Chao Phraya Ratings and Reviews
Visiting Montreal, our friends took us to Chao Phraya. We loved it! Our server Tony was excellent. We shared a bottle of Liberty School Cab Paso Robles. Our soups & aps were delectable. Each of us ordered a diff Main course so we had the chance to try tgem all. Well it was so good that I invited 3 other friends to have dinner w us the next night. This time i asked to add coconut milk to my shrimp tom yum soup - everyone loved it & asked for one. I ordered nmbr 137 - excellent. Trip almost over, i went back w 2 other friends again 2 nights ago. They have very inexpensive wine specials. The food was again filling & succulent. I’ll be back on my mext visits for sure. I’m already having withdrawals.
This was our 2nd time at Chayo Praya this year, after having not been in many years. Once again, we were most impressed. Nice ambience, good service, fair wine prices, but most of all, fabulous Asian cuisine. Every single dish tasted fresh and clean, with the quality of the ingredients and preparation coming through in every bite. What a pleasure to experience an Asian meal and not come away from the restaurant with that heavy feeling. In particular, I would wholeheartedly recommend the beef with broccoli and oyster sauce, the chicken in peanut sauce with crispy chicken, and the sticky rice.
I've been going to this restaurant for years and rate everything about it as excellent (maybe not the value).
On this occasion, I'm rating one specific dish as poor (#154). The tofu was overcooked, lacked flavour and was like eating rubber.
The saving grace was the way the owner apologized to me for my experience and offered to reimburse me. He wasn't just going through the motions- he was sincere in his apologies.
Chao Phraya wil remain on the list of one of my favourite Thai restaurants.
We had a very nice meal at this long standing Thai restaurant.both appetizers were outstanding.dumplings in peanut sauce, some of the best I have had in a while, tasty rich peanut sauce. And the grilled shrimp in a spicy chilli sauce with Asian style coleslaw was the hit of the evening.
All three main meals were excellent. Beef with chilli and veggie s, chicken with fried spinach and that yummy peanut sauce, and chicken in a curry sauce with vegetables.
We had not been here for a while but glad we came to dine.
We went for my boyfriends birthday he really wanted to have satay chicken with crispy spinach and it was amazing. I had a really good Pad Thai. We had a really yummy rice mango and coconut milk dessert. The only thing was the price it was on the expensive side for two people no wine, just two beers, two entrees and one share dessert almost $100 . We will definitely be back
Usually excellent restaurant. Had not been in a while. Prices went nuts. AND, one of the main courses was plain cold, and another was barely warm.
For 195$ for 3 people, without alcohol, NOT reasonable and can no longer recommend. Unfortunately, because tasty.
Still my favourite Thai Restaurant in Montreal despite the average service and ambiance. The food is delicious and it really what matters. The curry is second to none. You can ask for more or less spicy depending on your taste. Make sure you ask for enough sticky rice to soak up all the sauce...
