Very well executed food and a creative cocktail list. I particularly liked the PB&J Old Fashioned, good wine list as well. Highly reco if you are in MKE
Our waitress was very welcoming and was patient as our final lunch guest came to join us.
She was able to describe many of the entrées that we were interested in ordering. She was also very apologetic about one entrée that was not available. Overall the food was delicious, we enjoyed our time and didn’t feel rushed in anyway.
Not a place for vegetarians. There are just three dishes in the menu that are vegetarian friendly and I'm not even talking about vegans
Great atmosphere. I was a little disappointed that my husband and I waited probably 10 + minutes for a waitress to come and get our drink orders. We also had reservations and it wasn’t even that busy when we initially sat down. But, overall the food was delicious and pricing was fair! I will totally be back again.
Of the four of us- three had never been to Char'd. They were all pleased and it was as good as I remembered. Sophia was our waitress. She gave good descriptions of the food and drink menu. Sophia was attentive without being intrusive. The food was incredible. Each dish was distinctive and had it's own flavors. The portions were big enough for sharing. We had the wings as an appetizer- good presentation and flavor.
Server was really knowledgeable and gave great recommendations!
We went for the Sunday authentic Korean meal to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The service, food and atmosphere were excellent. They took fantastic care of us - would definitely recommend for groups of all sizes.
Went here on the weekend with my wife for the first time expecting something great based on feedback of friends. I actually asked them what they were talking about. The food is unique I give them that but I feel like the menu and whole restaurant is just missing something. I felt like I was eating in a trendy cafeteria at a university. Not sure if that is the designed feel or if it is trying to be something different than that?? Giving this place 3 stars is even being nice.
The food is absolutely delicious. Flavorful, lovely.
The food was absolutely delicious. My friend and I decided we MUST go back so we can try everything on the menu. The Sunday specials were fantastic - they came with some great little side salads that were all fantastic. Between the two of us, we had the Galbi Tang (beef short ribs soup), beef fried rice (both of our favorites) and the char'd dumplings!
Love the atmosphere, the food was amazing but very spicy. Would recommend!
Average is the best description. Food arrived before drinks and all at once. Better to space things out. Food wasn’t hot and spice levels were just “meh”. Eclectic decor that doesn’t work. One and done for me.
Great service and great food!
Enjoyed my “birthday” dinner there🎉:)
Excellent food and really fun experience. The server's recommendations were our favorite things we ordered. The perfect amount of spicy and great flavors!
Loved the food and the vibe. Contemporary design and just fabulous food at reasonable prices.
I had high hopes for this restaurant, however, they came crashing & burning down. We ordered 4 tapas, and All of them came out cold. We ordered the shrimp which said it contained 7 pieces (random #) and we received 4 1/2. Maybe we should’ve ordered regular meals, but everything that came out was not as described in the menu. I would’ve loved to be able to say I want to go back, but I don’t think I’ll ever go back.
Pretty solid fare, but nothing new. Most of our dishes were deep fried or pretty heavy/fatty, with a limited selection of the usual pickled accoutrements. I also wish there were more gluten free and vegan options. Worth a try, unless you're like our table neighbor who asked for no garlic -- then this place is probably not for you.
Very poor experience. Our son cannot have garlic in his food. Even those not listed with garlic had garlic in them . We asked for a simple stir fry without garlic. This was not accomplished without two tries. My son’s order came 30 minutes after the rest of ours. The restaurant had to be more flexible with food allergies. This was our worst dining experience ever.
Awesome! Generous portions. Good wait staff. Delicious.
First time and I’ll be back. I wish they had them noodle dish chop chai.
Great place to try Korean takes on staple dishes. Very good leeky chicken and churro dessert
Good environment, good food. An enjoyable dining experience.
We love Char'd but the food was not as good as normal. We had the dumplings-always a fave & very good, the shrimp-way too breaded, beef kimchi rice bowl-so loaded with kimchi it was so rich and salty but not in the best way.
Food was good, very interesting flavors and combinations. Great sauces and soups. They need more support in their wine list and quality cocktails. In general, the overall experience was a bit flat and not memorable but regardless, really great food.
food ok but we’re expecting better
We discovered Char'd on a business trip to Milwaukee a few weeks ago and have made it staple for return trips. The food is amazing and you really can't order a bad dish - it doesn't exist on the menu!
Terribly dirty and unattended bathrooms.
The service was slow, the drinks were expensive and the food was mediocre. My entree was good, but the apps were cold.
Small plates were delicious
I really wanted to love this place, but could not. Food was flavorful (loved the bibimbap), the space looked beautiful, but was poorly laid out. We were the second group there, but seated 1 table away from the kitchen door which was loud with other music and chatter. The next groups were seated immediately next to us and we heard every bit of their drunken conversations. If you're going with more than a group of 2, this might be more enjoyable as you should get an individual table. But it's a big NO for date night or a simple anniversary meal.
Great experience from all aspects! Our group of 12 was impressed with the high level of service and quality and creative food. We shared mostly small plates and some of the mains and it made for a very fun and interactive business dinner.
My husband and I really enjoyed Char'd. Great service and wonderful food. It's a fun take on the Korean cuisine. (We have been to Korea) The atmosphere was warm and inviting. And the noise level was conversation friendly. (You can't say that about many restaurants these days)
Tuna tartare and cauliflower dishes were great! Leeky chicken was really good, but the garlic chili shrimp was a bit too sweet and had way too much breading. Service was excellent.
There were two of us for a pre-show dinner. We ordered four small plates - all were excellent, especially the Tuna Tartare and the Char'd Dumplings. I'm already planning another visit because there are many other dishes I'd like to try.
Great new restaurant for us - we decided to order the tapa plates, everything was excellent. Favorite dish was the Perilla avocado and the leeky chicken - also the cocktails- the Far East !!!’ fresh great flavors ! Well done Char’d !
Decent meal. Prices a bit high for what you get. Music was okay but didn’t hit the mark.
The Korean tapas selection was unique and tasty. We had the tuna tartare, pork dumplings and charred cauliflower. For our main meal, we had the spicy chicken and the beef bulgogi which was served with a side of lettuce and grilled onions. The meat dishes had a delicious marinade and seasonings. We will be back.
The food was AMAZING. Lots of yummy shareable. Cool place, great bar. You won’t be disappointed!
If you haven't tried Char'd and want to experience unique and delicious food, you must go here. This is a well-kept secret that should always be a top choice for lunch or dinner!
