Charleston Harbor Fish House - Charleston Harbor Resort & Marina Ratings and Reviews
Overall a meh experience. Nothing special. Loud space. Too many hard surfaces. The food was ok, except my seared rare tuna was cooked all the way and the was no indication of sear. You can get better seafood at better prices and service many places in the area. Nothing compelling to get me to return.
Went for Valentine's day. Restaurant was not crowded, but our food took forever to get. I really thought they had forgotten my appetizer since my wife had gotten her's and her entre side salad already. Hushpuppies were burnt. Entres were good. Waitress asked twice whether another drink was needed. Finally got it the second time. View was a awesome and everyone was pleasant. Not going back...
I went on feb 9th for my wife birthday. The waitress took forever to comeback. The food was great. Went back the next night, a different waitress, she waited at another table about looking for another job. And took forever to come wait on us. No 2nd glass of water. Good was hard and greasy. We waited 10 mins to get our check so we could pay. The r esturant was nearly empty. It shouldn't have taken both nights and 2 different waitresses to come and serve. I also got a virgin Miami vice drink. I had to exchange it for a sprite. It was to syrupy it wasn't stirred..sorry for the review but 2 nights in a row I couldn't get great service. I even saw other tables waiting...the man with a limp was great to all his tables. I wish I had him...please monitor your servers
We found that the service and food were quite acceptable. However, with concrete floors and ceilings with no acoustic buffers, the noise level was not conclusive to a nice quiet dinner with a great view of the harbor. The noise waxed and waned with diners coming and going. Food was good, no issue there, noise a bit too much. The restaurant has several garage type doors overlooking the harbor, maybe on a warm night with those open the sound may diminish some...
We happened to be in Charleston for restaurant week. The menu choices for restaurant week were great. We all found items we liked and got plenty of food for a great price.
The seasonal salad was wonderful. The grilled salmon was crisp on the outside and moist on the inside.
We arrived just at sunset and had a wonderful view of the setting sun.
The wait staff was very attentive but not overly so.
nice date night restaurant, not many cars in the parking lot so I was skeptical that the food/atmosphere wasn't very good for their not to be many people there at 7pm on a Friday night, but overall service was great, I forget the name of our waitress was but he was a awesome guy and made for a very pleasant date night.
We recently visited the Harbor Fish House twice around New Years. We ate lunch and had dinner New Years eve. Lunch was very good and the service and food were average to above average. Dinner was not as good an experience. Cocktails were not very good and the service was subpar. It is not a spot for a romantic dinner-go to downtown Charleston. At last count I have made 132 reservations through Open Table and I rarely have anything but rave reviews about these restaurants.
Greeters/Hosts very welcoming! Server was ok but did not make many suggestions and when asked about a few entrees gave inaccurate descriptions. Surf and Turf was fabulous and cooked med rare perfectly! Crab cakes were drier and had almost no sauce. Fried Green tomatoes were ok but again had almost no sauce. They are very skimpy with the sauce. Drinks from the bar, very small. Salmon was a good size but served wity cooked tomatoes? instead of rice or risotto. Long wait for our check but otherwise decent service. Loud drunk lady at the bar was still being served even when intoxicated.
Waitress was nice but couldn’t remember simple things like drink orders. There were only two of us??????
They brought our food and gave my wife the scallops, she ordered salmon. She hates scallops. There is no way she accidentally ordered scallops. The waitress looked mad and said “no, you ordered the scallops “. We were both shocked. Instead of apologizing and correcting the order she told us we were wrong. Incredibly RUDE! Then to top it off the salmon showed up and was raw! She ate around the edges and then just finished her salad. It gets better, they tried to charge us for the scallops that were never ordered!!! The place was not busy. Not even close to being busy. Oh! Also, the bathrooms are outside and about 25 yards down the walkway. WTF? Overpriced and bad service. Save your money and get Captain D’s, but don’t go here
Fantastic food, fantastic service!! We had our Christmas night dinner here and couldn't have been more pleased. Our server, Danielle, was absolutely amazing! She took such good care of us and was super responsive to all our requests....in addition to having a quick wit and was totally on point with our jokes and comments. (We love you, Danielle!!) The planets must have been aligned just right for us to have her as our caretaker! LOL
The food...OMG...the food! I stepped out on faith and ordered seared scallops with Hoppin' John. I very rarely order scallops at a restaurant as most places pretty much butcher and over cooked them to the point they are inedible. Not the Charleston Harbor Fish House! The scallops were cooked to perfection!! Melt in your mouth, as scallops should. The Hoppin' John was amazing and the Tuna Poke...can not say enough about the scrumptious-ness of that little menu item of wonderful! I've already Googled the recipe as that will now be a staple in my house.
Well done, Charleston Harbor Fish House, well done!!
My mom and I went for Christmas lunch and she ordered the crab cakes, I ordered the turkey dinner. Her crab cakes were delicious, but I really disliked everything on my plate. The potatoes were undercooked and everything was cold. I hate to send things back but I sent it back once and it came out just the same. The view and ambiance of the restaurant is great and our service was fine, but I did not like my food at all. For the price, I expected it to be cooked and hot. Im unsure if I will return but if I do I'll get seafood for sure because my mom's crab cake was really good!
We ate here of Christmas Eve. It was not very busy but it still took a long time to get drinks. Some of the food was good, but my dish, scallops, was completely cold and underwhelming. It was about twice as expensive as it should have been. We are locals and will not be back.
This was the worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had. Extremely disappointing. First, after requesting a table by the window through opentable AND speaking with their staff over the phone in advance, my table was not reserved. When we arrived we had to wait and then were given a table near a window near their bar. People were standing next to our table the entire dinner bc it was beside the bar. Every time we’d ask someone to move more people would fill the space. We were told we’d have to wait once more to be moved! The second issue is the portions you receive are laughable. If only I could leave 0 stars here. The menu says it comes with sides but that’s beyond laughable. For a $77 meal my wife and I were left still hungry. She’s 5’2” & 105lb and I’m 5’10” 155. That should tell you how weak their portions are. While the taste of the food (red snapper & Swordfish) was ok it was still PATHETIC portions for $77. Lastly, it took 40 minutes to cook 2 pieces of fish. The only reason I gave service a 2 Stars was bc our server apologized for the wait. You are paying for a view...nothing more. Unfortunately, this location deserves better. It could be special but it’s just sad. As a local, there are tons of better places to eat. Don’t waste your money or time here. Fleet Landing, if you want to eat on the water, puts this place to shame for example.
We were in town for the weekend and decided to look for a new place to try. After looking on several sites, Charleston Harbor Fish House had a 4 star rating. I decided to use open table for reservations. Our waitress was extremely nice and very attentive. Several in our group ordered the shrimp and grits. Sadly, they thought it was bland and have had better at Hickory Tavern (sports bar). I ordered the filet mignon ($35). I told the waitress I would like it well done and it could be butterflied. When I got it, it looked great on the plate. When I cut along the outside, it was well done. As I got a little further in, it was still bloody. I am not talking about medium well. I am talking about wet blood, almost rare. I showed the waitress and asked if they could put the steak back on. She took the plate back for me. A little bit of time passed and she returned. I noticed the manager off in the distance watching. The part that was showing bloody was done. I decided this time to cut right in the center. I was shocked. It was just as bloody as before. It seemed as if the cook just turned the filet on its side to cook the part that was showing. The waitress got the manager and apologized. I told her I mentioned that the cooks could butterfly the filet. The manager said she would comp the meal and have a discussion with the cook. By then, I was just done. Gave it an opportunity to be corrected and the cooks failed. It ruined my dinner which caused me to stop on the way back to our hotel to pick up something quick. The best part of this place is the view. Directly behind the aircraft carrier at Patriots Point. We will not return, nor do we recommend. Disappointed.
Thanksgiving Dinner....reservations at 7:30 for 2. We chose this restaurant because they advertised a “Thanksgiving Menu”. Sat down on time. Given menus. Waitress comes back to take appetizer order. Clams on half shell and bisque for appys. She comes back several mins later, no appys. We ask about where the Thanksgiving menu is. “The Turkey is all gone”. Disappointed, we ask her to come back. She says she’ll get the appys and be back. She comes back and states they are shucking the 3 clams now. She asked if we decided on dinner....I order the surf and turf. “We are out of the surf and turf, as well as the chicken.” Getting more disappointed, I ask her to just get the appys for now. She walks by a few mins later, says, “I checked and your clams are being shucked now.” (How long does it take to shuck 3 clams and pour a bowl of bisque?). After sitting for 30 mins, we left and went to the hotel bar (The Reel Bar) where we were greeted with a friendly bartender and some pretty good bar food!
Our server (she was pregnant) was amazing and such a sweetheart! Our food was TERRIBLE. Calamari had no flavor at all, soup was served cold, crab cakes were so fishy and no lump meat at all, Filet Mignon were ordered med rare but served med well, lobster tails were so small and SO overdone. Server was great and took off the calamari and soup though. Best part of the meal was my Mac n Cheese but even that was served room temp. For the $240 bill, I would expect far superior food. They were also out of like everything. Definitely will not be returning based off food quality, not service.
