Went here for a Saturday dinner with my daughter, service started out slow but then became great. Steak was amazing, but all the sides, etc were just ok. For the price, I would go to Rays the Steaks instead.
The ambiance was very relaxed and the waiters were knowledgeable and friendly. Food absolutely delicious and came pretty quickly.
Impeccable service, fresh seafood appetizers out of this world - the best anywhere, period. We always request a view of the Capitol Building, especially when bringing out of town guests. They have ALWAYS had it ready for us upon arrival, what a treat. If you are not in a steak mood, you MUST try the fettuccine with local little neck clams. A creation from the chef's childhood experiences - out of this world. I was so full by the time that the entree arrived, I could not eat as much as I would have liked. Let me tell you, the fettuccine was even better the next day. Thank you for the lovely experience. We look forward to our next opportunity to dine with Charlie Palmer Steak!

The restaurant is beautiful and could be an elegant dining experience, but there are problems. When we visited, the place was practically empty. Still we waited quite a bit for the waiter to arrive and when he did, he was brusque to the point of being rushed to take our order. My husband and I decided to share the crab cakes as an appetizer (without realizing they were the size of silver dollars). They were delivered on one plate, in front of my husband. When I asked how we were supposed to manage to eat them, the waiter asked "Oh, you want them plated separately in the kitchen?" As if it were our fault for not asking! (By the way, the burrata our guest ordered was a tasteless blob.) We ordered our steaks medium being assured they would be warm pink in the middle, which they were not. Each filet was supposed to come with Bearnaise sauce. With three people at the table we received two and I had to ask for the other one. The Baked Alaska has no relation to the real thing and the loud chit among the wait staff was annoying, destroying the atmosphere. With a bill of almost $500 (wine prices are astronomical) we deserved better service.

My husband and I dined at CPS on our most recent visit to Washington D.C. While the service and ambiance was excellent (wonderful view of the capital building), the food was certainly not memorable. Our grilled Spanish octopus was good. My filet mignon had a bit more taste than my husband's Kobe strip steak - the price did not reflect the quality of either steak - we were both thankful for the chimichurri sauce. The Brussel sprouts were large in size with a burnt exterior - nothing exciting here - they needed a sauce of some sort. Skip the pecan dessert at all costs - it was tasteless - it reminded me of desserts on a cruise ship - they look pretty, but they are not worth the calories.
We had an amazing dinner! George took such great care of us. Food was delicious and the service was outstanding.
The food was fantasti. Served perfectly cooked. Our waiter was great, however, disappeared a couple of times and we had to wait at times to get the entire group's order completed (8 of us), as he stepped away in the middle of taking our table's order to service another table and then returned.

I really want this restaurant to be better.
First - they ran out of the striped bass by 6pm.
Second - the steak I ordered came out very undercooked, practically raw. After sending it back to be cooked a little longer, the steak didn’t have any flavor. Doesn’t even taste like it had basic seasoning on it.
Third - we had asked twice for drink service and the wait staff kept forgetting to bring a steak knife.
By this point the wait staff had moved on to other tables and didn’t have any interest in catering to us. We waited more than 10 minutes for someone to come by and ask for the check.
The table next to us didn’t even see a waiter for drink orders for more than 15 minutes.
Please be better organized. No reason to drop more than $100 for dinner on this substandard experience.

They made our anniversary dinner extremely special. For example, they provided a complimentary seafood platter, glass of champagne, and special dessert with "Happy Anniversary" on it. They made our evening perfect and we can't thank them enough. Thank you!!!
This isn't the first visit to this restaurant and, as always, the food was superb. It was my son's 40th birthday celebration and the chef and staff treated it and us as the special occasion called for. My thanks to all staff who made for a wonderful evening.

Nice place, small portions, good food, great views, very expensive. I went there for a business lunch and the biggest thing it had going for it was location, there's not a lot in that neighborhood.
Favorite place for a steak in DC
Food was underwhelming for a place of its caliber, reputation, and price point. Crab bisque and dry-aged NY strip were both pedestrian. Decent, but didn't reach the heights that I assume the kitchen staff aspire to. Service was uneven. The hostess and the sommelier were outstanding (as was the wine rec); however, the servers were somewhat absent at the beginning, waiting around 10 minutes to return for a drink order after seating. Ambiance and vibe were great, but the meal itself was meh.
It was awful. I sat and waited at least 20 minutes before I could order my food. Didn’t get my beer until AFTER all of my food came. The food was horrible. The asparagus tasted really bland and pasty as well as the Lobster ravioli. I’m sure time and effort was put into making the dish. Just not flavor. Maybe I didn’t order the right thing. But my experience there was awful. Nice place to look at though. Maybe if I had of been old and white I would’ve been attended to more.
In all aspects, the food was over the top excellent. Service was not as good as a restaurant like this should be. Wait staff did not seem to have their act together. They could not answer questions about drink brands, waited too long to offer drink refills. Brought the second cocktail and then plunked the entree down.
I ordered an appetizer and salad which were brought to the table at the same time.

Small group for my daughter's fifth birthday. While the restaurant does not have a dedicated kid's menu, they were happy to prepare anything a kid would want, and my daughter was very pleased. The adults loved the drinks and the restaurant is beautiful, with breathtaking views of the Capitol. Staff was generous with amuse bouche, complimentary glasses of champagne, and super-attentive (but not obtrusive) service. Very pleased and will be back!
The food and service was excellent however the foie gras was a bit dry. The tomahawk ribeye is a must have.
It took about forty minutes to get cocktails after ordering. The server said - twice - that the bar was backed up but a wait of that long is unacceptable for this price point. Drinks should be the speediest to the table; do that and everything else can wait a bit. The bar area was full but the restaurant was at about 1/3 capacity, so I don’t get it.
I was not impressed at all. We went the day after valentine’s day and we were offered the valentine’s menu. Which had some decent options. I ordered a medium well steak that came out looking medium but in the center was more of a medium rare. My husband ordered a medium steak that came out rare. The waiter was nice, but the restaurant was also very loud. For the money we spent it would have been nice if our food was prepared to our specifications. I would recommend Mastro’s if you looking for a great steak in the city.
My wife and I ordered the Tomahawk Ribeye for 2. It was amazing. The service was great. Highly recommend.
I gotta say everything was perfect except for some of the drinks my girlfriend and I ordered and the service was ok, what I love most about this place was the food, it was EXCELLENT!!... it was a nice experience, I would recommend it
This was an amazing experience. My wife and I celebrated our 15 th anniversary David p was our server he went above and beyond and made our dining experience one of a kind. The food was exquisite and afterwards we was taken on a roof top tour by the manager.
Charlie Palmers is located in the heart beat of our nation and the rises to the occasion providing outstanding and the food is simply amazing
