Excellent food & excellent service. Every time I come here I always receive the very best service. They have a drink called The Meaning of Life, definitely a must try.
We had a delicious meal here. The batter on the fried shrimp and oysters is what makes this dish outstanding! Danielle was such a delight........so welcoming and accommodating! We highly recommend having a meal here!
Their Service was INCREDIBLY SLOW, felt very neglected, inexplicably, and food just ok
Food was good, service was great. Had somewhat of a difficult time finding the restaurant, but once we arrived-it was worth it. The view was great!
Great service and you get free parking
Food was delicious and waiter was on top of everything ! Nice setting, with harbor and USS Yorktown right out the window!
Very accommodating - I don't eat foods cooked in vegetable oils so they were very receptive to preparing my meal with butter versus conventional oils.
I had a reservation at the fish house March 3rd with 2 of my close friends, my mom and one of her close friends before an event. We made the reservation for 6:30 Which with a hour dining time we would make our event on time. The wait time to get our drinks was almost 20 minutes. 2 ladies ordered wine, 1 of which recieved the wrong wine. The wait for our food to arrive was 40 minutes. Once we ate and finally recieved the bill. Two of the three bills were wrong. The waitress took those away, along with the correct bill and debit card. She then brought back the 2 bills corrected and the one bill that was originally correct came back not charged and no card. The table behind us was given my friends card and their bill was run on her card. ($130), her meal was only $28. When we brought the mess up to the waitress along with the other issues we had that evening, she sent her manager over which gave every excuse possible and scolded us for being rude. Rude NO. Frustrated YES! Not to mention the one glass of wine that was wrong and sent back was still charged to her bill. We understand mess ups happen, you get busy, large groups, short staff. Whatever the case may be but what we experienced was not acceptable. The restaurant is beautiful, the food is actually very good (a little pricey) but service was terrible. We do not plan on going back and have told as many people as we could about our experience.
This restaurant has the potential to be amazing but not with the service we received.
Newer place at an awesome location on the harbor. We were lucky to get a table shortly before sunset and were able to enjoy the beautiful views from there, which included the Yorktown and Ravenel bridge. Our server was attentive, but not overly so, and the food was very good. Not the best seafood restaurant that we have been to, but still a good choice.
We didn't like that you have to pay to park. The food was pricey. That made for a more expensive evening than expected.
Finally a great waiter!
We live close by and have had bad service and inconsistent food. Tonight Hunter was our waiter and he was great.
It was a quiet night and the hostess starting moving tables and chairs by scraping them against the floor so she could close up early. The manager brought wine to a table adjacent to us holding the neck of the bottle.
I'm not sure how Hunter learned the service industry, but he gets it!
We had out-of-town friends visiting, so we took them to The Fish House - mainly for the view!! We love the food, too, and we had a great time. The restaurant was not very crowded, we wondered if it was because of the new parking situation!! We were happy to find out that we did not have to pay for the parking. Everyone enjoyed their meal, the view, and the entire atmosphere. We will be back.
Had a very pleasant experience. Lovely location, nice decor, very friendly staff. Food is delicious.
Great service and good fresh seafood in a very casual atmosphere. The water view is wonderful! However, it's VERY noisy, especially in the "second" room to the main room. Just one family with 2 small children made the entire room filled with constant noise. Would recommend asking to be seated in the main room where the noise level seems more acceptable. Otherwise, a good meal with exceptional service!
Great View...but Sub-Par Food. This restaurant has the most amazing views in the Charleston area...for dining. It's situated on Patriots Point...and looks out onto a large Marina and the Aircraft Carrier Yorktown...and over the Harbor to Charleston. The ambience is wonderful...service is on par with most restaurants in the Charleston area...but the problem lies in the kitchen. My friend ordered the Clam Chowder as a starter and the Crab Cakes as the entreé...while I ordered the She Crab Soup for my starter and the Market Fish(red snapper) as my entrée. Her Clam Chowder was tasty, but thin by Boston standards ...and my She Crab Soup was excellent...but that was the best part of the meal. Hushpuppies arrived with the soup, but alas they were burned(oh well)...This forewarned of what was to come. the Crab Cakes were bland & surely could have used a dipping sauce(a key Lime aoli would have been nice). My Red Snapper was roasted in the oven and was bland & mushy. A pan-sautéed red snapper would have been fine(spiced properly)...but the flesh just turns to mush in the oven. The bottle of Riesling and the soups were the highlight of the evening(we should have departed, after the soup). This building & it's location could be a money-printing machine...but the owners/investors just did not spend enough capital in the kitchen. I do not consider myself a food-snob, but I have traveled a lot an have dined at some good & some Great dining Facilities.
Pridce-wise this restaurant is on par with most downtown Charleston dining options...Crab Cakes-$28. & Red Snapper-$31.50 but restaurants have only three Options to bring to the Diner.
Number 1-Quality Food Number 2-Ambience Number 3-Service. And Yes... I have owned two restaurants in my life...both successful and quite profitable also.
We had a very good dinner. We both had the salmon dinner. It came with rice and a dill yogurt. Clean plates when we were finished. Nice large serving of salmon. Too full for dessert. Great view of the Charleston Harbor.
Super loud... empty restaurant. For it to be empty, our food took quite a long time to be prepared.. just not what we expected.
The service was ok, but the waitress didn’t know the meals on the menu. The dining room was loud. The food was good, but small portions for the price. You are paying for the view.
Overall a meh experience. Nothing special. Loud space. Too many hard surfaces. The food was ok, except my seared rare tuna was cooked all the way and the was no indication of sear. You can get better seafood at better prices and service many places in the area. Nothing compelling to get me to return.
The service was wonderful. We had the Oysters Rockefeller with trout roe for an appetizer and it was one of the best ever. The surf and turf along with the scallops were superb!
Went for Valentine's day. Restaurant was not crowded, but our food took forever to get. I really thought they had forgotten my appetizer since my wife had gotten her's and her entre side salad already. Hushpuppies were burnt. Entres were good. Waitress asked twice whether another drink was needed. Finally got it the second time. View was a awesome and everyone was pleasant. Not going back...
My second time here in two weeks! We have been comparing the She Crab soup to many others around town. The Fish House wins HANDS DOWN! Wonderful food and atmosphere!
Excellent view of harbor. Prices a little high. Food for most part was excellent. Cole slaw was a little bland.
Lovely staff. Average food. Nice view. Surprisingly there was not a restroom inside the restaurant. It is down the hall.
I went on feb 9th for my wife birthday. The waitress took forever to comeback. The food was great. Went back the next night, a different waitress, she waited at another table about looking for another job. And took forever to come wait on us. No 2nd glass of water. Good was hard and greasy. We waited 10 mins to get our check so we could pay. The r esturant was nearly empty. It shouldn't have taken both nights and 2 different waitresses to come and serve. I also got a virgin Miami vice drink. I had to exchange it for a sprite. It was to syrupy it wasn't stirred..sorry for the review but 2 nights in a row I couldn't get great service. I even saw other tables waiting...the man with a limp was great to all his tables. I wish I had him...please monitor your servers
Serve brunch on Sunday!
It’s beautiful in there and the views are amazing. The food was delicious as well, perfectly seasoned, we enjoyed it.
Server seemed new. Forgot my son’s drink and would disappear for long periods. Restaurant was pretty much empty so..... however, everyone was very nice and considerate and we really enjoyed the food. Will definitely go again when in the area.
Visited for my birthday on a Thursday evening. Have been there before during the day and love the view. Would recommend, especially if you like seafood.
We found that the service and food were quite acceptable. However, with concrete floors and ceilings with no acoustic buffers, the noise level was not conclusive to a nice quiet dinner with a great view of the harbor. The noise waxed and waned with diners coming and going. Food was good, no issue there, noise a bit too much. The restaurant has several garage type doors overlooking the harbor, maybe on a warm night with those open the sound may diminish some...
The restaurant was not even full yet it took 50 minutes for 3 meals to arrive. The food was not what we had hoped for the price paid. There are much better options in Charleston than this place but I had to at least try. The view is nice that’s about it.
We happened to be in Charleston for restaurant week. The menu choices for restaurant week were great. We all found items we liked and got plenty of food for a great price.
The seasonal salad was wonderful. The grilled salmon was crisp on the outside and moist on the inside.
We arrived just at sunset and had a wonderful view of the setting sun.
The wait staff was very attentive but not overly so.
Great food and service. We had a great view of the water, and enjoyed a relaxing lunch.
nice date night restaurant, not many cars in the parking lot so I was skeptical that the food/atmosphere wasn't very good for their not to be many people there at 7pm on a Friday night, but overall service was great, I forget the name of our waitress was but he was a awesome guy and made for a very pleasant date night.
Great birthday brunch
Good food, especially the Salmon. A but strange with an outdoor bathroom. Upstairs bar was unfortunately closed, but nice inside environment with a fireplace.
We recently visited the Harbor Fish House twice around New Years. We ate lunch and had dinner New Years eve. Lunch was very good and the service and food were average to above average. Dinner was not as good an experience. Cocktails were not very good and the service was subpar. It is not a spot for a romantic dinner-go to downtown Charleston. At last count I have made 132 reservations through Open Table and I rarely have anything but rave reviews about these restaurants.
New Year’s Eve dinner at the Fish House with my husband. His swordfish was moist and delicious. My ribeye was prepared perfectly. Our server Courtney was helpful and a pleasure. We will be back.
Brought our out of town guest in for lunch. Beautiful setting. Food and service was awesome.
Greeters/Hosts very welcoming! Server was ok but did not make many suggestions and when asked about a few entrees gave inaccurate descriptions. Surf and Turf was fabulous and cooked med rare perfectly! Crab cakes were drier and had almost no sauce. Fried Green tomatoes were ok but again had almost no sauce. They are very skimpy with the sauce. Drinks from the bar, very small. Salmon was a good size but served wity cooked tomatoes? instead of rice or risotto. Long wait for our check but otherwise decent service. Loud drunk lady at the bar was still being served even when intoxicated.
