Awesome Food! Our waitress was from Jamaica and she was Fantastic!! Next time we are in Charleston we will definitely stop in.
Great service and food. Had the place to ourselves at 5:15pm
We enjoyed the food and the beautiful harbor view. Service was slow. We were almost finished with our appetizer before our wine arrived...and we also finally had to ask for appetizer plates since it was getting a bit messy to eat over the table . Not the end of the world but the pace of service and attention to detail was lacking. However, the food was excellent. We’re guessing it was an off night for them. We are looking forward to visiting again.
The food was pricey the views were nice.
The view is spectacular but we were a little disappointed with our food. The calamari & fried green tomatoes were way too salty. The hamburger was just so-so. A little burnt for my taste
Waitress was one of the best we have ever had. She definitely connected with our daughter and made it special for her. The food was awesome as well. Best crab cake ever!!!! We did have reservations and we waited for about 15 mins which was fine. The confusing part was when we did get seated the room we were seated in was completely empty. Why the wait if that is where we were seated. It filled up after we were seated so really not sure why we had to wait at all. Hostesses didn’t seem o fully know what was going on while we were waiting.
The food was excellent, unfortunately the service was horrible. When we sat down we told our waitress we would forgo the appetizers and order dessert after dinner. During the course of our dinner there were several people that got up and left because of no service. Our service was slow at best. At the end of our dinner the waitress walked by and dropped off the bill and left. We were not offered after-dinner drinks, coffee or dessert. The location of this facility has the makings of a 4-5 star restaurant, however the service is holding it back. We live locally, however we will not be back. Charleston has too many good restaurants that want your business.
Beautiful view great service splendid food!
The waitress was wonderful. There was no rush with anything. She even created a plate with piece of awesome key lime pie on it with writing of happy anniversary on it. Special touch.
The shrimp appetizer was good but seemed onverge of almost being water logged. My husband had the fried shrimp and fried oysters and was disappointed that the oysters were not even size if a quarter. The Cole slaw was really good as we're the hush puppies. I would never have thought that honey butter would go well with them!
We were initially concerned that the restuarant was part of a resort. The food and ambience quickly dispelled our concerns. Food was good; the only disappointment was the burger which at every table at least one person was having. Expecting it to be something special, it was very disappointing. The clam chowder, however, was very good as well as the beet salad. Portions were larger than expected; a doggy bag was needed.
Food was lukewarm, service was average but food is always very fresh!
The view is great, the food and prices could be better but it is more tourist aimed since it’s at the marina resort. Our server was very attentive and seemed to have lots of regulars. I’ll definitely bring any out of town visitors here for the experience though.
We had a reservation for eight at 6:15, so we thought we would be ahead of the dinner rush. Our table was ready, but this restaurant seriously needs more staff to turn the tables over more quickly. The food is average (Charleston average) at best, definitely not worth downtown prices, even with the fantastic view in such an awesome building. If only they would recruit a downtown chef, hire more servers to turn the tables quicker, this could be a FIVE star, hands down, restaurant. The atmosphere is awesome, as was our server, Romaine. It’s too bad the rating is low largely due to poor management.
The spot is amazing, view over the bridge and the old war ship.
I really wanted this to be a great evening, as it was our 10 year wedding anniversary. My partner and I have actually been together since 1989 (29 year together), however our life partnership was only legally recognized starting in 2008 with same sex marriages in California. So, back to the review. I booked this reservation as a special occasion and indicated it was our anniversary. When greeted by the hostesses, they looked at the reservation, then us and the two young women looked back at each other and giggled with one saying, you want to take this one? The young woman led us to the taxable and then left. Our waitress came and all the usual dinner ensued with great food (Seafood Castle, salads, surf & turf, oysters & shrimp, etc). At the end when we were presented with the bill, I asked our waitress if had the hostess mentioned that it was our anniversary, and she was startled and said yes, I was going to do something if you ordered a desert, but you didn’t order a desert. Underwhelmed at this point. Me and my husband still had a great evening and didn’t let the fact no one at the Charleston Harbor Fish House even acknowledged our special occasion, even after bringing it up. I would have given a much better review if not for the obvious bigotry of the service staff.
I tend to bring out of town guests to The Charleston Harbor Fish House. The menu needs more variety and hasn’t changed much in 18 months. Our server was very good, although we did have to ask for bread. It took much too long to get our drinks from the bar. My guests loved the She Crab soup. I found them clam chowder to be lacking in clams. The crab cakes were a big hit, but the filet was much too rare. The setting is amazing, but the menu needs some updating.
The food was comparable to fast food. The food was cold and the soup was gelatinous. No one knew how to accept my form of payment (an opentable giftcard). They were very uncomfortable with the idea of it. A staff member came running from the establishment to my vehicle to take her another picture of the card and jot down "a different code".
The she crab soup is some of the best I’ve ever had! The touch of hot sauce gives an unique kick and flavor unlike others I have tried. Our waitress (I believe her name was Kayla) couldn’t have been more attentive and made my mom feel extra special on her birthday. She really did an outstanding job! I will definitely be going back.
Wonderful view of the Yorktown, lovely ambience, great food, nice service.
Don't waste your time and money. There are several other restaurants in Charleston and surrounding areas with a similar view and price point - where the food, service, and atmosphere are vastly superior to this restaurant. We had a reservation - and still had to wait to be seated. When we were seated - it was next to a very large, loud, drunk group. We couldn't even hear the waiter explain the evening specials. We waited approximately an hour and a half for our food - and when it came - it was wrong. Many other patrons waited for a very long time to receive their food as well. The wait staff were simply trying to cover too many tables. When I tried to speak to the person I believe was the manager - she rudely turned and walked away from me. This is all too bad - because the location and view are amazing. However, poor management just can't be overcome,
We were at the the marina for a boat cruise of the harbor, and this restaurant was convenient. However, I would not drive out of my way to eat there; food was merely eatable; noisy; service/food delivery was slow (though our waitress was personable and I suspect not to blame).
The booth we sat in was dirty. The service was so-so. Refills on drinks took forever. I ordered scallops with risotto and it was not good at all. No flavor, and the risotto was undercooked. I expected a restaurant on the harbor to have amazing, fresh seafood and they did not. Everything was overpriced. The view was worth stopping in at the bar, though.
Seafood platters were great......cole slaw needs help
Very nice restaurant, but very noisy & hard to hear. Food was excellent.
Great food, view and atmosphere
Great food, fantastic service. Pricey, but a nice experience with a beautiful view.
First, we were an hour early for our reservation (oops!) but we were seated anyway and had a table by the window. We had heard about the She Crab soup and decided to try it. It was delicious! Hunter was very friendly and helpful. He recommended the flounder which I tried, also for the first time. It was also very good.
Went for anniversary. Took over an hour and twenty minutes to get served surf and turf. Ended up being small dish. Others who came after us were served first they ultimately gave to us for free. Salads took half hour as well. They didn’t have a full house either. Food overpriced for poor service, small portions and “ok” food I do appreciate them trying to make good but I would rather have paid and gotten better service and food.
The food was awesome and the service was phenomenal. I will be back again.
Great location, excellent staff, magnificent view and outstanding food!!! We were celebrating our wedding anniversary over the weekend!!! We will return to the Charleston Harbor Fish House during our next visit!!!
After being greeted by a less-than-pleasant hostess, we wondered if we had made the wrong choice. But things turned around when our server Steven arrived at our table. He was great, and so was the food. Scallops were some of the best we’ve ever had and the fried whole fish was done perfectly. Excellent she crab bisque was worth every calorie! Drink and wine prices are very fair when compared to other area restaurants at this level. Fantastic setting with photo-worthy views at sunset. Would definitely recommend!
Great food with a view of Patriot's Point. Would recommend.
Service was good. The food was meh For the price. We are the shrimp and grits That was not on par with other local restaurants, and a fillet mignon I was pretty bland tasting. Great views however
Lovely evening of fun and good food. Couldn’t beat the views of the USS Clamagore right out the window. Boats coming up and down the harbor.
Crab cakes too much bread.
Shrimp and grits bland.
Good service where the server presented my wife with special treats or candies for our anniversary.
Very special. The USS Yorktown provided aerial bombardment during WWII in the Pacific campaign (Operation Flintlock). My father was a US Marine who must have seen the Yorktown or the aircraft from the Yorktown bombing specific sites before the major amphibian landing on the Marshall Islands.
The wait staff was slow, inexperienced.
Our service was not great. It made an impression. Food was not great either, but very good. Would consider coming back.
Nice view of the harbour. Food was beautiful to look at and tasted great! Waiter and hostess were very nice and informative. Would recommend this place to visitors to the area and to locals both.
Chowder, she crab soup, shrimp and grits, and oysters were all flavorful and enjoyed. Service by Romanine was top notch and the views were much appreciated. Bar on the top floor had good service as well. Would recommend especially if already I. The Patriot’s Point area.
