Wow - Charlie Palmer Steak staff really pulled out all the stops for our special occasion celebration. They recognized the event, sent special regards from the house and catered to us in every possible way. Service was impeccable and the food was perfection. It was a truly memorable evening and I am so grateful for the caring and attentive bar, wait and kitchen staff for setting the stage for a very elegant evening.

So the three girls that are hosts really need to do a better job. The restaurant is completely empty or not as full, and plenty of good tables - and if they seat you against the wall - adjacent to the bar - it’s really noisy and they are trying to hide you. Then, if you ask for better seating, they’ll take you to a kid’s table - tiny - where all the waiters and walking through- no privacy or quiet conversation. I got a headache with so many people rushing past me. Had to ask twice for better seating! Ate here before; very respectful and good experience the first couple of time - came back with my wife. This place is trying to showcase - like NYC - but this ain’t a high end NYC - Restaurant. I average about $450 to $500 on a night out with my wife (special occasion: like valentine’s). The valentine’s meal was excellent. The chef - really personable and exceptional. And I have been to the very best places, globally and this place could be a very high end. I’m getting to the point again, chef is great, The servers are above average and even the manager recitifes an error. If Charlie, the owner is reading this post, your host girls need to wake up and treat all patrons with dignity and respect. First impressions is everything. They look cheap and fake. Many patrons will not come back - unless that is your intention of asking people not to come back. There are plenty of exceptional places in DC. The second table I rejected, an old lovey African American couple was seated, there. They looked distinguished, and the lady in her 60s, she was very dissatisfied with where they were seated. They asked to be moved. They moved them to the next table over. Need I say more?

Food was so-so. First item was burned and had an unusual taste. Second choice took forever to get. The service was nearly non-existent. Could never find the server to get sweetener or bread or a clean fork... etc. One visit was enough. I'll do Capitol Grille the next time.

First time visit to Charlie Palmer's and was overall pleased with our dinner. our steaks (all 6 filet mignons) were cooked to each of our specifications. The side dishes were way smaller portions that we expected, we thought they would be shared/family-style and our server never corrected us as we placed orders for 3 of them (for a table of 6), so when they came out, we were all a bit surprised and got about a tablespoons worth of each side. The sides are definitely one per person at a steep price of $12 on up. The salads are very good and could be split for 2 persons. The wine selection was very good as well. We would return in the future.

The steaks were exceptional, all 4 of us ordered the Filet- they were cooked to our specifications, we were all very pleased.
The Service was great. We never felt rushed and our waiter was attentive. This restaurant has become a favorite, we dine here each time we are in DC and we have never been disappointed!!

This was our second time at Charlie Palmers. The first was lunch years ago. The one issue I noticed is that parking is either sparse or well hidden. The curb opposite the restaurant is filled with permit only spots. There were 8 spots in front of the restaurant and another 8 behind it. We were lucky enough to get one behind it. Our reservation was through OpenTable and we were promptly seated. We are used to having a number of servers with specific duties, but it was confusing because two of them seemed to be the main waiter. On to the food: my wife ordered the green salad, bone-in ribeye and for dessert the peanut butter and chocolate dessert. I ordered the appetizer special, lobster bisque, the bone-in ribeye and a cheese course. I also had a perfectly balanced Old-fashioned, not too sweet and a glass of the mid-price Cabernet Sauvignon. My wife's salad was good but unremarkable. Her steak was cooked exactly to her preferred temp. She raved about the dessert--loved it! The lobster bisque was described better than it was executed. It had some crabmeat added, but the taste that was understated was--lobster. The steak was excellent and the complimentary Béarnaise sauce took it up an extra level. The cheese cart had a good number of choices and a plethora of condiments. All and all, we had a great date night and we will definitely be back.

The ambiance was nice. Great view of the US Capitol! The food was quite good, my coulotte steak was a little tough(maybe it's that cut?) all the sides were very tasty. Our waiter took awhile to get over to us, but once he did, the service was very good. They were out of the first bottle of wine we ordered, but the next one was very good. Everyone that works there seems very friendly. I'd be willing to go try it again to see how it was a second time before I made any hard decisions!

The American Wagyu Strip was absolutely fantastic, and the filet Minton was the largest and most tender filet I have ever had. It appeared to be almost 12 oz, and was cooked perfectly. The gnocchi side was better than any Italian restaurant I’ve been to, and the wine selection was diverse and impressive.
