GORGEOUS RESTARANT WITH A SPECTACULAR WINE CELLAR.VERY MODERN AND VERY NICE.THE ONLY THING WAS THAT THE SERVICE TOOK A LITTLE LONG BETWEEN COURSES BUT THEY TOLD US THAT THERE WAS TOO MANY CUSTOMERS.THE FOOD WAS EXCELLENT.
Food was mediocre. This place has gone downhill. Steak barely tasted like beef. Sides were just OK.
I truly cannot say enough about the extraordinary service and graciousness of the team here at Charlie Palmer Steak. We were celebrating my brother’s PhD graduation from Georgetown, but we aren’t the powerful lobbyists and legislators usually in this restaurant. Still we were greeted as VIPs and brought complimentary champagne and dessert. My brother felt so special, my parents were delighted, and the whole family had a happy time. It was extremely memorable. We can’t thank you enough!
Went to celebrate our engagement. Had a wonderful time. Food was amazing. And they set us up with champagne and dessert as well!!
The meal was delicious. The service was excellent. The ambiance was very comfortable and not noisy, and the experience was amazing. This is a definition of fine dining, and it is pricey. You won't be disappointed.
Good service and excellent food. The best part about this restaurant is that customers are allowed to bring one to two bottles of their own American wine to enjoy with no corkage fee. We still end up buying more from the restaurant, but it is nice to be allowed this benefit. Keep it up Charlie Palmer Steak!!
Food was good but the wait staff must have taken intermittent naps. It took four of us more than three hours to complete meal.
As always, Charlie Palmer does not disappoint. The food is excellent and we enjoy the separate sides as well as the generous portions. I had the filet mignon with the addition of foie gras and it was perfectly prepared and mouth-watering delicious. We always enjoy several courses with the appetizers being a favorite. The chef always has some classic as well as some unique offerings that are a delight to the eye and palate. We began with a chilled seafood platter that was fresh, delicious and again featured generous servings of oysters, crab, lobster.
The staff are exceptionally pleasant, courteous and more than competent. I always enjoy discussing wine and cocktail options as well. One of my very favorite restaurants in DC - or any city actually - and that is saying something as DC is a foodie paradise.
Overall a great experience. Hostess tried to persuade us to take table not in main dining room we had reservations
Mac and cheese was completely tasteless. Steak was good with apple horseradish sauce, but I ordered a medium rare and got medium-well (no pink). Bill wasn’t correct either. Not the kind of experience you expect from this level of steakhouse.
Great food, outstanding service and great ambiance. Everyone went above and beyond. Can’t wait to go back!
David our sever was excellent! Food was awesome! Very relaxing dinner.
We walked in and asked for a window seat and wait was only 5 mins . What a great view we had of down town .
Service was great and enjoyed it very well.
We dined there last weekend for my son's 20th birthday celebration. The service, wine, and food could not have been better. The staff went out of their way to ensure our dinner was extra special. I will certainly be back when I get back to Washington DC. 5 Stars!!!!
Excellent food, quality, and service. We dine here every time we're in town.
Perfectly cooked steak and a great drink selection.
And they test you like you are special. I want to spend EVERY birthday here!!
Food was good but our table did not receive much attention from the waitress
Service was very slow and our table felt forgotten. The Sommelier brought the wine we requested and then charged us for a more expensive bottle.
Over rated big time . Service was arrogant and slow . Servers were not attentive
This is a very good restaurant. The food, steak, was great. Our service was OK, not great or terrible. I think the waiter forgot to put in a few things in a timely manner. The beer selections are terrible. It was hot in the room.
The ambiance and meal was very good. Service was slower than I would expect. Waited 20 minutes to get a desert menu and then another 10 after desert to get the check. Waiter had a large table with 12 people that he was managing as well but for this upscale restaurant I would have expected better service.
What a magnificent property in a very special location!
Romantic date night. Nice place
I took my husband for his birthday and they gave us a great table with a great view. The food was amazing and the service was great.
I love Charlie Palmers but was extremely disappointed in the food this time. The steak tasted like it was boiled and had no char. The asparagus was way over cooked to the point it was mushy!! I spent 240.00 dollars for something I wouldn’t have spent 20.00 for. Charlie Palmers really let me down this time!!!
Steak served too rare. Requested medium rare and came out raw
Great food and atmosphere. View of capitol building was a bonus!
The food was outstanding. From seafood appetizer to perfectly cooked steak to flavorful side dishes and a great cheesecake. Was upscale but casual with nice views of the Capitol. I will definitely return.
This was a great restaurant. Friend had fun for her birthday and the chef sent out some tastings and a cake to top it off. Will gladly recommend this restaurant to friends and will be dining there in the near future. Definitely 5 stars in my book
Very nice atmosphere for a quality meal. Steak was seasoned and cooked perfectly and was a premium choice and cut of beef. All servers and staff were experts and value each patron has a qulity dining experience. One of D.C's gems
Amazing ambiance, view of the Capitol right across the street. Steak was excellent, generous portions.
View of Capitol building from dining room was great! Porterhouse for 2 was awesome, black truffle gnocchi was nice option for a side. Cocktails and wine list did not disappoint. Great service, would revisit in a heartbeat.
Superb restaurant! Excellent quality. Great view of Capitol Building.
Shrimp cocktail and lobster entre were mushy. Tasted good but needed to be firmer especially for the price. Service was great.
I have visited Charlie Palmer at least 25 times, if not more. I have always found the food to be mediocre, at best, but it was always the superb service, ambience, and attention to detail that kept me coming back. It is about one block from my office building, so it is very convenient too. However, my last visit was terribly disappointing. I ordered from the "prix-fix" lunch menu and loved the blackened catfish with crispy chickpeas entrée. Unlike my previous visits, therefore, the cuisine was outstanding! However, the service was deplorable and overshadowed what should have been a lovely visit. When I asked for salad dressing, our server only mentioned two dressings, when in fact they have five! (I learned this when I called back to ask.) He didn't bring any bread for the table until asked, he never came back to ask if we were pleased with our meal, and overall, his attention to our table was purely non-existent. This same gentleman had waited on me once before, and had provided poor service then. I thought that everyone deserved a second chance. Clearly, I guess not.
I eat at a lot of steak houses around the country and the steak I had here falls dead last maybe behind Texas Roadhouse. Certainly not up there with the top steak houses. The people were great the quality of the food was lacking.
Great atmosphere and presentation of food overall was fantastic
