Charley’s Crab - Palm Beach Ratings and Reviews
I arrived 5 minutes before my Open Table reservation time, and was told that I was too early, my table was not ready and to go over to the bar. There were multiple tables set and ready to go.
When we were seated, our waitress took my wine order, and said bread would be coming. No bread ever arrived, and 30 minutes later the bottle of wine was opened.
The food was good, but my wife and I will not go back, It is on Palm Beach, with Palm Beach high prices, but they do not deliver anything special, except slow service, and a nice view for lunch. We were there for dinner, so the view was a dark ocean.
The place was filled with large families, with kids crawling all over the table, the floor, and dueling with silverware. I guess, I expected a different experience.
Lovely place to have lunch. Very good service. But I have to complain about the lobster omelette. The Eggs were
overcooked and dry whereas an omelette should be soft and fluffy. Shame on the chef. The lobster the omelette contained had a fishy taste And the whole wascompletely on enjoyable.
The service was excellent. The waiter went out of his way to please. The Shrimp Scampi was good in as far as cooking the shrimp well, but it was way too salty. The location of the restaurant is great. The food overall was good, but was pricey. I don't think I would rush back.
I keep going back hoping it got better , not in the last ten years its actually worse, the help tries but not good the food does not make up for it, never ever tastes fresh, old dated, tasteless, like refrigerated leftovers , I go only for the ocean view and to be honest the ambience it awful awful!! I will sacrifice the view no more!! Shame on you Charlie’s crab, take your lessons from bricktop PBG! I will try the palm beach one, I should of, I hear it also is excellent !
the experience started off with being seated next to the door, with the cold draft. other tables were available. pricing was fair at best. Some of our food was served cold, and had to be sent back. The scallops were bland at best. overall my birthday experience there was disapointing. I feel this is a daytime restaurant, the ocean views are nice.
Very disappointing. Used to be one of my favorites in Palm Beach unfortunately it is not anymore. The service was terrible, and the food was not very good at all. It took so long to get the food that we ended up having to cancel a few of the entrees because we just lost our appetite.
Waited at the bar for 1 1/2 hrs. The hostess couldn’t locate us apparently. Then our server we had was unapologetic and rude. The manager was aware and switched servers who ended up being fabulous. 3 out of 4 dinners were delicious. 3 seafood dishes we had were delicious. The steak dinner was horrible.
Worse experience ever, extremely disappointing. We sat at a table for 30 minutes before a nice waitress from the next table noticed us. Took 30 minutes to get water, another 20 minutes to get drink order. The food was bad. The salad was a few tired greens, the seabass was swimming in oil, the crab and salmon sat too long under a heat lamp. The only good thing were the pine nuts.we wanted to send it back but there was no one to talk to. It took forever to get the check. We will never come back
We have eaten here a number of times. This time was for brunch on Sunday, New Year's Eve. Everyone got different food. My Monte Cristo was very good but ws delivered without powdered surgar or jam. Another member of the party seemed to enjoy his fish & chips. A third barely touched her salmon burger, and my wife's eggs benedict looked strange, and she said it wasn't very good. On the brighter side, we had a table by the windows overlooking the ocean, and we were in no hurry, dining with friends, so the long time it took to get our drinks and hors d'oeuvres didn't really bother us.
The Easter brunch at Charlie’s Crab was fantastic (we took a table of 6) so we booked a table for brunch on New Years Eve. We had a great table in the middle of the front dining room, so we got to enjoy the light and the view! The restaurant is so beautiful and the table settings and decorations for the holidays were truly lovely. Our server was great but our food was not. We were terribly disappointed.
My impression is that Charley's is a good combination of reliability and competence. Service could not have been better. I was forced by chance to make my reservation only 24 hours in advance which landed us a table in the back of the restaurant but at 7:45 PM which was perfect timing for us. You can request a table in the front half of the restaurant which might offer you a distant view of the ocean which is across the street and over a wall. Come for the food, not the view, and you won't be disappointed.
We’ve been to Charlie’s Crab in West Palm Beach, Grand Rapids and Troy on multiple occasions. This was the first truly poor experience we’ve ever had. Very disappointing. After a long long wait between ordering and food service, 3 out of 4 dishes were simply wrong. I ordered potatoes and asparagus with mine, but received coconut rice and broccoli, even after pointing out we have a coconut allergy at the table. My wife had crab cakes that were served ice cold with no sauce at all. My daughter ordered a dish with no spinach but of course had spinach mixed throughout. Very disappointing. The manager tried to make it right later but it’s difficult when everyone is eating at different times.
Service was terrible, it took 3 hours for the whole meal because everything took so long. Our server didn't clear our table in between courses. They ran out of mashed potatoes & didn't even ask us what we would like as a substitute. They gave the last mashed potato order to 1 person in our party & just gave rice to the rest. Mine & my boyfriend's NY strip were burned & my sister-in-law's mixed grill was burned. We ordered dessert any way & all 3 of our creme brulees were undercooked. We did speak with management & they adjusted our bill removing the mixed grill entree, the 2 NY strip steak entrees & the 3 creme brulees. The problem is my brother wanted to go somewhere else for Christmas dinner originally & I stuck up for this restaurant & talked everyone in my family to going here. This was my sister-in-law's 1st time going & then all of that happens. Unfortunately we will never go back to Charlie's Crab.
We were very disappointed with the food for several reasons:
Caesar Salad only had one anchovy, the tenderloin medallions was supposed to come with cremini cream if it was there there was so little it made no difference. The main reason we were unhappy with the food was that both the tenderloin medallions and the grouper were dry.
We were in a smacking room with 4 tables for 2 which apparently rarely used because it had a very musty odor.
