Charley’s Crab - Palm Beach Ratings and Reviews
Best thing about the meal was the basket of bread they brought after sitting unattended for 20 plus minutes. Food was well below expectations. Atmosphere was like being in a banquet room with tables so tight you could hardly navigate out. Waitress was interrupted twice by other staff trying to deliver food; felt rushed to have my questions answered. I even excused her once to go resolve issue at another table. Table side presentation of specialty drink involved placing ice cube in glass and pouring drink in to glass $20. Chocolate tort cake tasted like it came out of a box. Not at all impressed for the cost and prestige or what I thought Charley's Crab could have provided.
I belong to the Landry Select club and have been to many of their restaurants but I had not been to Charley's Crab in over 15 years. So, since it was always a very good restaurant we went with another couple whom I told would be a really great time. Well, talk about disillusionment! I ordered Grouper, and the portion (supposedly just 7 oz. ) was ridiculously minute and for $37.00 I told the manager that it was unacceptable, so they made it over and served me a proper size portion. But the vegetables were cold, however at that point, enough complaining. My wife and one of my friends were served dinners which were cold and they had to be returned to be reheated so the manager did not charge for these 2 dinners. He and the waitress apologized, but there were just too many negatives, and we were not looking for bargains but for a good dining experience. The evening was our Valentine's Day outing and Charley's Crab managed to ruin it. I do not need to visit a restaurant that has so many problems and so Charley's Crab is definitely off of my list and I will tell everyone that I know just how terrible our experience was.
Usually consider CC a special restaurant we visit on Valentine's Day.
The visit a few days ago was a disappointment to me because my fish tacos were not especially goid. The first half lacked fish. Didn't taste aany within the dressing, etc. The second half had a bit of fish bit had a fishy taste. That caused me to leave the rest of it.
Told the waiter but he said it depends who makes the sandwich, and he apologized.
Other guests with me had no complaints.
I also had delicious fish soup.
Wonderful food and service! Tatiana was our server and was so sweet. I asked what her name was again when we left, so I can ask for her as a server next time.
We had dinner there for our 15th wedding anniversary. But my husband said, we will come more often. So expect to see us on Friday nights.
Dissapointed this time for lunch on a Sunday- slow service, our waiter forgot to bring the drink ordered, our favorite item on the menu was no longer available ( ran out of it, we were informed will be available in 1.5 hours...) too cold from the A/C to feel comfortable.
Clearly there was not enough help in the kitchen.
Our waiter was running to try to take care of all the tables he was assigned. He was pleasant, hard-working and frustrated.
It was too much too long to get our entrees. The mussels were small and there werethree or four with nothing in the shells; a couple that hadn’t opened.
My oysters were small and not ice cold. My avocado and crab timbale had shredded crab, as opposed to the lump crab I expected.
We have been to this restaurant bt
We enjoyed this upscale seafood-dominated restaurant. It appeared our waiter was new. He barely gave us time to be seated when he asked us if he wanted drinks. After asking for a moment to look at the wine list and drink menu, it took him quite a while to get back to us, but at least he apologized when he did. Then he came back and said the bartender was too busy to serve up our drinks. Never heard of that! Aside from that miscue -- our drinks did finally arrive -- the seafood was delicious and the rest of the meal was uneventful.
Our first visit to this restaurant to celebrate 2 birthdays over brunch. The menu selection was good and we all enjoyed our meals. The crab frittata was excellent. The service was very good and attentive, We had a nice view of the ocean despite not being seated right next to the window. I mentioned when I reserved that we were celebrating 2 birthdays and our server brought 2 delicious desserts for our table. I will definitely be going back.
Everything that could go wrong did! I requested thru Open Table a window table NOT a corner one. My request was not fulfilled. The reason: they didn’t notice my request! I waited 15 minutes for the proper table to be ready! Turns out a soiled table cloth was used. Server finally came over took our drink order. Drinks delivered 15 minutes later ...they were WRONG!!.....server didn’t show up again for another 20 minutes. Asked to speak to a manager ASAP waited another 15 minutes ... started leaving she finally surfaces saying she was busy with a party table! I frequent this restaurant very often .... last night it was disgraceful especially for a Palm Beach Island Restaurant.
Our party was very happy with our restaurant of choice. We had a very leisure dinner for the birthday man and enjoyed everything we'd ordered. This is definitely a special occasion place near the beach. The host and waitresses were very attentive and made sure we were all happy with our choices. Definitely a place to go back to when in town again.
We stopped in for a late lunch. Had drinks and several appetizers - grilled octopus, avocado and crab timbale, Caesar salad. The octopus was a bit tough. The ambience and service was very nice, the price is a bit high, but to be expected for that area of Palm Beach.
I go to this place sporadically for years. Today the staff is very nice but not very attentive. I had to ask for bread after 15 minutes we were sitting, I had to ask to clean the plates quite some time after we were done. The decor is “tired” , the view is stunning on the ocean but it has been quite some time since the windows were cleaned. Too bad because it gives a feeling of the restaurant being dirty.
Overall a Palm Beach institution which deserves new energy to turn it back to the fantastic place it once was..:(
Disappointing. Lobster listed on the daily menu, but not available. Crusted trout filet not edible- the trout was somewhere in there, I guess. They never deboned the filet, so picking out the bones from the filet was ridiculous. And way, way over crusted. Like I said, hard to find any actual trout in this dish. The calamari appetizer very tasty, but a very small amount of calamari in it. The service was painfully slow. Seemed to have problems in the kitchen getting out the food. Also getting a couple glasses of wine and beer took the bar 15 minutes to get to the table. Waiter said bar was very busy. I saw exactly 4 people sitting at the bar, so that "very busy" excuse didn't fly. We were a party of 4 and meal took 2&1/2 hours. Would be expected if this was an upscale fine dining restaurant. But Charley's Crab is far from that.
A very poor excuse for a restaurant. Service was very slow. Waitresses had too many table spread too far apart. Little coordination from the boss whoever that might be. Menu fair but execution of it was dismal. I can eat pretty much anything but only took a couple of bite of the seviche and I knew I was in trouble. Husband's crab cake had so much filler one could hardly taste any crab. Hard to fathom why this restaurant exists after so many years.
