Charlie Palmer Steak - DC

We went for restaurant week, dinner was excellent! Service is always superb all around!
I dine with alumni friends, friends visiting out of town-business trip, birthday celebration, and this time a girlfriend who's husband transitioned. The food is outstanding, service awesome, and the view of the Capitol the best! The fish, steak, beef tip wonderful.
The staff never cleared plates in between courses.
Placing food down before clearing and setting the silverware down for the next course.
Other than that my friend and I had a lovely lunch.
The overall experience was GREAT but we had a few hiccups with with the wait staff understanding a couple of requests but the manager was on top of it and took care of the issues immediately. Would recommend Charlie Palmer to everyone.
Several of us ordered steaks at our business dinner and they were absolutely terrible. I have been there many times previously and had a great experience, so this was very disappointing. Excellent ambiance and wine list. But the quality of the steaks were absolutely awful. Something must be going on with the kitchen...
Service very slow and we don’t like to be rushed. Short ribs were tough and fatty even though I was assured they would be lean. $5 for coffee seems extravagant.
As always it was awesome. Upon arriving Rosie checked us in. She was very friendly and has awesome communication skills. The food was great. I had the opportunity to work with Lamar and Saige. They both had great recommendations and were very professional and genuine....kudos!
We went for dinner on a recent Saturday night to celebrate my wife's birthday, and we were blown away by the customer service. The server brought us complimentary champagne and a seafood appetizer, as well as a complimentary birthday dessert. The wines were excellent, and the quality of the steaks/sides was what I would expect of a top flight steakhouse. Every course was a winner. The restaurant's ambiance was also a welcome relief from the cacophony of the14th St/Logan scene. The tables are spaced far enough apart to provide some privacy, and the restaurant's layout and decor keep the ambient noise at a reasonable, welcoming level. Although we were initially skeptical about sitting at a table enclosed on two sides by glass walls on a bitter cold night, a heating vent running the length of the floor kept us plenty warm as we enjoyed an unobstructed Capitol view. Portions were generous -- no "small plates" marketing ploys here.
Waitstaff were attentive without rushing us through the meal, as is often done in Georgetown or 14th St. With small children at home, my wife and I rarely get to go out for dinner alone. Thank you, Charlie Palmer Steak, for making our first date night of 2019 one to remember!
Excellent Evening, awesome drinks.
We were immediately greeted by the assistant manager and welcomed...set the tone for an awesome evening. It was our anniversary and we got the royal treatment. Excellent time, awesome food, deserts were great. There was a couple guys eating two tables from us who were a bit loud...no big deal until the one started dropping big "F-bombs". It did not ruin or time... the place overcame that very easily! Thanks
I will be honest, I went specifically to pay big money (in my eyes) for a meal and try things I've always wanted to.
We went for an anniversary and it was a pretty perfect spot. Great view, nicely set up and very intimate.
Service was great, cocktail was really good, and good ambience.
I got the dry aged NYS, and was rather disappointed. I asked for medium and it came slightly more med/well but the char was almost inedible. It tasted like a regular steak that I left on a bit too long. I was expecting to taste the difference between a regular non aged steak to a dry aged steak but honestly, no difference at all.
The sides were okay, I didn't care for them but my gf loved hers, and her steak.
So half good half meh. I would consider going again but I would need to get all new items off the menu and make another decision from there.
We had a great time enjoying our 19th wedding anniversary
All was good except I had reservations and I was seated 31 min late, no a way to start dinner
Great dining experience! Will be back
Food was fantastic, but that's beside the point. Came here for a very special occasion and was treated like royalty. The service was excellent, and staff was eager to go out of their way to make my fiancé and I feel special. Would give the highest recommendation.
It must have been New Years Eve. Service was spotty. Steaks were undercooked, sent back while the veggies got cold. The steaks were returned to an adjacent table. The food was underwhelming and of course ridiculously expensive — lousy bread, bland tasteless salads served at room temp.. dessert of sorbets and custards was the best thing of the evening. Extremely disappointing.
Fantastic service with a great atmosphere. Large wine selection and a great Filet Mignon.
We enjoyed the tasting menu on New Year's Eve. It included rare treats with delicious food combinations and wine pairings. It was a great choice for the holiday and our birthday celebration. The service was definitely 5 star.
On top of the great food, our waiter Gustavo made for a great experience! Highly recommend the CP Bibb and the peanut butter terrine dessert.
I normally don’t do reviews because a majority of the time people are using the platform to complain about the slightest thing. I’ve periodically eaten at Charlie Palmers over the years and it has always been great but on this night I took my in-laws and they LOVED it. It was there first time and they enjoyed every minute. The food, service, and ambiance was outstanding. It was a great evening.
Charlie Palmer Steak DC is our go to place, in particular for Saturday evenings. The venue, the atmosphere, the food and, importantly, the service are what keep us coming back. We always visit the bar for cocktails and wine, and often prefer to linger there through our dinner because of the service. Lewis and Wilfredo are phenomenal bartenders and could not be more gracious, hospitable or better ambassadors for Charlie Palmer, providing the most excellent service. Make it a point to go!
Wagyu was ssinewy maybe a suggestion to cook more as I had medium rare.
Not worth the Money. We ate here about 10 years ago, and it was just not the same now. The steak was not the same, nor the presentation. The steak was not bad, but it was not a big deal, and definitely not worth the money. The restaurant may be good for those seeking to show off to a client, or some sort of other power trip, and also the fact that you see the Capital from the restaurants are the only things I see going for this place. When we ate here last, the steak was much better, as well as the presentation of the steak. When we ate here in 2008, they brought out the raw steaks, and presented them to you. Then, the entire steak came out on a sizzling plate, and it was all covered with butter. Them they took the steak away, sliced it up, and brought it back out, still basted in its juices and butter. That does not seem to be the case any more. This place is not worth it if you are just looking to eat a good quality steak.
Dinner was great, but kinda ruined when the waiter immediately opened the check folio after taking 2 steps from the table to see what tip he got because it was a table of 3 women. We are a group that tip well and it was kind of an insult.
We hosted our annual holiday tea reception at the Charlie Palmer lounge private room. Chef Mike’s hors d'oeuvres were made to perfection. Bartender Lamar and his team (Saige & Wilfredo) made our transition to the bar seamless. The cocktails are like dessert in a glass that keep you in delightful spirits. Thank you for having us in your restaurant!!!
A group of friends got together on Tuesday night to catch up at the bar. The bar tender (Lamar) was phenomenal! Best margaritas I've had in a while. We also got shrimp scampi which was delicious. Always a great time at CP's. Highly recommend!
Great place to have a business meal, a date or special occasion. We have tried the tuna tartare, french onion soup, jumbo shrimp ‘scampi’, and TSI-TSI-KI’s Guac. For dessert a vanilla scented cheesecake.
And if you come here... you must try the Salt River ‘Rita’ from Lamar! It’s fresh and it has a little kick to it. Don’t let it scare you. Just try it!!!
I ordered the lobster ravioli. It arrived at room temperature and was flavorless. Looked beautiful. Simply uninspired taste. The place felt disheveled instead of elegant. The wash room needed attention.
If you’re looking for a exquisite cocktails, professional social- scene, and a luxury atmosphere visit Charlie Palmer in DC. The captain of the bar Lamar Lusk has his special one-of-a-kind cocktails for you made to perfection.
We came to DC to celebrate a birthday and our anniversary. They sat us at a table next to the window with a stunning view of the Capitol building. It took a few minutes to get our drinks but I think that was due to the bar being busy. After that our appetizers and food came quickly and perfectly timed. Our server was so gracious and kind. He made it a memorable experience for us!!
The service was poor, especially for a restaurant that wasn’t full and had plenty of people working the floor. We sat at the table for 15-20 mins waiting for our drinks. Once we notified the host about it, the drinks had been sitting at the bar and weren’t delivered. Overall really slow service and unapologetic. The steaks were not cooked evenly and some parts were rare and others over cooked. Quality of the steak really wasn’t that impressive for a high end steakhouse.
The steaks were good but not great and at these prices they needed to be great.
Very noisy restaurant scene. We were seated near to the bar and that didn't help.
Wine menu is excellent and all American. Worth coming for that.
The service was excellent, attentive without being annoying.
Great food, perfect drinks and world glass service. Thanks Mike Irving for leading an outstanding crew!
We had bison lunch meeting and the steak salad was amazing. We always enjoy the food and atmosphere at Charlie Palmer steak in DC. Chef Mike does an amazing job with his team and Lamar’s bar team always delight us with crafty spirits! Thanks for having us!
Superior location and service.
Pricey for what you get. Food was good. Service was good.
What a disappointment! Work dinner with a colleague. The bread basket was filled with old, musty, dry bread. My starter of grilled octopus was fine. My guest's caesar salad had a parmesan cheese crisp that was anything but-hard as rubber marbles. Clearly made weeks ago and not stored properly. My main dish of chicken was not good. It tasted over cooked in the sous vide--dense and almost mealy. The leg meat was so sinew-y that I couldn't cut it. The deep fried batter was crisp but too much - it overwhelmed the dish as did the mashed potatoes. It is also enough food for at least 2 people. My guest's soup was fine. Service was attentive but rough-lots of interruptions while we were conversing. The location is fantastic and this place should really match it.
This is a wonderful restaurant in a spectacular location. At the time we visited, there was a three course $25 menu and a considerably more expensive a la carte menu and everything in between. I opted for something in the middle: a steak salad which was a made with beef filet done just as I'd ordered - it was delicious! Wonderful wine list, too. I highly recommended Charlie Palmer Steak D.C.! Gorgeous interior, too and professional staff!
It’s nice for a date night or birthday celebration. Great service.
Two of us enjoyed our steaks but other than that we were not impressed with our meal. There was a delay with our drinks they were very apologetic and took them off of the bill. The service was very friendly and they did try hard, but that can't make up for mediocre food at this price point. The ambiance was very sterile and and not inviting at all.
