Char - Jackson Ratings and Reviews
My favorite white table cloth dining experience, and that is exactly why--it is an experience. I feel pampered, I am called by name and greeted by hostesses and wait staff alike--very personal. The managers are very attentive and have helped me with planning retirement and birthday special events, as well as making each experience "the best." James and Stephanie have good rapport with their customers. This establishment goes the extra mile, especially regarding any bar issue--Lindsey and Kristen are THE LADIES in our books! Superb in every category. We call this our 'CHAR-ming' place to eat.
We had a wonderful time celebrating a birthday with friends. Glad I made reservation prior to going. Our Server, Lindsay was great and she made the moments excellent. We will use this place as a getaway with friends. Food was excellent (Fried Green Tomato, the salmon with grits, pecan sheared fish; chicken tenderloin with all the different sides).
It was really, really loud and we were expecting a little more of a romantic or cozy atmosphere. All of the food was great except for the steak. The seasoning was tasty, but the steak was fatty and overcooked (ordered medium rare and came well done). Service started out good, but then it got crowded and service became spotty.
We were seated immediately. We were able to enjoy the music from where we were seated. Our waiter was very attentive & helpful! He made recommendations and helped us with our selections. We had salmon and a Caesar Salad. We split both. The salmon was cooked to perfection.
I made the reservations with the expectation that we would have a table for 6.
However, we were seated in a crowded booth (with at least one seating area)
without any cushioning. I would have objected and asked for a table ...but it was
late and we were hungry. It was not conducive for the 6 of us, nor the waiter.
On the positive side , the food was generally wonderful, as we expected. A little slow,
but not bad considering the numbers dining.
Note : This was not the first time for us individually and with other groups to
dine with Char.
I was so disappointed. I had pick Chars for my birthday celebration. The service was horrible and the food wasn’t much better. We had problems getting our drinks and finally had to call over another waiter, the food was the same. I felt I had 2 slices of white bread with and egg on top. Forget about having any meat.
I have been to Chars for dinner before and totally loved it, but I won’t be coming back for brunch ever again.
We chose Char to celebrate our 30th anniversary. Our server was very attentive, the atmosphere was just right for a special occasion and the food was delicious. I had a filet with scallop and my husband had the fish special. Both were good choices. I used to come to Char for lunch a lot when I worked nearby. I wish I lived closer. We'd go more often.
Took my 2 granddaughters age 9 and 6 before New Stage Beauty and the Beast for a Christmas brunch celebration. Waitress so nice to the children, made a note of 9 year old with significant allergies (seafood and eggs) jazz band adds a special French Quarter feel. The children loved the chicken and waffles. 5 🌟 recommendation
