those I'm not sure about. Thank you CHARLIE PALMER.
We took advantage of the Restaurant week menu, food was all very good, and we appreciated that they had some wines that were also on Restaurant week special (though we ended up ordering wine by the glass because of different preferences in our group). Service was more than attentive throughout the meal, until the bill came, then we had to wait 20 minutes before we could get someone to take our credit card. Would definitely go back, not just for Restaurant week special.
