Steak served too rare. Requested medium rare and came out raw
Great food and atmosphere. View of capitol building was a bonus!
The food was outstanding. From seafood appetizer to perfectly cooked steak to flavorful side dishes and a great cheesecake. Was upscale but casual with nice views of the Capitol. I will definitely return.
This was a great restaurant. Friend had fun for her birthday and the chef sent out some tastings and a cake to top it off. Will gladly recommend this restaurant to friends and will be dining there in the near future. Definitely 5 stars in my book
Very nice atmosphere for a quality meal. Steak was seasoned and cooked perfectly and was a premium choice and cut of beef. All servers and staff were experts and value each patron has a qulity dining experience. One of D.C's gems
Amazing ambiance, view of the Capitol right across the street. Steak was excellent, generous portions.
View of Capitol building from dining room was great! Porterhouse for 2 was awesome, black truffle gnocchi was nice option for a side. Cocktails and wine list did not disappoint. Great service, would revisit in a heartbeat.
Superb restaurant! Excellent quality. Great view of Capitol Building.
Shrimp cocktail and lobster entre were mushy. Tasted good but needed to be firmer especially for the price. Service was great.
I eat at a lot of steak houses around the country and the steak I had here falls dead last maybe behind Texas Roadhouse. Certainly not up there with the top steak houses. The people were great the quality of the food was lacking.
Great atmosphere and presentation of food overall was fantastic
Food was excellent and the view from the terrace is spectacular. Service was not on the level that you would expect for this caliber of restaurant. The sommelier was very unfamiliar with the wines on the menu and actually had to read the label at the table to tell us about it.
I was underwhelmed by Charlie Palmer. I went for a birthday celebration where multiple phone calls and confirmations were made regarding the birthday. The dessert didn’t arrive with a birthday message or candle as promised, and was brought out while half of the table were in the restroom.
The food was fine. Nothing was notable or unique. The entire table left feeling like there are better steakhouses in DC and likely wouldn’t return. For the price, I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant.
Food was very good. Service was lacking. Server was not prompt.
Wow! What a disappointing evening. The waitstaff was extremely inattentive. We were seated and never offered to place a drink order. When the waiter to come back to presumably take the meal order we asked for drinks and he seemed perturbed. It took us over 40 minutes to get a cocktail from the time we sat down. Then he tried to rush us again with an order so we couldn't even enjoy the cocktails. When we said we wanted to wait he once again got huffy and told us to make sure everyone closes the menu because he would not come back to us until he saw everyone's menu was closed and meaning that we were ready to place an order. Once we ordered the meal took another long time in between appetizers and entrees. Whenever I saw him to try to catch his attention he made sure not to see me. There was an event going on but there were plenty of tables that were empty in the dining room after 8pm when we were sitting there. After the entree dishes were cleared he immediately brought a complimentary anniversary cake that had been discussed with the maitre d' at the time of confirming the reservation that morning. However, it was one small cheesecake for 6 people. He never circled back to take a coffee or additional dessert order. When he did bother to swing by and I asked to order desserts once again he was seemed greatly inconvenienced. At no point in the evening did I see any managers or maitre d's walking in the area where we were and no one asked us how things were until we were getting our coats. Even at this point the maitre d offered to have us talk to the manager. After we waited (again) we then found out that he was busy giving a roof top tour to some VIP's. He did follow up with a phone call today and offered to comp us a dinner for 6 which is very nice. But after having spent so much money for little return I am questioning taking him up on the offer when there are so many better steak houses in town.
The food was good as you'd expect for the price, but the service was atrocious. We had to repeatedly wave down our server and he was neither helpful nor interested in service. To top things off the bathroom flooded (or something?) So we were sent on a journey to the basement to use the restrooms. Overall, not nearly worth the ~700 dollar tab for the table. Steaks were great, but there are many many great steakhouses for less that are far more attentive and enjoyable.
It was an excellent dinner with exceptional service.
Restaurant is beautiful, wait staff is very good but food is underwhelming and over priced. Not worth the money in our opinion.
There was a large party in the center of the dining room that was incredibly loud. We asked to me moved because we couldn’t even hear ourselves think. They moved us with no problem but the management really should’ve moved that entire party into one of the rooms because they were VERY loud and disturbing the entire dining room!
Very good steak dinner.
They did not have a lot of gluten free options. They had pasta but no gluten free, so my husband and I split the Surf and Turf-he ate the lobster and onion rings and I ate the filet. We ordered two sides to go with it-fries and Mac n’ cheese. My husband liked the lobster, onion rings and Mac n cheese but my filet was salty and over cooked (I ordered “medium” and it came out with no pink at all) and the fries were soggy, which I hate. Pretty expensive for what I got.
Excellent steak at about $120/peerson, all in -- including sides and oysters even though one ordered Wagyu and another the steak and lobster. Extremely attentive service -- when we bantered between ourselves about sharing limes, limes appeared without our asking in two minutes. Meat cooked perfectly.
Excellent experience for a wonderful evening of great food, wine and service. Special thank you to David P for his excellent service!
View of Capital was perfect!!! Steak was excellent and done to perfection. Service was exemplary...sommelier was super knowledgeable and professional. Will be back.
Lovely meal, especially the chilled lobster tail and wagyu steak. The. Steak was cooked closer to medium than medium rare but still outstanding. Beautiful seat at window with fabulous view, which was unfortunately right on top of heating vent. That distracted greatly from an otherwise wonderful meal.
Reliable steak house close to the Capitol. The service is outstanding; water and wine glasses were always refilled at just the right time. The wine list tends toward the pricey, even by steak house standards.
We ordered five drinks, and they were out of three of them, and the Grappa wine had about 2 oz left. They blamed the Youth March which is funny since they were underage and it ended four days prior. The manager brought me a drink on the house which is one that I specifically said I did not want. There was no finesse in the manager or the server, who was very good, but not for this kind of restaurant, and no one checked on us after all the problems. The last drink was not made correctly as well. The spinach side was cold but the rest of the food was very good.
We had the most amazing meal during our visit at this upscale restaurant on our recent vacation. Not only was the food excellent, but the staff was very professional and available whenever we needed them. The wine list was amazing and we enjoyed an excellent bottle of wine with our meal. We would highly recommend to our friends and hope to return the next time we are in DC.
I work near here, but had never been. We were craving a good steak and were very pleased with Charlie Palmer's. I had the petite filet (8 oz, not on the menu...the one on the menu is 11 oz which is more than I can handle) and my dining partner had the ribeye. Both steaks were well seasoned and cooked perfectly to our liking. For sides, we shared the creamed spinach, the truffle gnocchi and the wild mushrooms. All were delicious. Our server was attentive and helpful. We will definitely be back.
The Staff was great. They were very kind to my friends and I.
The food was amazing. Seriously, I will dream about the truffle twice baked potato. Sadly, we had some issues with waiter attentiveness. We ended up having a first waiter who passed us off to a second waiter. Neither provided us with quality service.
Charlie Palmer never disappoints. It is our go to place for a wonderful meal.
Wonderful food and service. This place can always be counted on for consistently exceed meals and service.
Server had zero personality and there was a mouse scurrying around the area where we were eating.
My meal took forever to come. Over an hour. And when it did, my fish was over cooked: dry and hard. Due to the delay it was too late to send it back. I’ve eaten here many times when the food and service were good. Not tonight.
This is close to the Capitol. Wonderful at night.
Very good food.
Delicious crab cakes. Mint julep was a winner. Always eat at Charlie Palmer when in DC.
