Excellent, great service and food was great. Sons birthday and couldn’t have gone better
We were celebrating a birthday and wanted a special experience. The food was fantastic. The filet was perfect. The wine was fabulous. Our server was helpful. We requested patio seating because of COVID. Unfortunately, there was a constant stream of people coming outside to smoke. They were just feet from our table which ruined our experience. When I’m spending $200+ on a meal, I don’t want to inhale secondhand smoke. It would be nice if they had a designated smoking area that is away from tables where people are eating.
Had reservation and was promptly seated. Service was very good. Multiple appetizers and entree were timed and served well.
Fourth time in a row the $130 steak was not cooked right. It has either been too done or not done at all. The only reason we kept trying was so I could get the oysters. Their sister restaurant Flame is even worse. Why can't Springfield have a decent upscale restaurant?

Great service and amazing food.
I took an old family friend and for dinner last night and everything was perfect. The service was spot on, a great mixture of attentiveness and giving us the space to visit.
Oh my goodness and the food was delicious! We split the petite medallions and they were cooked to perfection.
We both definitely will be coming back!

Everything was delicious - steak delmonico, lobster bisque, Chilean sea bass, filet, Char salad….we tried it all and each taste outdid the last. Highly recommend!! Service was phenomenal too.

My husband and I went for a date night and had a wonderful time! Nathan was our server and he was attentive to our needs. The steak was amazing and perfectly cooked! The jalepino cheddar mashed potatoes were to die for and the drinks were strong! We will definitely be returning.
We’re a group of Atl motorcyclist here for the Honda Wing Ding. Some one recommended Char-to us. Oh My Gosh!! It was fabulous. Kevin was our server, he a perfect grasp on all the specials plus he got our humor. My husband and and I shared Delaware Bay and PEI raw oysters, which were fabulous. Two of us had the Chilean sea bass and the men both had the three oz steak filets.Kevin was as very knowledgeable about the menu. We’re all international travelers for business and pleasure. I would say definitely Char met all our expectations. GA Wingers

Great service and wonderful food. We were spaced apart from other tables and we felt very good about that.
The steak was spot on. The sides where a bit under flavored. The tuna taco appetizer did not include much tuna at all and was mostly cabbage, onions and wonton chips. The service was excellent.
We took my father-in-law for dinner to celebrate Father’s Day. The food and service were great, and the restaurant had fulfilled our request for a quiet table by putting us in a private round booth with high backs. The prices were high, but justified by the ambiance and food quality.
I’m very fair and reasonable in expectations of a restaurant. I normally never complain, but I’m not happy with this experience. The popovers were way overcooked. Dark brown and they served them to us anyway. The lobster bisque was so salty you couldn’t eat it. The potatoes layonasse were overcooked/over fried and could not even cut them with the knife. The asparagus was small and only a few pieces drowning in sauce for the money as compared to other restaurants. The food overall was a little cold. Lobster tail and steak were cooked properly but cold. There was no sense of pride or attention to detail involved in cooking that meal. Very disappointed in the quality for the money.
We were there celebrating a 54 wedding anniversary and a brand new engagement. I called twice to let them know that and that it was our first time there and really wanted it to be special and asked for a seasoned waiter/waitress. I was very disappointed that our waiter had no idea of our special occasions and that he was also serving a large party. He was ok but not especially attentive. This was supposed to be an upscale restaurant. Did not measure up!!!! Disappointed.
From front door to our very quiet booth to our dinner. Everything was perfect. Our waiter Rocky was attentive throughout whole meal as well as informative about food and dessert choices. We had a great dining experience.

Started off well but the restaurant got busier as the evening went on. Our server became so busy with a larger party that my friend and I felt we were forgotten. Took a long time for us to be asked if we’d like to order dessert. Once we ordered dessert, it took a very long time to get it out to us - so long that we actually looked at each other and said that we were beyond the wait. Just as that happened, our dessert came out from the kitchen. My cheesecake was room temperature, which was unappetizing. As far as the food, the bacon wrapped dates (appetizer), steak, mashed potatoes, and salad were delicious! However, my meal alone was $100 including tip. I don’t consider that great value. I can pay less for food that is just as tasty. One last concern was that the restaurant became very busy, which is good for them but concerning as we are just exiting COVID restrictions. No masking anywhere.

Excellent experience with great service and food. The atmosphere was quiet for a nice conversation at our booth. The Char is a more upscale restaurant and should require a dress code. We were disappointed to see folks wearing caps and tanktops allowed in restaurant.
We enjoyed our experience and will return.

Great experience . The wine list was not too deep, but had great options at all price points. Food was fabulous. Enjoyable experience.
We were seated upstairs and received a very flakey waitress. We have eaten at Char multiple times but this was the first time we received a college student who should not be waiting on tables at this type of restaurant. A bar and grill would be more her speed. I would be writing a book if I typed out everything that happened with her but in the end Char management did take care of us. To me that is everything. Mistakes, or multiple mistakes can happen, how they are handled is important and Char did step up (at least on the mistakes they new about)! I love Char and will go back!
Our first true meal out since COVID and it didn’t disappoint. We had a great meal without any flaws. Service was very nice as well. We’ve been here many times and have never had a bad experience.
Ambiance and service was exceptional. Lobster bisque was amazing, there was just too much if it for the flavor punch. Tuna Nachos tortillas were way too salty, so it made the slaw and tuna bland, but once I stopped eating the tacos, the flavor was quite good. The Tuna should have been dressed with something. The Asparagus had the same problem, just boiled, and though the sauce was great, the thick stalks were just water flavored, so the flavors never blended. The steak on the other hand, was seasoned perfectly! But I did not know the sauce would be as smokey as it was (from the menu, I thought it was smokey fries, which I did not get- my err for not clarifying) still an amazing sandwich. The Flirtini was put of this world. Those flavors were blended to absolute perfection. The mushroom risotto was too starchy and was more like a porridge, than a risotto, flavor was good though. Loved my experience and aside from some of the food missing some basic elements, it was 5 stars for me.
My wife and I were in Springfield to get our Global Entry program interviews at the airport. Char was highly recommended. Did not disappoint. French Onion Soup and Lobster bisque were very rich and flavorful. We split a wedge salad, which was very ample and the Blue Cheese dressing was divine. She had the petite filet which was as good any steak we've enjoyed elsewhere, but not remarkable. The garlic potatoes she thought were the best part of her meal. I had the Salmon Oscar, but found it sounded better that the flavors actually worked together for my tasted. Very rich sauce and crabmeat overwhelmed the Salmon. The asparagus was a bit crunchy. I was disappointed that the only shrimp I could find on the menu was shrimp cocktail. Only four or five seafood items on the entre menu as I recall. But a very good choice all in all, service was attentive, helpful and friendly.
