Food and service was excellent
Amazing views to start off the evening, great service and so good entrees!! Apps are also good, cornbread is on point just watch the jalapeños!!
Recommend to anyone for a great meal, especially right at sunset.
Chip was awesome!!! Great recommendations and fun conversation with him. Dinner was delicious - salmon and shrimp and grits. Grilled shrimp appetizer was some of the best we have had in a long time. Chip was attentive and hard working and your cook staff was top notch! We will be back soon!
Hostesses were rude. Service was extremely slow. Food was just average.
The food was ok but the poor service ruined our experience. Our server was very pleasant but far too busy. Our wine arrived after the food, only once we had reminded the server. One person’s drink arrived and we had a further wait for the other one! Definitely not worth the money.
Food was barely ok. Service was horrible. Server needed to be reminded to give our kids their desert ice cream sandwich. Filled our 1/2 full glasses of Rosé and charged us full price. Gave us bill before asking if we wanted desert.
Prime rib is awful. Snapper is good
Food was Great! It was their Christmas menu and we really enjoyed it. We had Korrie and Isabelle as our servers. They both were excellent. Truly enjoyed our visit.
It was a great prime rib Christmas meal. The waiter service was excellent. We even got to take pictures with the Grinch!!
We have had better experiences with Harbor Fish House. We are a local family and this is our fourth Christmas Day dinner. The Seafood tower was not on the menu and the Burger was gone as well. Our appetizers and entrees arrived at the same time. Our server seemed new and very distracted. She passed our table several times before she finally spoke to us. My husband had to go ask who our server was.
Things were just a little off this time but we plan to come back next year. Hopefully, our next experience will be more like our first experience.
My husband and I were visiting Charleston from Florida and knew there wouldn't be a lot of restaurants open on Christmas day. This one was so we made reservations. We figured there would be a limited menu and weren't put off by this. We were happy to see prime rib was on the menu so we both ordered it. Prime Rib was not good. Mine was small and extremely fatty even for a prime rib and my husbands was very grizzly. Mashed potatoes were good but we weren't given much. Vegetables were some carrot concoction. Strange looking but edible. After finishing our meal, we were still hungry so shared an apple tart for dessert. It was like having a toaster streudel from the frozen section in a grocery store! I'm hoping that due to this being Christmas it may not represent how the restaurant usually is food wise but for the price we paid we expected better and were both disappointed.
Great place to grab Christmas dinner.
Food is over priced. Nice environment and location though.
For the price I’d recommend many other restaurants. My husband’s meal didn’t come out until we were done with ours and no one apologized. We also requested a table w a high chair in our reservation and there wasn’t much room to fit it at our table while there were 5-6 bigger tables available.
Fabulous service and food!
Staying at Harborview and decided to try this place out. I had a very pleasant server and she checked on me often. I really could not see the view from my table, but the restaurant itself is very pretty.
I ordered fried green tomatoes for my starter and topped it off with peel and eat shrimp. Both were good. The key lime pie was the best part of the meal.
View is great. Food is just so so. The tacos and peel and eat shrimp were over cooked.
The service we experienced was wonderful but the food was just so terrible. From the mushy fried green tomatoes to peel & eat shrimp that was slimy & far from fresh. We heard great things and were so disappointed.
We went for Thanksgiving dinner and the wait staff were friendly and attentive, even though they were away from their families. The food was fabulous, thanks Haywood and Trevor, and the bourbon pecan cocktail was a desert in itself.
We had dinner reservations for Thanksgiving and sat down at the table at 530pm. They were already out of many of the dinner choices. Our meals were served almost two hours after we ordered. The kids were hungry but the restaurant didn’t even have bread to hold them over. The prime rib was mostly fat and undercooked. The service team seemed oblivious that anything was not going well and made no attempt to apologize or correct the situation.
Nice water views, good location. Staff was nice, friendly and helpful. But the food was very average at best. We had Thanksgiving dinner there and the turkey dinner was just "meh" served luke warm, nothing on my plate was hot, but we waited so long for our food to come out, I just let it go... kid's pizza was barely edible. The two others at our table had fish and said it was good. I will not be going back.
My wife and I both had the grouper as our main course. I had decaf coffee; she had water. We also had pecan pie for dessert (I added vanilla icecream to my pie). The grouper was delicious; both my wife and I agreed that the portions were just right. The dessert was delicious. The waitstaff provided excellent service. This was our first visit and we plan to return.
We had a very positive experience. The food was very good, and the service was exceptional.
The pumpkin soup was outstanding, the salmon was great, and so was the grouper. The views are awesome. Definitely worth a visit whilst in Charleston.
Nonchalant front door staff
Relatively ok service
Overpriced pasta with Lobster and Shrimp but didn’t exactly hate it, new and interesting, but certainly not 30$ portion!
Do I regret it? Probably not because Charleston has become the Mecca of new food and new cuisines!
Go for it but it’s a 3
we have been tho Fish House three times. This was the best!
The service was fine, and it's a great area. I have had amazing seafood in Charleston and this was just disappointing for me. I read Dave reviews about the shrimp and grits and it was just not very good. They recommended a fish dip and that was a mistake. It's also VERY expensive for what it is, and I was surprised at the limited selection. We come to Charleston often and this was our first time here, but will go back to the places we know are great.
Service was extremely slow. Food okay. Waitress blamed the wait on my gluten allergy. She then told us to take our time bc she was tired and didn’t want new people to be seated at our table. Atmosphere is casual and nice, probably better if a day to sit outside, but harbor view from inside mostly blocked by the US ship that is docked there. Definitely our least favorite meal of our 4 day trip. Also my gluten free bread was served on top of the regular bread which makes it unsafe for me to eat. All other restaurants we visited in Charleston understood a gluten allergy/celiac.
Location and scenic views were outstanding, but that was all it had going for it that night. Our server was very pleasant but very inattentive after he brought us the appetizer. He was giving one table his undivided attention while we sat there with drink glasses empty most the meal and plates we had finished with were still on the table and in the way. Not once did he come back to check on us. Another server happened by and filled our glasses at the end of the meal. Then of course when it was time for the check our server magically appears. As far as the food, the calamari was very good. Only wish my meal was as good. The shrimp and grits had flavor but the temp was not hot and the consistency of the grits was a lump! They were certainly NOT creamy! The fried shrimp was actually a plate of fries with a side of shrimp. Other than the view this place is not a good value for locals. There are way too many seafood restaurants that have better food and service for less $$. I don't mind paying, but I want what I pay for. This place didn't deliver on food & service!
Our server, Hunter, was very nice and accommodating!
I expected more non-fried seafood options on the menu but what we ordered was very good. Our waiter knew nothing about the menu - his first day on the job, but he should have been better informed. Noise level so bad we couldn’t have a normal discussion across our table. Loved the view.
The food, service, and view were incredible! Made my birthday celebration! Will be returning to eat again the the Fish House!
Great view, delicious food and staff was amazing. Nice vacation experience.
Bar far one best seafood in Charleston with flavor and presentation. Service was outstanding and silverware was very cleaned.
Service wasn’t the best, but food was really good and the view is great overlooking the Yorktown
The food was outstanding. The service not so much. They appeared to have 3 waitresses on duty on a Friday night. Ours was new. She did her best but there were too many tables. The manager and the busboys were trying to help but it was way too busy.
Met friends for lunch
View was great. Service was decent. Food was TERRIBLE.
Great atmosphere and decor with harbor views. However, the chicken caesar salad was simply a small size side salad and left me unsatisfied. For $12 how about providing a decent amount of lettuce. Very dissappointing. Prices aren't worth the food portions but the food in general is good.
Also, service left a lot to be desired. We had empty salt and pepper mills at our table that we actually had to get ourself from another table due to our server's lack of assistance.
Won't be returning to this restuarant again.
Excellent service and food. Although they had three large parties going simultaneously, they were still able to manage restaurant with only minor delays. We were in no hurry so we just enjoyed the gorgeous view of the Charleston Harbor.
