Server had zero personality and there was a mouse scurrying around the area where we were eating.
My meal took forever to come. Over an hour. And when it did, my fish was over cooked: dry and hard. Due to the delay it was too late to send it back. I’ve eaten here many times when the food and service were good. Not tonight.
Delicious crab cakes. Mint julep was a winner. Always eat at Charlie Palmer when in DC.

Had a reservation for 4 - My VP and myself, with 2 of our customers. The 2 of us arrived early and sat at the bar. We sat for at least 5 minutes. When one of the bartenders made eye contact my VP made an expression with his hands like 'we are here'.
The bartender looked at him and said in a menacing tone 'you can do that all day & I will stand here all day'

Great Dining and Atmosphere
In terms of the positives, the restaurant space is lovely and the view of the capital is great. The service was truly outstanding--the staff were friendly, attentive and made us feel very comfortable. They had also had a wonderful wine list. Where I get stuck is that I would rate the food as "good." The steaks were cooked well, the sides tasted nice, the oysters were fresh and the hamachi crudo was creative, but missed the mark flavor wise. For three of us the meal cost $500 and I think that's just too much for "good" food. Unfortunately, the bang isn't worth the buck here, unless they elevate what comes out of the kitchen.

We had another wonderful experience at Charlie Palmer's. The food, the ambiance and the service were all exemplary. You can't beat the steaks, and the sides are amazing. Service has always been superb, from the Hostesses, to the Bartender to the Servers. A great place that shouldn't be missed.
The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. I spent a few hundred dollars and it was worth every penny!
Food is good but service tends to be below what you pay for. Service should be top notch and it simply isn’t. The dining room experience is fine, but not worth the high price you pay. I would go to Blue Duck Tavern or Capital Grille or Four Seasons over Charlie Palmer.
Know what you are going for - expensive steak dinner. The sides and appetizers are key. Delicious shellfish starters. Service is very good.

Unlikely that I would recommend this place. The servings were small and the lobster ravioli look like it came out of a can. The tuna tartare was good and the shrimp was okay but I make better. Not especially great for a $250 meal for two people. Value was low, food quality was average and the serving size was pathetic. Unlikely that I would go back and will recommend my friends not go there either.
Service was mediocre at best. They messed up my drink order, brought me the wrong food and left used/dirty plates in the table. Checked on me one time the entire meal. The $51 ribeye steak was salty and when it was seared it burnt portions of the outside making it taste gross. Not impressed at all.
Excellent choice when in DC for business. The new wine guy was very nice and accommodating in sharing his wine choices. Recommended a wine that I later found out a friend manages the vineyard. Morgan; excellent wine.

I am truly surprised that I have to give the food a 3 star this time. I have eaten here often and I will return. While the amuse bouche and seafood platter was very good I think there are better around the city. The real problem was that 2 of the steaks (both NY strips) were OVERLY salty, The third American Wagyu was not. The sides were excellent. When a manager checked with us we let him know and they graciously comped three desserts for us. A dessert wine was also comped. I do love this place. Next time I will ask to not have the steaks oversalted.
Charlie’s never disappoints. We had the Porterhouse for two and it was enough to feed an army and cooked to perfection. The wine was spot on and our sommelier was awesome. His recommendation was perfect and presentation flawless.
I initially thought this would be a nice place. The first problem is that there is no noise barrier between the 12 year olds at the bar and those trying to enjoy a nice meal. The hostess was nice and efficient, however, her perfume filled the air every time she walked by. At times my steak tasted more like Calvin Klein than beef. Many of the staff were dressed inappropriately. A gentleman, who appeared to be a wine steward, barely fit into his suit. The young lady who appeared to be running the front end of the house, had attire on that was unprofessional- normally not an issue, but the staff seemed to have no pride in themselves or the establishment- it was glaring. The soup tasted fine but someone forgot to tell the server, that lobster bisque is served hot. As for the steak, my filet was to be medium rare, however, it arrived resembling sushi. Inexcusable in a good steakhouse. I am a Chicago guy, used to classic steakhouses, like Gibson’s. This one was closer to Ponderosa than what I am accustomed to. A shame.. I won’t be back- They at least have to get the basics correct,
I had lunch here solo while at a conference in DC. I ordered the beet salad with grilled tuna. It was delicious and the tuna was cooked perfectly. I had also ordered a glass of wine, which unfortunately was not delivered until I had nearly finished my entree. The waitress kindly removed the charge from my bill and explained that they could not find the wine I had ordered, which resulted in the delay. She also brought a dessert to go with the wine, which was also wonderful. I sat near the window with a view of the Capital. I highly recommend this restaurant for both the food and the view!

Rarely does a restaurant come through on all counts. The friendliness of the staff matched the quality of our meals. Gustavo is an EXCELLENT waiter...the man is a PROFESSIONAL. And this place really comes through with their steaks! I can't tell you how many five star steakhouses I've eaten at that can't cook a better steak than I can. Charlie Palmer does. And boy do they.

A busy bar, and a beautiful space! We could see the lit up Capitol from our table. The service and amazing food (we had the filet and the truffle pasta dish and shared) completed our wonderful evening!

They recognized the event, sent special regards from the house and catered to us in every possible way. Service was impeccable and the food was perfection. It was a truly memorable evening and I am so grateful for the caring and attentive bar, wait and kitchen staff for setting the stage for a very elegant evening.
