Charley’s Crab - Palm Beach Ratings and Reviews
The steak was over done. Our guests shared our pasta dish. We were given complimentary desserts for not having the listed desserts in the Flavor of Palm Beach Course. Which was kind of funny since we paid for the desserts to be included. Service at the end was dreadfully long and the restaurant was empty. Not sure what happened, we couldn't get out of there fast enough.
In one word, it's Landry's. Wish we would have known that going in. We thought it was a local West Palm Beach restaurant but no. Fish tasted "fishy". Probably the worst oysters we've had. Way over priced for what you got. Would not go again.
We went to Charley's to celebrate my mothers 80th birthday. The dinner could not have started better. I was impressed with the greeting we received...my mother was handed a personalized menu and the hostess let her know they were preparing a special dessert for her. The food was great. Clam chowder was one of the best we've had and crab avocado timbale as good as advertised. My mothers surf and turf was superb. I absolutely loved the Grouper...perfectly prepared and obviously fresh..
Unfortunately, our server never brought the "special dessert" although we did order some key lime pie (also very good)...When I asked the hostess about the special dessert she said it was coming and the server told me the Creme brûlée was on the house ...although he never brought it! He eventually said he would but ended up just comping the pie...not a big deal but just awkward. Overall service was fine...especially good at the start of the evening but once the place got more crowded ...not nearly as attentive. Overall, a flawed but good experience highlighted by some very good food.
A wonderful luncheon for a party of 7, celebrating a life well lived by a WWII laid to rest this day. Richard, our server, was wonderful. Very knowledgeable of the menu and food options. The food and wine delicious. Great selections and lovely tastes. We throughly enjoyed our time at this fine restaurant with an encredible view of the clear ocean. Valet staff was most accommodating also.
Service was good and the view is great, but the snapper was over cooked and dry. The grouper Ruben was barely recognizable a tiny piece of fish and melted cheese on a 2 day old bun. The crab and avocado timbale was pretty and tasty, the best thing we had at Charley's Crab.
Restaurant front section was relatively busy when we arrived - back section totally empty.
Table they had reserved for us not available even after a 20 min wait past our booked time, so ended up dining at counter style table by the bar. Wasn't ideal for 5 but it was either that or a table in a room on our own.
Service was okay to good - very friendly & helpful but not massively knowledgable on the menu - the same person was bartender when we arrived.
Food was good - crab/avo/mango is excellent as is the Angle hair/prawn dish.
All in all okay but for price charged I expected a bit better and wouldn't rush back.
What a filthy restaurant. Rug is covered with grease and stains, restaurant smells like old laundry and mildew, chairs are disgustingly soiled, table lines old, ripped and frayed...and when I was seated I literally had to wipe ants off my chair. The condition of the restaurant ruined anything that may have been good. Don't go...plenty of better seafood restaurants within 1 mile....just takes advantage of tourists and the ocean front location.
We enjoyed our dinner at Charley's Crab celebrating my birthday. The service was excellent, the suggested wine, RAEBURN CHARDONNAY, fit well with the meal and the ocean view was perfect. My wife enjoyed the Martha's Vineyard salad and I the shrimp cocktail. Huge fresh shrimp with a perfect cocktail sauce. My wife's entre', the crab cakes, were excellent. Lots of crab and little filler. My PAN SEARED SCALLOPS looked perfectly cooked, however, they were quite bland with a mushy consistency. I had expected the pistachio pesto on the scallops to add some zest but not so. The risotto and baby squash, on the other hand, which was served with the scallops, was outstanding. Dessert was Charley's specialty, a rich, yummy chocolate molten creation with ice cream. A perfect ending!
Either the cashier or the waiter fumbled the final bill. We are Landry Rewards members and, as such were redeeming 2 Landry rewards. The birthday reward was supposed to be credited to the bill if there was a reservation. Even though we made reservations through Open Table, AND mention that we were redeeming rewards, the first iteration of the check did not have the rewards deducted. Second iteration produced only a comp dessert. Third iteration finally deducted the proper reward amount.
At the end of the day, we did enjoy our dinner, the waiter handled the check issue quickly and pleasantly. We will return to Charley's Crab and would recommend this restaurant to a friend.
