We welcome large parties, but do not take large reservations online. For parties of 6 or more please call during business hours.
Superb service! Friendly waitress, excellent host! Salmon was perfect
Went to check out restaurant week on a date. The lamb lollipop was amazing. The rest of the meal was mediocre. Service could have been a little better. Could have properly used an additional server on. All tables were occupied besides two at the time. The bartender sat us. Great seating choice, he gave us the best seat in the house I thank him so much for that. It was the seat by the window looking outside.
Our server was wonderful. She explained everything about the restaurant. She came back often enough to ensure we were enjoying our meal.
Food was excellent. We sat in a corner table and it was cozy and allowed everyone to enjoy the interiors.
We would definitely return.
Not great at all. Was expecting much better service, food and atmosphere.
This was our first visit to Chapter One. We really like the menu and the variety of options. The food was very good, but the chef somehow forgot to bake bread that day so we could not have bread with our meal. Also there is very little room between the tables so the waiters/waitresses were not able to maneuver to our table easily leading to spotty service.
We had a great time. However, the place was empty and were told they had no tables unless we had a reservation. All we wanted to do was brunch on the Barmuda Triangle day. I had to make a reservation on the spot via open table. The host (male) was not amused. It was quite comical.
Food was good; waitress was friendly, professional, and personable
Stopped in on a whim on our way home to Massachusetts and had a delightful experience. The service was outstanding, the food was delicious and we even got to enjoy some happy hour cocktails (loved the Sangria!). I would both recommend this restaurant and I would make the trip to go back some time, for sure!
Pretty loud in there. The meal was expensive but then so is Mystic...
cute small place with decent size bar and restaurant. Heavy emphasis on seafood on menu which is expected. Service was prompt and courteous. Had mussels and ceviche appetizer. Both good however not so good to go back and forth between cold and hot appetizer. Should have picked one or the other. Dinner was blackened mahi and it was spicy yet delicious. Would definitely go back.
Great service, delicious food, wonderful ambience, comfortable seating
This is by far one of our favorite restaurants! We love this place. Everything is wonderful! You just have to come try it!
Great place for a date! Service was phenomenal and it has really quaint seating options.
Great meal! Service was great, food came out quickly, and everything tasted perfect. Prices are reasonable. 100% would recommend
They must have gone to a salt sale. Had to return my soup And the clam sauce was Very salty as well.
Restaurant is a Mosel too open space, bar on one side half bench and seating on the other. It can get loud. There is an unprinted kids menu which was great, no apple juice however but will take it to have a teal adult meal and have my kid also have something to eat. Service was great but once it got a bit more crowded I could find anyone to refill the water! There were also little gnats flying over our head in the winter, they were numerous in bathroom as well. Food was good and would come back all in all.
Love the food and service at Chapter One.
I've eaten at Chapter One several times and consider it to a solidly good choice. The food is creative, the staff is friendly and the atmosphere is relaxing. A bonus is that they have lots and lots of good beers on tap
Food was excellent. Space was cozy. Staff was friendly and responsive.
Was very disappointed with the food. I ordered shrimp scampi over angel hair pasta but it was overwhelmed with the amount of sauce that came with the plate. The shrimp & pasta were drowning in sauce. My wife had grilled chicken over mashed potatoes which was very bland. We were the only 2 patrons in the dining room although the bar was busy on a Sunday night.
Restaurant was very accommodating with food allergies. Food was fantastic. It's a great place to meet up with friends and have a few drinks but a little noisy for a romantic date night if that's what you're looking for. There's plenty of great food on the menu and the service was amazing as well. I'd recommend this place- definitely make reservations as it fills up quickly!!
I made reservations via open table, secured with a credit card so I certainly expected a somewhat elegant dining experience as advertised. We arrived to find that there were no seats in the main dining area so we were seated in a corner of the bar area, next to open windows and doors on a 50 degree evening, we did did request the windows shut and our request was accommodated. The music was very loud, not our idea of fine dining. If our reservations for seating in a dining area could not have been accommodated I would have appreciated an email advising me of this. I did receive an email advising me I would have been charged a fee if I cancelled or modified my reservation within 48 hours. As far as the food and service, our waitress was polite, friendly and very efficient. Lobster rolls were very small served on extremely cheap, cold, mushy hot dog rolls, not worth the price.
If you are in Mystic you must try this restaurant! It is fantastic!
Great service, and very good food.
We had excellent food and service. The food was definitely very flavorful and portions were plentiful. The service was great and friendly.
We found this restaurant in the heart of mystic, we were very happy with the food, staff and atmosphere. the food was great too, would highly recommend
Holiday weekend, Very Noisy. Companion enjoyed lobster role but my salmon was undercooked even after sending it back once. No one even asked if it was ok the second time. Definitely a mixed experience. Might be ok when less crowded
Great option from the local fabulous fried clams and of course Mystic Pizza-while they do offer a fantastic lobster roll with freshly made Old bay Chips, the rest of the menu is creative and delicious-you can really tell they use good ingredients and top quality fish. It felt very local, not an overpriced tourist place. We loved it so much we went back the next night to try some other dishes. And the desserts are very generous for sharing. Service was perfect, friendly and attentive.
We had spotty service. The food was also hit or miss. Some was good, and others were weird. Our dessert was inedible. Will not return.
Greeted by a less then pleasant hostess. Upon being seated I noticed tiny black bugs flying everywhere and all over the back wall behind where we were seated. We would have to continue to swat at them for the remainder of the night.
We ordered 2 apps which came out perfect, however before we were done with them, the manager was standing over us asking where to put our meals while someone else had already grabbed our unfinished apps. I exchanged some less then pleasant words with the manager delivering the food but no apology or acknowledgement that they were rushing us out the door and the timing sucked.
Food was decent not great which is only reason this didn’t end up as a 1 star review but will certainly pass on this place again. I prefer not to be rushed and not to have to swat bugs off my food and drink all night.
The food here is amazing! Mystic offers a lot of choices. If you want fresh and tasty then dine here!
Our server was fantastic! Her recommendation on the scallops was perfect.
Food and service were just average. Great location...
Service was great, food was so so, did not get much for what they charged. Meals came with no sides and the sides that were purchased were way overpriced. Asparagus for example was dry, over cooked and contained 5 small pieces. Staff was very friendly and receptive, however there are better options available in the area.
Can't believe we haven't been here before. Food and service were top notch.
Great little restaurant, even seated us earlier than our reservation time but unfortunately we found strands of long hair on our dinner plate. Accidents happen, manager was very nice and accommodating considering the circumstances.
One of the rare places that makes outstanding French Onion soup. Wish this place were in my neighborhood.
Service was great. Food was nothing to write home about, especially for such high prices. If you're going to pay $21 for a chicken entree it better be a whole breast of chicken, not a quarter. Or if you're going to pay $22 for a pasta dish, the pasta better be out of this world. Overall the food was bland and not worth the prices. It was incredibly loud but that could be explained for the layout of the place, sound bouncing off the walls easily. If there is a party greater than 6 you won't be able to hear yourself think because it's small and cozy inside. The decor was nice and the location is great, right near the drawbridge.
