The total experience was very good. Our server was delightful, and the food good. Our hesitation and probably the reason we won’t return for awhile, is that the cost was very high. For 3 of us, including tip, we spent over $240. We all thought that was high.

Your food was excellent, delicious and served hot as it should be. Your cocktail service was a little slow it might be because they servers need to go downstairs to that bar to get their cocktails Our waitress was very good.

Server was good, but it took forever (over 1hr) to get food from time placed order. It was the kitchen.

Wow were we disappointed. Char falls far short of our Grand View Lodge expectations. Steaks were salty, ribeye full of fat not marbling as expected. Popovers were so hard I had to ask for a new batch. Even broccolini was strangely seasoned. We did not expect large portions but sizes were noticeably skimpy. Wine by the glass comes in two sizes, but I was “upsold” the larger size which I did not want. We ordered a bottle of wine as well, and our waiter recommended two options at double the price. At least 20% overpriced overall. Do NOT go until this place fixes things.

Char is a perfect example of how extremely expensive does not mean extremely good. The prices are worthy of high end highly rated big city restaurants, but this dinner didn’t meet that standard. Steaks were excellent, but the rest, in true Minnesota tradition were just “above average.” We kept waiting for a wow, but the “wow” was reserved for the size of the check. Service was attentive, the room a bit dark. Grandview Lodge can do better.
